NOLA is chef/restaurateur Emeril Lagasse’s casual eatery in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter. Open since 1992, the critically-acclaimed restaurant fuses traditional Creole, Acadian and Southern cuisine with global influences. Chef de Cuisine Philip Buccieri works closely with Chef Emeril to create an innovative menu showcasing rustic Louisiana cooking with local ingredients and some ethnic twists. The three-story restaurant features an open-action kitchen, chef’s food bar and a signature wood-fired brick oven. NOLA was renovated in 2017 and is now open daily at 11:30 am serving one menu for lunch and dinner.
Octopus appetizer was outstanding. As well as the glazed duck. I guess I am not used to the heavy salt but the greens were pretty salty. The rest of the group loved them. Drinks were very good too. Second time and will definitely go back.
Terrence was amazing and the food was awesome
Wonderful evening The staff was attentive and the food was incredible.
Planned dining at NOLA for months knowing we were going to New Orleans with respect for Emerald. Major disappointment. Rather than a restaurant, it was more like a sports bar. After not being able to talk to each other due to noise level we find there is another floor. After moving, find it to be worse. To top it off, the food was less than impressive.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend. However, I acknowledge that we may have caught NOLA on a bad night. We made a reservation and were seated in an area with a large and loud party that made no effort to recognize others were there for a nice dinner. It got so bad that another guest yelled at them and made for a very awkward and uncomfortable situation. The staff should have dealt with that. Our lead waiter was inattentive and barely around. He was so glib, that he too faced an awkward situation when the same guest that yelled at the loud party called him out on it. That made for another situation that was uncomfortable for my party. Most of the food was okay to good, but the barbecue shrimp was terrible. The meat was mushy and the sauce terrible. The bright spot of the visit was our assistant waiter. Her service and recommendations were fantastic. She directed us to great drink choices and an even better dessert choice. Promote her!
Delicious food. The pasta special was terrific as was everything else
Great atmosphere, awesome service, outstanding food!!!
The food was amazing as always.
Last minute decide to go here for a bachelorette party , place was amazing . Food excellent and staff is so nice !
The roasted artichoke is amazing! Wait staff and manager were very friendly! We will definitely return. Thank you for a great experience!
The confit duck is phenomenal
Everything was great! Sat at the chefs table to watch my food being prepared. It was super different to actually watch your food being cooked. Since I was here for work I enjoyed the conversation with the chef and just other people who sat at the table as well. Overall great time
Great food that wasn't too expensive. At times it was hard to have a conversation due to the noise level.
Birthday celebration. Fantastic food and fabulous service. Great prices. Very nice wine. Everyone really enjoyed all of the food. They brought candles on the cake.
The food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. Recommend the buttermilk fried chicken and pork chop dishes. This is a great place for any special occasion, as the ambience is hip while still classy. We will definitely be back!
Great food! We wanted to try plates that are not available back home such as duck, stuffed wings, spicy alligator and the famous shrimp and grits! Will have to say that our waiter disappeared and someone else had to start cleaning our table, not quite sure what happened there. Overall fancy place, a bit expensive but worth a try!
There were 7 in our party. We all got something different. Everyone’s was excellent. Shrimps and grits, so delicious. My husband had the 8 oz boneless chicken thigh and sweet potatoes. He loved it, best he’s ever had. Everything was outstanding. I will definitely be back next time I’m in New Orleans
Really good food but the desserts were even better!
Unique twist on some traditional dishes. Service was spot on and everything we ordered was delicious! Wanted to try the gumbo since we were in New Orleans and it didn't disappoint but that might have been our least favorite. Stuffed chicken wings were unique and a great starter. My boyfriend loved the octopus he ordered. Since were weren't too hungry we shared the steak frites and I wish we had each ordered our own! Definitely recommend coming here.
Emerill - This is not a baaam. We were greeted with an odor coming from the bar...smelled like the mats behind the bar hadn't been cleaned in a while or definitely something hadn't been cleaned. It was prominent. Waitress was lovely and knowledgeable. Food was good, not great with what I thought were smaller than normal portions. I had the drum and my dining partner had the short ribs. We both had dessert...and shame on you for that bread pudding! Thank heavens, not like any like of bread pudding I've ever eaten or been served and I say that NOT IN A GOOD WAY! I also had some multi-layer cake which led me to believe that desserts just aren't your thing. Lots of GREAT restaurants in NOLA and unfortunately, you don't make the cut. Good, yes...Great, maybe another day.
My first time there but will not be my last! Service was great, food amazing! The overall experience was memorable!
The food was not that great. It actually kinda sucked. None of the things we tried hit the spot.
They only split the check 4 ways —- fish is incredible
I've eaten at NOLA many times in years past. It's a fabulous environment. However, this time I noticed the noise level (even before the restaurant was really full) was prohibitive of table conversation being able to occur on the second floor. The food was good not great. The biggest drawback was the considerable duration between receiving the appetizer and the entrée. It also was evident that once the restaurant was full, the staff were stressed to meet everyone's needs. I did notice really great teamwork occurring between the two servers in my area upstairs as well as a continued pleasant and helpful demeanor even though they were getting slammed. We were seated timely. Overall this was a fairly good experience but not up to par with my other experiences at this location. May not return on my next vacation. Thanks for the opportunity to provide input. I'm sorry my comments weren't more along the standard I've been used to at this restaurant. Thanks
The ribs had too much fat. We sent them back & ordered the pork chop with sweet potatoes. The pork chop was raw & the sweet potato was not fully cooked. The service was lousy. However, they did not charge us for the ribs or the pork chop.
A great menu! It was impossible to order everything we wanted to try. We will definitely return because the food was delicious; it was the highlight of our trip to New Orleans. The service was very good.
Let me start by saying my wife and I r big Emeril fans! Love his flagship restaurant, Emerils, and have been to Merils as well. Nola’s however missed the mark. First off multi level dining experience separates patrons and lessens the vibe throughout the restaurant especially for diners on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The service was not too good. Our waiter spilled my wine on two occasions trying to pour it in my glass. The street corn octopus was good and packed some flavor. My wife had the crab stuffed artichoke which she said was good but not much crab. The short rib dinner was good. My wife had the shrimp and grits which were ok. The shrimp are on the small side. As much as I wanted to try Nola’s I’ll stick to Emerils or Merils in the future.
I would recommend NOLA with a caveat--don't expect good service. I was surprised by several things. One, the web site stated that the dress code was "business casual." I understand a lot of tourists stop and eat, so their dress was expected. I did not, however, expect the wait staff to be wearing jeans. We were celebrating a major birthday for a family member. While we did not expect white tablecloths and waiters in suits, we were surprised by how casual the restaurant was. The other surprise was how poor the service was. When our waiter was at our table, he was attentive and did a pretty good job. But, it was getting him to our table that was the difficult part. When we were first seated, three of us got water. It took at least 15-20 minutes for the other parties at our table to get water. When our drink orders were finally taken, it took another 15-20 minutes for us to get our drinks. I would not have expected such poor service from an Emeril branded restaurant. As for the food, I believe everyone enjoyed their meal.
Noisiest restaurant I’ve ever been to
Wonderful food! Great Service!
Service was very slow, food was salty but good, the restaurant was loud but very cool.
Awesome food! Will be back again! Collared greens and cornbread was so good!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ dining experience! Always from first choice when I visit New Orleans!
Just ok, food was not that good. Price was not bad.
NOLA was outstanding!!!
Highly recommend for anyone visiting New Orleans!
From the moment we walked through the the door, my wife and I were treated like royalty. The ambiance and decor was classy, comfortable and relaxed without being pretentious. The staff was attentive, but unobtrusive. Their knowledge of the menu and food preparation was a tremendous help to our dining choices. The food was magnificent. A great and memorable dining experience!
NOLA used to be my favorite place when I came to New Orleans. Expected it to be high end. Not high end anymore. Mediocre service. Barbecued shrimp and grits not authentic any longer. Only one meal in 3 was above average. You charged $12 for a Manhattan and didn't even have the good cherries. Marchino cherries don't cut it. I will no longer take clients their. Sorry for the battery view but that's how I felt about it.
The food was definitely worth the cost. I would have paid more. You could tell that thought went into these creations and I appreciate being able to be a part of it. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Great ambiance, amazing service and food that is bursting with flavors that completely draw you into abother bite.
