Chinese
Dim sum, meaning "a touch of heart", is a style of Cantonese cuisine, prepared as bite-sized portions, akin to tapas. Opened in 1920 as New York City Chinatown's first dim sum restaurant, the Philadelphia outpost opened in 2015. In addition to southern Chinese cuisine, a full bar with handcrafted cocktails and beers on tap offer a full dining experience. Also, private party bookings are available with karaoke.

Food was really good, servers were nice. A bit on the expensive side. But expected. As it is in the heart of the city . Less than 10 minutes walk from city hall. Wontons were good, and so was the shiu long dumplings!

Service was top notch! Food was delicious! Next time I come to Philly I will visit again. They had gluten free options and gluten free soy sauce. I had no issues.

Great inexpensive meal with friendly staff and fast service. It is a bit noisy but small and friendly. Dining solo I felt very comfortable. The dim sum is delicious. It is made to order rather than precooked and displayed on a cart. The shrimp dumplings are my favorite.

Modern retro design. CLEANEST toilets in Chinatown. Dim Sum is ordered rather than picked up from carts which ensures fresh, hot food. Well made Dim Sum along with various noodle dishes. Only thing missing was Dan Tot/Egg Custard tarts!

A great little spot off the beaten path in Chinatown with fabulous dim sum & larger plates. The pork buns and turnip cakes are two of our favorites. The lychee martinis are great too!

This place was soooooo good! Favorite thing we ordered was the pork buns which were HUGE! I didn’t think we’d be able to finish them both but they were just so delicious we had no problem. Also loved the shrimp shumai. Soup dumplings were pretty standard. Will definitely be going back.

Went with my work team for lunch. We arrive around 11:30 AM, and we were seated immediately. More people arrived, but it was never too busy that it got crowded or that people were upset waiting for anything. The food was excellent as usual.

This is the best dim sum in Philadelphia, by far. Fresh, delicious and a great value. We've been regulars since it opened and it is still the best.

This was my first visit to Nom Wah. We tried five items from the dim sum menu. Our favorite was the open faced shrimp Shu Mai. They were delicious. Our least favorite were the rice noodles with scallion and cilantro, although they were good and the portion was large. We also tried the turnip cakes, steamed pork bun( largest I’ve ever had) and stuffed eggplant. We enjoyed them all. It was fun to watch other diners’ orders go by. We would have liked to have been able to try them all.

Great dim sum, and fabulously attentive service (biggest % tip I've ever given, I think! - I even wrote a thank-you note on the credit card receipt!). Atmosphere is utterly meh, so this might not be a first-date locale. But with the good food (and it's a BYO !!), we'll be going back!

The spicy wontons might be my new go to dish they’re amazing. The shrimp shu mai are my favorite dumplings in the city. Salt and pepper shrimp also amazing. I have been here numerous times and never have anything less than an amazing experience.

The reason we went there was because we saw a cooking show on Create TV that interviewed the owner from the NOM WAH in New York City.... and the food they showed in the TV show looked spectacular. But the food available at the Philadelphia restaurant did not appear to be the same quality

Dim sum without the carts. Food was generally very good; some dishes better than others. Shumai not as delicate as it could be. Bok choi and eggplant dishes were fabulous.

This is the best dim sum place
In Philadelphia. No question!! Delicious and fresh, the food is consistent and well prepared. Not fancy, this is your spot for every day dining when you just have to have some dumplings!! Go. You will love it.

we were disappointed. Has lots of dim sum to choose from but, from our standpoint, the quality was not there. Flavors muted, pastry thick and doughy. Being served was nice and food hot but we think there are better dim sum restaurants to go to.

Very yummy food. I loved ordering several small dishes and being able to taste everything. The Chinese broccoli was so fresh and delicious. We also really enjoyed the scallion pancakes. I'd like to go back again to try more of the dishes that I didn't order.

I loved this place! Being a vegetarian, they had so many options than any other Dim Sum place I've been too. Also, they were so polite. My friend was an hour late due to a last minute work commitment and they were not pushy or mean at all. They patiently waited and were not rude. Would definitely go again and would definitely recommend it.

This rowdy, fast-paced dim sum joint pumps food out of the kitchen quickly, filling bellies as you fill your glasses with wine, beer, or whatever you're drinking! (Don't worry, they've got a full bar if you forgot a bottle.) I went with a large party, and our orders were handled expertly. You can tell they're used to volume and repeat orders. You can view their dishes on one of their laminated, photo-heavy menus, then you write the number of each dish you'd like on a checklist. Easy as that!

Our favorites were the salt and pepper pork, Shanghainese soup dumpling, Shrimp rice rolls, the veggie fried rice (so simple, so savory!), and all the pan-fried dumplings. The ONLY low spot on the menu that we ordered was the steamed spare ribs, but it was a brief dark spot on a menu full of bright, salty dishes! V. affordable, the table of seven left full and happy for less than it would normally cost four of us to dine.
