Refined Asian-style teahouse by day, funky izakaya by night: Nobuo at Teeter House reflects the fascinating duality of Nobuo Fukuda.

The setting — a turn-of-the-century, wood-floored bungalow, awash in earth tones — emulates the relaxed intimacy of Japan’s izakaya, where friends and business associates gather to eat Japanese-style tapas, drink beer and have fun. Nobuo elevates the custom while staying true to its low brow roots, offering rustic Japanese classics with modern American inflections.

During the day, a short lunch menu is offered, as are exotic, aromatic teas, meant to be sipped and savored over quiet conversation.

In the evening, Nobuo creates"5-Star" cuisine, bringing a Western sensibility to Japanese sushi traditions while combining seasonal ingredients in exciting, inventive ways.

Teeter House has 2 separate dining rooms, each with the capability of seating up to 16 guests as well as a lounge which seats up to 6. A "room buyout" is perfect for a smaller party comprised of 8-16 guests. A dining room or the lounge may be reserved as a "room buyout" for a 1/2 or full night.

A full restaurant buyout option for private parties of 16-40 maximum is also available. Please contact the restaurant to book your party.

The tasting menu had unique ingredient combinations that were terrific and with the wine pairings were a real treat. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Great place to try new flavors.

Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Unfortunately they stuck us at a table in the entry next to the hostess podium so everyone coming in loitered by our table. Make sure you specify seating in your reservation.

Nobuo was recommended by friends but was a big disappointment. Indifferent wait staff, food that was not reminiscent of anything we had in Japan nor interesting in its own right, and prices that were ridiculous given the tiny servings. We would not recommend it to anybody.

Nobuo Fukuda is the most creative chef in Arizona and a wonderful person. The cuisine includes both cooked poultry, meats and fish, as well as, fresh sashimi. Every dish is a culinary delight. The desserts should not be overlooked because they are fantastic and worth visiting the restaurant, if only for these finishing delights. If you are not a fan of sashimi, don’t let that scare you because the cooked dishes are out of this world, too.

My go to place when I’m in town for meeting, excellent food quality and service. Chef Nobou offers fix menu and a la cart as well with seasonal farm fresh. You can also request for amakase in advance. Highly recommended and I would be back again.

Nobuo is an extra special treat. The food is amazing and I highly recommend the tasting menu. This little gem deserves more attention but I am selfishly happy it flies under the radar

Creative food with incredible execution and delivery. I am unable to emphasize enough the quality and creativity of each dish. I’ve visited twice in the last four weeks and I am looking forward to the next visit,hopefully soon.
Some dishes are on par with Eric Rupert at Le Bernardin.
Thank God Nobuo is not in DC NY or even Scottsdale as getting a table would be impossible.

excellent food and service that try’s - food came out quick and was well prepared and unique - the only challenge I had was the speed in which alcohol was provided - we waited 30 minutes for our first drink to arrive — service was superb other than that - loved our server -
