As the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, we opened with much anticipation in the summer of 2005.Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

    The food here was absolutely incredible. I had the Miso Black Cod paired with the Grapefruit Martini which were both 10/10. My daughter had a roll and nigiri which was so fresh. We had to run from our show on Broadway to the restaurant and were about 10 minutes late! Not only did they have no problem with it, but they Sat us at a table when I reserved a spot at the bar (because it was all that was available), so we were so happy. They also charged my phone! All said and done, wonderful experience and highly recommend.

    We were a table of two and our server forgot to put in my order of a Bento box. I wasn’t sure of the timing because my companion ordered a bunch of smaller dishes. After 35 minutes I asked about my food and he said he forgot to put it in. A few minutes later he brought everything out at once. My soup, cold sushi, and hot entrees. It really threw off the meal. He apologized but didn’t offer a free drink or anything. It felt like he kept trying to upsell us when we ordered, get the wagyu, get this, we joked that we felt like he would be a good used car dealer. We ordered $200 worth of food for two so it’s not like we were being frugal. If he stopped trying to upsell us maybe he would have remembered my order.

    It was our first time at Nobu, very underwhelmed and disappointed. We were sat upstairs, the couches were torn and it was so loud and we had different expectations of this place. We thought it would be a fancy restaurant with a nice vibe but it turned out to be Cheesecake Factory vibe, just a big chain restaurant with bad food, loud people, run down and servers were just okay. We had the creamy spicy crab, it was just okay- best dish of the night tho. We ordered wagyu tataki, it wasn’t good at all and when were asked what we think of it I said I didn’t like it. The only answer we got was okay and the servers walked away immediately. I understand that everyone likes different things but it felt like the server didn’t care at all, we did mention again how it wasn’t good and rock shrimps were so soggy and no one cared. Over all bad experience and getting chipotle would be better

    From the moment we walked in --the hosts to the wait staff was top notch. great service from everyone. My old fashioned was life-changing as were all of the dishes we had. The miso cod was actually our least favorite and i love miso cod -- the waitperson gave us the best reccomendations!!
