About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Hot spot
  • Lively
As the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, we opened with much anticipation in the summer of 2005.Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

It was our first time at Nobu, very underwhelmed and disappointed. We were sat upstairs, the couches were torn and it was so loud and we had different expectations of this place. We thought it would be a fancy restaurant with a nice vibe but it turned out to be Cheesecake Factory vibe, just a big chain restaurant with bad food, loud people, run down and servers were just okay. We had the creamy spicy crab, it was just okay- best dish of the night tho. We ordered wagyu tataki, it wasn’t good at all and when were asked what we think of it I said I didn’t like it. The only answer we got was okay and the servers walked away immediately. I understand that everyone likes different things but it felt like the server didn’t care at all, we did mention again how it wasn’t good and rock shrimps were so soggy and no one cared. Over all bad experience and getting chipotle would be better

From the moment we walked in --the hosts to the wait staff was top notch. great service from everyone. My old fashioned was life-changing as were all of the dishes we had. The miso cod was actually our least favorite and i love miso cod -- the waitperson gave us the best reccomendations!!

Always a quality meal. Service was fantastic. Sit at the Sushi counter and watch the chefs work magic. Expensive meal but worth it.

Service was very slow and bad. We had to ask for food menus a couple times and continued to wait long periods of time after asking for simple things. Staff was friendly it just didn’t seem like there was enough people working. Food quality was okay.

After being to every Nobu except one in the United States. This was probably the best meal I’ve ever had at Nobu. Don’t get me wrong. They are all amazing! And every time you go it’s an amazing experience. But this time at 57 it was over the top.
