Nobu Downtown Ratings and Reviews
A wonderful dining experience. The Matsuhisa Martini was one of the best I've had. Nobu is a real treat for seafood fans, and I was tempted by the Black Cod with Miso, but ended up selecting the Roasted Chilean Seabass. It was a joy to eat. But the standout for me was the Bigeye & Bluefin Toro Tartar. Simply put, it was sublime.
Found reception and person on the phone snobby and unfriendly.
I️ don’t like restaurants that call you in advance to tell you only have 2 hours to eat because they need the table back. (They would have had the table back in time if they hadn’t taken 15 min to bring the bill and another 20 to come back to take payment).
Ambiance was great. Food was good and staff generally friendly.
If the aim of the new place was to turn Nobu into a fancy fast food restaurant, job well done. Other than that, wouldn´t go there for a second time since the food was average to be polite, the service verry different to what you have come to expect from Nobu and the overall atmosphere has more of an annual fair than you would like to have.
Tables so close together that we had to listen to the dinner conversation of the group next to us the whole night. Service was poor - We managed to get to a bottle of wine after the third appetizer. While Miso glazed cod was to-die-for, the rest of our choices (tuna and lobster tacos, shrimp tempura and the sushi rolls) were bland and nothing to write home about.. too expensive for the mediocre experience..
I've been there a number of times before but this outing was very scattershot. Kitchen forgot the special request for birthday, which had been confirmed on the confirmation of reservation. Espressos I read of cappuccinos. Waitress was very nice and accommodating but the upstairs space seems understaffed. Disappointing. Especially at $$$$.
We left disappointed. Nobu's new location is beautiful. The food was excellent although the meal was not as impressive as the one I had in their original location. The service was poor and very disappointing. You expect a restaurant of this caliber to have exceptional waitstaff. My entree arrived 25 minutes after my wife's. She had already eaten her food and had it cleared. Over 20 minutes had passed before the waiter even stopped by to tell me it was on its way. This was a great way to ruin my anniversary meal. He didn't even have the late entree comped.
I am very very upset by my experience at nobu downtown. My friend and I came for a special night out, but the service was Really poor. My friend has a pretty bad allergy, and when we asked about foods with her allergy in it the server was “unsure “ if there were any in the food we ordered which is UNACCEPTABLE at a restaurant of that expense. The food was mediocre, but have never had worse service at a restaurant of that quality in my life. The manager apologized after, and gave us a free drink, but after spending so much on dinner I was truly disappointed. I am sad to say it would take a lot for me to return back. Below is what our server called a spicy salmon roll... which looked like a supermarket bought salmon roll .... extremely underwhelming
Nobu menu is terrific. New location is nice, although it was very noisy and the waiter seemed a little scattered. There were long periods of time when he went missing. However, whenever he did return to the table the first thing he did was refill our sake glasses which we didn't necessarily want him to do. It seemed kind of aggressive in getting us to order more.
