A bit pricey with the cover for the musician, but dinner was a great experience! The food, wine list, and live music made the night.
Overall, very good. Great atmosphere with lots of character. Service was a little slow but attentive. Will be back.
Dropped on a busy Saturday night they had bar seating but also “bar” counters away from bar so nice and private. Delicious pastas excellent service
Great venue for sultry cool live jazz. Romantic place for a date or fun night out with a small group of intimate friends
Love Nocturne! Great service/food and wine list. Fantastic spot for live jazz, don’t miss this gem.
Really great band. Beautiful setting
Amazing venue!! Service was top notch, all the servers and staff were so attentive and polite. Great music, amazing ambience. We had an awesome time!!
Great music, wonderful night provided by a very attentive staff
The Annie Booth jazz Trio covered some Beatles songs the night I was there. For 'Oh, Darling', one of the Nocturne staff with an amazing voice came on stage to do the vocals, and another staff member played the sax for another song (which I can't now remember). Very entertaining evening for the $10 cover charge.
Just got drinks. Good vibe.
Well, let me say, I’m not a fan of “jazz”, the all encompassing word we use to define undefinable musical sounds. Some, yes. But often, no. On a whim, we decided to give it a try.
Blaring loud, completely overbearing everything from food to environment, it was impossible to enjoy. Did I mention I’m not a genre fan?
The tasting menu.....um. Yeah. The first course described to be “light”, was non existent, splashed in green juice. Ravioli was not al dente, but three minutes premature of al dente. There was another unmememorable course and some lamb belly fat which the fat was divine, skin crispy, but in lieu of everything else, could have been larger optioned. The final, “brownie” dessert course, was plain fail. It’s btiwnies ffs, how can 4 versions be equally disgusting. I dunno, that and one other course had a very artificial or left over taste. My very delicate Marlboro inspired pallete detected this taste right away in 2 courses.
All the above said, the staff were very well trained and very attentive in explaining the courses. And, w a couple glass of wine, a cocktail, and the service fee for the band, $170 was a fair price for 2 pax.
However, for say 250, less volume, perhaps no saxo-mo-phone, and an actual chef designed, cuisine forward meal, we’d return for another visit. Sadly, under its current iteration, we’d not even consider it.
We were blown away by the food - it’s really spectacular! Such a great place - the decor was so cool and to have a live jazz band play while we eat an amazing dinner and drink great wine was so memorable. My only small complaint was that we were seated directly next to the stage and at an awkward angle. Will request the second level next time.
Complementary champagne for birthday, attentive staff, live music
Lively and lovely anniversary!
Nocturne is always fun, with creative food, wonderful music and attentive service. They have a terrific wine list with good variety and knowledgeable sommeliers. There are always vegetarian and fish choices on the menu, which are prepared with attention to subtle seasoning, delighting your taste buds. The chef is gracious when you ask for accommodations, such as forgoing pig or squid products.
I love going to Nocturne for live jazz. I was confused though because I made reservations in advance last week and got placed at a small cocktail table next to other loud people. When I called the night before, I asked about a two top but was told they were all full. During the show there were 6 or 7 two tops that never got seated. Weird. I don’t drink and really go for the music. Nocturne is also not a good listening room as people are loud and do not seem to really care about those around them trying to listen to the performances. I basically heard this lady’s views on having kids and retirement plan while trying to listen to the Mingus tribute. She was loud and was distracting for most of the performance. Dazzle Jazz is a much better venue for a quiet, listening room environment. That all being said, I still love Nocturne because they support the local jazz musicians. I just wish other audience members were more respectful and into listening to the music more.
We had friends in from out of town. Loved the live music, and the seating arrangement Means there is not a bad seat in the house. I would have liked a better wine selection though.
My BF and I did a stay-cation in Denver and made a reservation at Nocturne for a Wednesday night. The jazz trio that was playing was very cool (guitar, organ, drums). We sat in front of the stage (small stage). There is also seating upstairs looking down at stage. The food is great, drinks great, service is amazing--efficient but unobtrusive. I came down with a stomach bug while there so ended up not eating my dinner while my BF had the braised short ribs which were amazing, he said. When we got the tab the waitress had comped my dinner. That was very nice and not asked for. We will definitely be back and try sitting upstairs as being downstairs I was always feeling the cold air when people came in from outside.
Very attentive and accommodating. Very nice evening!
We popped in after dinner for some music. We had a great seat and enjoyed our evening.
Great service and music!
Wonderful music, service, and food! We will be returning!
Impeccable service and a very fun experience overall!
Great entertainment, food and service. Great time!
Just went for the jazz with out of town friends. Music was really good as were the drinks. Will go again.
Few jazz clubs serve food and drinks this good
A terrific combination of gourmet food and great live jazz music. We had several small plates and the bison special. All were delicious!
We went for the music and was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and incredible drinks. Also, our waitress was exceptional. It was a very good experience.
Best live jazz venue in Denver! Awesome staff, great food and wine, and the best atmosphere for listening to jazz. Do yourself a favor and go find out how great it is for yourself.
Music and service was exceptional. Bar was stocked well and the drinks were inventive. Nice selection/variety on wine list. Food was unremarkable. Flavors were unimpressive and lacked proper seasoning and balance. Cheese/charcuterie board was essentially basic cheeses found in any large supermarket. The restaurant could elevate the food and really be a Denver institution. We will be back to enjoy music and cocktails....just not dinner.
Our night at Nocturne was lovely. The service was a bit slower than I was used to, however, everything else was top notch.
My boyfriend and I went to Nocturne Tuesday night, and we were blown away by the service, food, and music. It is our new favorite date night spot. We will definitely be back!
Also, the bassist with the quartet was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Cheers to keeping the jazz scene fresh and innovative!
This is a great addition to Denver's music and food scene. Excellent food and service and the music can't be beat.
Excellent food and service in a very cool space and terrific music.
Very nice jazz venue. Food was very good especially for a music venue. I would go there again.
The live jazz was exceptional and the absolute highlight of the night. My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate his birthday and it was a great spot for a special occasion. The food and drinks were delicious- aside from the music, the drinks menu was one of the reasons I chose Nocturne! The service was great as well. My only recommendations are to book a reservation- walk-ins are likely to get standing room only, unless there happens to be an open seat at the bar- and to book it well in advance. I booked our reservation about four days in advance and the only seating still available was at the bar. We still got a cozy table for two in the bar area, which worked out well for us.
Everything was wonderful, except our drinks took a long time and there was little space on our mini table to actually eat our food, but otherwise a great time!
Amazing music. Delicious menu. Big city quality
Nocturne always has great music, good food and drinks, service and atmosphere.
The food and service was great. The creative cocktail menu and wine list are impressive. Not the least expensive place in town but quality food and drink.
My only complaint was the volume of diners voices as many of then try to speak over the music. Some other jazz clubs in Denver announce to their patrons that this is a listening room, please keep your conversation to a minimum while the band is playing. Nocturne mildly suggests that patrons respect their neighbors who have come to hear the outstanding music. It’s not enough! People have a drink and think the band is playing backup music to their loud conversations. It spoils the experience for those of us who have come to enjoy the musicianship of those players on stage. At the end of the night we are awarded a high dining and entertainment check for a medeocre listening experience.
