Nom Wah Philadelphia
This place was soooooo good! Favorite thing we ordered was the pork buns which were HUGE! I didn’t think we’d be able to finish them both but they were just so delicious we had no problem. Also loved the shrimp shumai. Soup dumplings were pretty standard. Will definitely be going back.
Great food and service, numerous vegetarian options, and can accommodate a large group (over 10 people). Nom Wah is no frills on the outside, but exceeded all my expectations. Will be back!
Went with my work team for lunch. We arrive around 11:30 AM, and we were seated immediately. More people arrived, but it was never too busy that it got crowded or that people were upset waiting for anything. The food was excellent as usual.
This is the best dim sum in Philadelphia, by far. Fresh, delicious and a great value. We've been regulars since it opened and it is still the best.
Food was great and I enjoyed the experience. We will be back, often.
Food was good, service ok. I think more servers would make it better
This was my first visit to Nom Wah. We tried five items from the dim sum menu. Our favorite was the open faced shrimp Shu Mai. They were delicious. Our least favorite were the rice noodles with scallion and cilantro, although they were good and the portion was large. We also tried the turnip cakes, steamed pork bun( largest I’ve ever had) and stuffed eggplant. We enjoyed them all. It was fun to watch other diners’ orders go by. We would have liked to have been able to try them all.
Great dim sum, and fabulously attentive service (biggest % tip I've ever given, I think! - I even wrote a thank-you note on the credit card receipt!). Atmosphere is utterly meh, so this might not be a first-date locale. But with the good food (and it's a BYO !!), we'll be going back!
The shrimp shu mai are my favorite dumplings in the city.
The reason we went there was because we saw a cooking show on Create TV that interviewed the owner from the NOM WAH in New York City.... and the food they showed in the TV show looked spectacular. But the food available at the Philadelphia restaurant did not appear to be the same quality
Spring rolls came late because they delivered them to another table and that table ate them. Otherwise good meal.
Dim sum without the carts. Food was generally very good; some dishes better than others. Shumai not as delicate as it could be. Bok choi and eggplant dishes were fabulous.
This is the best dim sum place
In Philadelphia. No question!! Delicious and fresh, the food is consistent and well prepared. Not fancy, this is your spot for every day dining when you just have to have some dumplings!! Go. You will love it.
we were disappointed. Has lots of dim sum to choose from but, from our standpoint, the quality was not there. Flavors muted, pastry thick and doughy. Being served was nice and food hot but we think there are better dim sum restaurants to go to.
Food was good not great! I’ve had better dim sum! Overall the food was greasy and on the heavy side. Not bad but nothing out of the ordinary!
Came here for my 25th birthday while visiting in Philadelphia for the weekend with friends who have never experienced dim sum. Great time had by all, loved the staff and quality of food/service. Will return again!
Very yummy food. I loved ordering several small dishes and being able to taste everything. The Chinese broccoli was so fresh and delicious. We also really enjoyed the scallion pancakes. I'd like to go back again to try more of the dishes that I didn't order.
Excellent food and service. Wine choice by the glass just okay and mine tasted like it hadneen open for a while.
Took the kids for their 1st dim sum. Was a great experience no pressure food was reasonable and good
I loved this place! Being a vegetarian, they had so many options than any other Dim Sum place I've been too. Also, they were so polite. My friend was an hour late due to a last minute work commitment and they were not pushy or mean at all. They patiently waited and were not rude. Would definitely go again and would definitely recommend it.
Little atmosphere, appeared somewhat less than clean; table sticky. But, food great! I wouldn’t visit the kitchen or bathroom! Needs some cleaning and more light! But the food was excellent and place very casual! Has full bar too!
Great as usual. Jasmine tea might be a bit stronger. But it's a "go to" dim sum-mery.
Best dim sum in Philly. The woman who runs this place is amazing—kind, thoughtful, and quick to solve any concerns! One of my favorite places for dinner. Always make a reservation though or you won’t get a table!
One of the best dim sum experiences I've had in Philly; I prefer the experience of cart-style dim sum, but in terms of food, Nom Wah was great.
Went at noon on a weekday so it wasn’t crowded whatsoever. The waitress was terrific. I liked the clear menu with pictures describing verbally and visually each item and the ability to select those on the checklist. The food was fresh and clearly made to order.
We really enjoyed the food at nom Wah. Dim Sum was delicious. We were there on a Sunday evening at 6:30 and were seated immediately. Servers could be more helpful in suggesting the menu selection. Decor is very simple .
This rowdy, fast-paced dim sum joint pumps food out of the kitchen quickly, filling bellies as you fill your glasses with wine, beer, or whatever you're drinking! (Don't worry, they've got a full bar if you forgot a bottle.) I went with a large party, and our orders were handled expertly. You can tell they're used to volume and repeat orders. You can view their dishes on one of their laminated, photo-heavy menus, then you write the number of each dish you'd like on a checklist. Easy as that!
Our favorites were the salt and pepper pork, Shanghainese soup dumpling, Shrimp rice rolls, the veggie fried rice (so simple, so savory!), and all the pan-fried dumplings. The ONLY low spot on the menu that we ordered was the steamed spare ribs, but it was a brief dark spot on a menu full of bright, salty dishes! V. affordable, the table of seven left full and happy for less than it would normally cost four of us to dine.
The service was fairly poor but the food is good, although some of the dim sum was served at room temperature.
The food is very good but be prepared to wait. They have two servers but need more staff. The two servers were working very hard, but we had to ask several times for water and utensils. If they get more help this place will be excellent! Don’t go here if you need to get somewhere else in a hurry!
No instructions were given on how to order. No one asked if we’d like a drink. The service was bad a the female hostess was rude.
A great, delicious, prompt, and friendly service every time we've been, and it's quite a few!
Nom Wah continues to serve excellent dim sum with really good service.
Wow the dim sum here is unbelievable AND there’s a full bar... hard to find that combo with authentic dim sum places in Philly. Will definitely come to Nom Wah again (100 times).
Great food, lovely service, felt like a great neighborhood restaurant and good wine!
Excellent dim sum if you don't mind ordering off a menu rather than seeing the carts roll by. We had a table for 2, and when our dim sum selections started arriving we ran out of table space quickly. But assorted dumplings, siu mei, and sticky rice were all superb. Nom Wah is small, and tables are close together, so not the best choice for intimate conversation.
The Dim Sum is the star here. Place is pleasant, clean and staff are accommodating. Place is pretty live, but the food - wow!
Every time I go here I enjoy it. The food is excellent, the staff is friendly (but over worked), and it's convenient. I wish they would hire more servers.
Nom Wah is a good find! The menu is packed with reasonably priced dumplings and other dim sum dishes all of which were tasty and arrived at the table hot. The service is friendly and well-paced - not overly attentive, but we didn't need it to be - there are order sheets at the table. The atmosphere is casual (not fancy), but comfortable. We'll definitely go back.
Really enjoyed my Valentine’s Day dinner there! Very friendly staff and food was great.
