About Nobu Fifty Seven
Nobu Fifty Seven, the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, opened to much anticipation in the summer of 2005. Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso, and the hibachi table. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.
Designed by David Rockwell, Nobu Fifty Seven evokes fluidity and the imagery of an Asian river with curves and details of abalone shell chandeliers, sliced bamboo stalks in terrazzo tiles, scorched ash tables and Japanese quilt fabric. Sake barrels imported from Japan tower over the first floor bar counter as diners make way to the upstairs dining room. Burnished woods, rich hues and soft lighting create an ambiance of elegance and refinement.

Nobu Fifty Seven Ratings and Reviews
As usual, the food is very good and the service is quite attentive.
However, we felt very rushed and for the price of the meal, we should be able to enjoy every minute.
The hostess who phoned to confirm our reservation even told us what time the table would have to be "given up".
Not a great way to head into the restaurant. Also, each dish came the second we put down our chopsticks. There wasn't even a respit in between.
I ate here some time ago for business and this time took the family for a belated Christmas dinner. I should've remembered that I felt hungry, rushed and monetarily "spent" afterwards.
A hidden gem in New York City. We booked this restaurant prior to arriving in NYC and unknowingly walked past its entrance daily. Once inside it was heaving with locals and tourists alike - a good sign. Our waitress was knowledgable of the menu and made some excellent suggestions. There was a really great atmosphere and well behaved children were completely weclomed! Our 5 year old enjoyed the evening as much as us, as well as the shrimp tempura. Fabulous, fresh japanese food and an extensive bar menu...5 Stars from us.
I usual don’t mind pay a lot for food as long as the food is good but this wasn’t the case here. Every dish I had was salty my friend order the fish bento box for $50 and the fish she got was cod, for $50 I expect at least a sea bass.
Also they deliver our food at different times, so I watched my friend eat and she watched me eating my food.
Very disappointing, scratch this place off the least.
We were there to celebrate my stepdaughter’s birthday. She had always wanted, but had never been to Nobu. From the food to the service, attention to detail to the dessert surprise, it was a magical night. I comment the staff at Nobu for making another night at this location very special.
Only complaint: We arrived early for our 5:45 pm reservation and we were told we could wait at the bar. We sat at the half booth with the little tables along the window which was great. Then the waitress told us our table was ready and we gave up the seats. When we walked over to the hostess she told us there was no early seating?? And the waitress had given up our seat at the bar. The service upstairs more than made up for any inconvenience. Our waiter was perfect. All the wait staff was incredibly attentive. Excellent food - especially the beef dishes. So tender and the sauce was delicious.
