My daughter and I had dinner at Nobu before going to The Nutcracker. Our waiter was excellent & helped us make some excellent choices. He was also very mindful of our time. The food was excellent, beautifully presented & very creative. Very expensive but fun for a special evening.
Were were there on Thursday evening, at 6 ans it wasn’t busy at all. Our shef was Superstar! He made fantastic sashimi variety and was knowledgeable about the food. I was fortunate to try plenty different Sushi Bars, and as delicious as it was, it was definitely not worth it.

Really just not very good in terms of good service or ambiance. Very disappointing. More like a tourist trap than fine dining but priced like a michellen 3 star restaurant. Sushi was flavorless and was obviously not fresh— we went on a Tuesday granted not the best night for fresh fish but this was really just bad on all counts. Nothing special and if the sushi is $16 a piece it better be something grand. Stay away. You might as well go to bubba gumps.
Nobu is always good in terms of food quality, this location might be less iconic than some of the others (Malibu for example) but the food quality and service is sensational. Also, the specials only available at this location are really impressive, the locally sourced Lobster Tempura is excellent and great value.
The food is amazing. Every dish we had was excellent. But the prices are very high - which we knew going in. For the prices, the ambience should be better. It feels like a high end kitchen. I’ve been to the one in Dubai & it’s a nicer feel. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend this to anyone.
Meh. I love Japanese food and traditions but this experience was very limited and felt very "franchised", which I guess it is now. No Chef's choice, no sake flights, no originality, no particular focus. Food coming out in the wrong order. My $1,200 for three people would've been better spent at so many other Japanese restaurants in the US.
Service was impeccable. Everything we ate was an experience because we are first time with this style of dining and we loved it. I even tried the cold sake and enjoyed it immensely. The decor and ambiance are fitting to the food so it just feels natural and easy.
Went there with hubby for dinner because have read rave reviews and the great rating sold me on it. Alas, I was disappointed by the experience. It's not that it was bad. No, it was so ordinary, that it was totally not worth the money and time spent. I guess it's because of the name and the location, but we have been to far more expensive restaurants where the food quality and meal presentation were way superior. Busy, crowded, feels like a bistro and not an expensive place.
Wait staff were robots with zero emotion. Our orders were misplaced & never came out or came out wrong & late. Manager tried to do the right thing & provided free Desert & a few other entree items but that doesn’t make up for terrible service on a special birthday occasion.
What else can you say? The food was excellent as always, the service was very attentive, and the ambiance was great.
The only issue is that you have to leave the restaurant and walk down the hall in the Hard Rock lobby to find the rest rooms.
A small inconvenience, don’t let it spoil an otherwise great experience.
The waitress that worked with us was very nice. She made some nice recommendations. Apart from the Japanese Snapper, we did not like any of the food. The fries that came with the "fish and chips" were awful. The second you finish your drink someone comes to take it away. Felt more like fast food than a good dinner restaurant.
Were given a booth for six people though it was only two of us and there were plenty of small tables available.
I think if someone pays for these prices they deserve a comfortable chair and not feel like sitting in a staff canteen.
I loved Nobu; I had been wanting to eat at one of the locations for a while. The San Diego location was lovely. The wait staff was attentive but a little snooty, which was somewhat unappealing. They definitely push the higher priced items. That being said, my husband and I made good choices and our bill was average for our date nights. I recommend Nobu for special occasions or date night but it’s rather loud so you won’t be able to hear everyone if you have a large group.
Excellent high Quality authentic Japanese Food, Sushi prepared just in sight with the best possible ingredients at their best temperature. One of the very best Sushi experiences I ever had.
Service very attentive, but did not serve water voluntarily, as often in the US tried to clear the table as soon as the guests declared not to order anything else although the Restaurant was not fully booked.
