Nobuo at Teeter House
The setting — a turn-of-the-century, wood-floored bungalow, awash in earth tones — emulates the relaxed intimacy of Japan’s izakaya, where friends and business associates gather to eat Japanese-style tapas, drink beer and have fun. Nobuo elevates the custom while staying true to its low brow roots, offering rustic Japanese classics with modern American inflections.
During the day, a short lunch menu is offered, as are exotic, aromatic teas, meant to be sipped and savored over quiet conversation.
In the evening, Nobuo creates"5-Star" cuisine, bringing a Western sensibility to Japanese sushi traditions while combining seasonal ingredients in exciting, inventive ways.

What a wonderful find in a landscape full of culinary mediocrity - a real gem
Arigato for a wonderful experience
The tasting menu was great up until dessert. The cake was truly not good. This would have been fine if I weren't paying $100 per meal plus tip. It's a shame when I can get better cake for $7-10 elsewhere. Our waiter also wasn't the most attentive. For $240 for two people, I was a bit disappointed. It was a good one time experience, but for that price, I wouldn't go back.
Unbelievable. Don't go unless everyone in the party is into raw meat, bad service with eye rolls and unbathed servers.
When my wife found lamb chops on the menu, she was told that they are served rare. We asked if they could be grilled to Medium and were told no because the chef insists that it's his way or the highway. We took the highway-- across the street to Pizzeria Bianco--which was awesome. The couple of things we ordered were good, as in okay. Nothing special. Lots of snobbery for just okay. And prices that are not justified for the dining experience.
We opted for $80.00 per person chef’s selection. It was almost too much to eat. Each selection was outstanding. Highly recommend. Just remember Nobu is now open in Scottsdale and there can be some confusion as the two names are very similar.
Amazing food, amazing staff, and talented chef.
Value is always in the eyes of the beholder, but $80 a person for this tasting menu was phenomenal. Seven artfully crafted dishes, I was happy to be a part of the experience.
A must have, and a must return.
We ordered the tasting menu. The food was OK but I was expecting something better for the price. The oysters weren’t fresh. Everything else was good.
The server was great and answered all of our questions, including checking with the kitchen to figure out what foods I could consider in view all of my food allergies.
One of our top 5 dinner houses in the greater Phoenix AZ area. Quality food and attentive service a unique experience.
Wonderful culinary experience. Shiromi carpaccio was a great and pleasant surprise. Saikyo yaki was nicely executed that can meet the level of the restaurant my home town Kyoto, Japan.
The volume of each plate is light. You can order several entries. They also have $100, $80 courses.
Serving staff were friendly, calm and knowledgeable.
The historical house that the restaurant is located gives nice quiet atmosphere.
You can use valet parking by the pizza restaurant.
A true Phoenix gem. This is food as art. There are no bad dishes and Nobuo is a true artist.
One of our favorite places. The service is always exemplary as is the food. It’s a great entertaining place to go.
Excellent food on Saturday lunch menu. In-laws were impressed.
The food was excellent as always, although very rich and somewhat monochromatic in flavors. Services was incredibly confused, with nobody knowing anything about their own wine list, flashes of continuing bothering and then disappearance, and a rush at the end to get us out without offering dessert. Noise level is high and the spot odd.
This was our first time at Nobuo. In our party of 4, each person couldn't say enough good things about the food we so greatly enjoyed. It was fresh, interesting, and delicious. We were celebrating two birthdays, and enjoyed every minute of our celebration. Thank you.
My wife and I had a great date night out at Nobuo and enjoyed every minute of it. The food is fantastic, it's very intimate and quiet and the servers are knowledgeable and kind. It's definitely not inexpensive, but the quality of the food makes the value very worthwhile. I definitely recommend it for anyone who is interested in trying ingredients and dishes that you don't find often in the Phoenix area but without the attitude and pomp and circumstance that comes with most inventive and trendy places.
The snobby waiter
Very pricey- and sort of worth it
Desert was great
The food was absolutely incredible! Chef Fukuda took great lengths to customize an amazing menu for us. The quality of the ingredients is spectacular and I highly recommend Nobuo.
This place is always amazing.
Nobou never disappoints. We had the curried lamb chops. They were outstanding. Love the clams and mushrooms also. Persimmon and pear pie was a new taste sensation.
Super nice food and service
We LOVED the meal, the experience and the FOOD!!!!!! FANTASTIC!!! Will definitely be back. Delightful!
Nobuo is an absolutely unique dining experience. My brother - a true foodie - was visiting from Boston, and his take was, that not only was the food and service outstanding, but it feels with each course, that the Chef's are cooking only for you - it's that personal and intimate an experience. Every course, and we had twelve of them, was fantastic. I've been to Nobuo three times a year for the last nine years, and all I can say, is this tradition will continue. I've never been disappointed. I just hope Phoenix, in general, doesn't lose sight of what a gem this restaurant truly is. It's not just a place to eat - it's a vision.
Great tasting menu at $80. Nice set up. Very good service. Black Code was perfect.
I was not at all impressed with the food here. I had the duck salad. Duck was chewy and lacked flavor. Greens were grilled, but very little of them. This was more like an appetizer portion. Soft shell crab sandwich was ok. No options for sides or extra food. The waiter forgot to bring me a sample I asked for. Beef choices good. Would suggest a kid's menu. It is right outside the Science Museum, after all.
I would advice to get all the sashimi on the menu, they’re amazing! The tasting menu is also good, but the sashimi are the best!
Reserved as Birthday celebration for 2, but was not acknowledged. No special dessert for Birthday people.
A ridiculously overrated place. Unbelievably expensive for tiny scraps of mediocre food. They were even stingy with bread! One of the worst examples of pretentious nonsense I have ever experienced.
We've dined here several times and it does not disappoint. My favorite menu item is the Hamachi...it's just excellent. It's also nice to be greeted warmly by the staff and Nobuo as well.
The historic home is charming. The service was excellent. The tasting menu was exquisitely plated, served elegantly and at a leisurely pace... and seductively delicious.
We had a fabulous meal at Nobuo - highly recommend!
Excellent food. Quality ingredients, creative, expertly prepared and attractively presented. Great, knowledgeable service.
Excellent food and outstanding service. Highly recommend.
Great ambiance and service. The food is outstanding
This was our second visit to Nobuo first time during restaurant week. The three course meal was incredible, I highly recommend the add-on appetizers offered and the gin sour cocktail.
Went for Restaurant Week. Though everything was great, including service and food, we had a much better meal when we visited previously (not a limited menu).
Enjoy the healthy, yet always delicious and surprising food from chef Nobuo.
We use restaurant week to try out new restaurants to see if they will be regulars on our list, or if we will bring or recommend guests. This restaurant gets a lot of hype; what a disappointment. From the dry hostess to the dry chocolate brownie. Honestly, everything in both of our Bento boxes tasted and appeared to come out of chafing dishes in a buffet. Sad to have to write this review, we had high hopes.
We came for an anniversary dinner on 9/7 and a birthday lunch on 9/12 and had a lovely time! The Tasting Menu was diverse and flavorful, and the lunch menu was just as delicious and filling as the dinner. The atmosphere was quiet and calm, perfect for a small celebration. We highly recommend this restaurant for a wonderful experience and amazing food!
The food here is fabulous. I have spent time me in Japan and the cuisine is equal to some of the finest restaurants in Kyoto and Tokyo.
Great service, but the food was bland and the restaurant had no ambience for a Friday night at 8pm.
