Nonna Cucina Rustica
The menu includes a selection of dishes ranging from antipasti, soups and pasta with a variety of meats and seafood. The pizzas are made with carefully selected ingredients including Caputo flour from Naples, Italy, extra virgin olive oil unfiltered and fresh mozzarella.
"La Nonna” was the precursor of this Italian cuisine where they used the best ingredients while preparing everything from scratch. It is a throwback to the traditional and rustic cuisine. We try to respect these methods and recipes from the past while integrating cutting-edge techniques.

Nonna was recommended to us by friends of ours that live in PR. We went with them the first night we were in town and loved it so much that we returned later that week. GREAT food. Highly recommended!
Service especially was outstanding. The food was great as well!
The service was inattentive. Had to leave my table to ask for the basics, water, a menu, etc. But the servers are friendly and did apologize. In any case, it should not happen.
Such a wonderful night. Everything was fantastic. We will be back!
This was a complete disaster from start to finish. We had a 7 pm reservation made via open table. We specified we would need 2 high chairs but the hostess seemed totally surprised when we arrived. Anyway she gave us a nice table in the front with plenty of room. That was the last thing they did right. It took forever for our waiter to appear, when he finally did we ordered a pizza for an appetizer and squid ink risotto for my husband and a pasta dish for myself. He never asked for our drink order. After sitting for about 25 mins we realized that everyone else had bread on their table and drinks. We had to flag down the hostess to ask for bread. I ordered a cocktail from their menu. The bread arrived but my cocktail never appeared, instead I was given a glass of champagne (because I guess that’s what they decided I should drink). We then waited another 30 mins and the pizza never showed up. When we asked what was taking so long for the appetizer we were told there was a problem with the pizza oven. The waiter never apologized or said they would check on it. At that moment we decided to leave. Our kids had been waiting to eat for almost an hour with no food in sight. When we told the waiter we were leaving he bought us a check for the drink I never ordered and a bottle of water for the table and the pizza appetizer to go. As we were getting our car from the valet, the hostess asked us how our dinner was and we had to tell her we never at and our pizza appetizer was in the box. She then told us everything is slow because the only had 3 chefs working (?!?!?!). My husband then told her that the waiter said it was taking so long because there was an issue with the pizza oven. My husband then asked her if they got their stories straight before making excuses. We came here because they are affiliated with Cocina Abierta which we have eaten at many times. The valet was the best part of the evening. He was more apologetic than the hostess or waiter. That is just sad!!!
Waiter was clearly overstretched with to many tables to manage by himself, otherwise outstanding experience
Maravilloso siempre. ¡Gracias Sofía!
Loved, loved, loved the food!!!! Authentic italian!!! Yummm!!!
Nunca me equivoco cuando voy a Nonna a cenar o almorzar. Me encanta!
The worst experience of all PR Restaurant Week and one of my worst experience ever. We made reservations for a Wednesday night at 9 pm and arrived early. During the first hour of our dinner (we spend 2:15 hours in total, and not by choice), we were only served 1 bread per person and our appetizer. After that, each plate took around 25 minutes to be served. Finally, after the restaurant was completely empty and they were cleaning up the kitchen, we were finally served the dessert. The waiter was somewhat attentive as to keep our wine glasses full (with the wine we brought), but that was it. Not 1 time did he gave us an update as to the status of our food or asked us if we liked it. The sad part is that the food was very dissapointing, including the desserts, which I usually love. The gnochi were hard, with no pumpkin flavor, the fish was bland, the beef was overcooked, the cauliflower puree had whole chunks of cauliflower, and the fois gras sauce was nowhere to be found. This is not the first time that we had a bad experience here, but this will definitively be the last.
Had a family reunion on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was packed which is a good sign!
Took a little bit to get our order but we were having conversations and was easily overlooked.
We ordered and then waited a long time for our order.
My fish was tasty but dry. All the others in my party gave the food rave reviews so, if you’re not in a hurry, this is a good place to have good time and it’s pretty reasonable.
The best Italian experience I’ve had so far in a restaurant in PR. Best pasta (and sauce) I’ve had in a while and the service is amazing and the hearth is extraordinary. Definitely recommend it!
This is my second time dining at Nonna Cucina Rustica and it was such a wonderful experience. The food is super on point, the wait staff is attentive and the entire ambience is nice and romantic looking. Perfect for dates, special occasions or if your just looking for a yummy Italian meal. Prices were also beyond reasonable for the quality of the food.
Great spot for Italian food. The only problem was the restaurant was just too chilly and hence the food got too cold almost as quickly as it arrived. Great service and fantastic vibe. They've got some good options for vegetarians too.
Best Italian food in Puerto Rico. Great food at good prices.
Excellent! Great food!
Great environment, food and service. Will definitely return. Must try the lasagna.
Un espacio maravilloso donde disfrutar una buena comida y el servicio es de primera.
¡Excelente comida! Nos impresionó particularmente el aperitivo de mejillones. Precios razonables. Volvería pronto.
Food was amazing!! Some of the menu items were not available however our food was delicious.
We loved Nonna, the service was super fast & attentive (not overly attentive). My husband & I both ordered the arugula salad. We both had pastas, both delicious. Not many vegetarian options, so they made me one of the pastas without meat.
Will def go back!
The food is outstanding. The menu is a little lighter than listed here on open table, but I don't think there isba wrong choice. The bread is delicious. My wife's goat cheese ravioli was the best she had ever had (it is kind of her go too at Italian restaurants). I had the beef cheeks pasta that was very good. One of my kids had the spaghetti and the other a pizza and both were great. Neither complained about anything, which is a miracle in itself. Our server was very professional and super nice. We have had our fill of Mofongo at this point and it was great to have a legit Italian meal in Puerto Rico.
We had a party of four and everyone loved it. Great service and atmosphere.
Outstanding local find while on vacation
What a gem! Food was perfect and the service phenomenal.
Excellent service. Food was great. Enjoyed the place. The wine was very good.
Still one of the best restaurants in Puerto Rico. With the crisis it has shortened the menu. But the quality is outstanding. And relatively speaking a bargain.
Awesome food & great service!!
Wonderful food expertly prepared and served! Can’t wait to return.
Nonna is one of our “go to” restaurants when in San Juan. Service is excellent and the food top notch!
Food was amazing, best meal we’ve had here!! Staff was very friendly and prices were great! The noise level was high but an overall great experience.
Nice place, good service. But I ordered a pizza with three toppings and it came without tomato sauce. Never knew that was a topping! Appetizers and bread were very good.
Overall nice experience with a group of 6 coming from the US before a cruise. Our server was very attentive and personable. Our second time in the restaurant and would highly recommend.
Absolute gem in San Juan. Please come down to this island. Many wonderful places to eat including Nonna Cucina. They need your business to help recover from last year's hurricane.
Great athomsphere, great service (our server made me her signature pineapple bellini!!!) and home-made pistachio gelato to die for...
We were vacationing in Puerto Rico and our Concierge recommended Nonno's. What a treat. The food is authentic, prepared and presented beautifully, service is outstanding. We ate there 3 times in 3 weeks. Highly recommend if you are looking for real Italian food. Not a large menu, but more than adequate and the prices can't be beat.
Good food as always, but to our surprise the menu was very limited comparing to previous visits. Charging for bottle water is unacceptable, give the customer to have tap water instead
Awesome service and people
Everything about Nonno is wonderful. It was our second time in 4 days will always return when in San Juan.
