As the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, we opened with much anticipation in the summer of 2005.Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. Service was okay. We felt hurried. The waiter did not get our drinks first. Instead salad and some food came out first. We then waited for our drinks. Then after some food the soup came out. Odd. I would have thought drinks, then soup and then the food. Food in general is good but I have been to Nobu a few times and would say compared to American and Italian restaurants, the overall service and serving order is not great.

Things went well until we were forcefully pushed out the door as we were waiting for an Uber while it was raining outside. We sat upstairs and had a good experience. We headed downstairs and used the restroom. Afterward we stood to book a car. The manager physically pushed us out into the indoor/outdoor entrance. Then stood there and harassed us until we went fully outside. He claimed he needed to go home. Meanwhile other customers were still finishing their drinks inside. Never in my life have I ever been treated so rudely for no reason. What a horrible establishment with men who harass women.

The food is always unique and good. My problem was I called when the restaurant opened to have them save two orders of dumplings which I love. They took my name and reservation time but when I arrived there were no dumplings. The waiter said they do not serve them at lunch, but I have had them many times at lunch. Then the waiter said the people answering the phone do not always communicate the information to the kitchen. No matter what the story is all I know is I was quite disappointed to not have the dumplings I ordered. When you go to a premier restaurant you do not expect to hear excuses like those given.

It was my boyfriends birthday yesterday and we came to nobu on 57th to celebrate. We both work in the restaurant industry, and being a server in fine dining myself I was quite disappointed with the slow service. Our server only came over to the table 4 times in total, never checked if we wanted to put in entrees after our appetizer or if we wanted drinks. He also never stopped by after we received our food to make sure everything was okay. Any time we wanted to order something we had to flag him down. Support staff really did save the night, with the food runner taking the time to explain what exactly was in our dishes and pouring our waters. The toro tartare with caviar was excellent, paired perfectly with a ginger sauce and I enjoyed the black cod miso and the shrimp and lobster dishes, but for a $400 dinner (after a 20% tip) I would expect better service, especially considering it was noted in the reservation that it was a birthday.

I am very disappointed in the experience at nobu last night. I came here last year and thoroughly enjoyed my experience, the food and the ambiance. However, last night; the food was very low quality. The sushi was not fresh. The service was extra slow, the waiter we were assigned was miserable and there was no ambiance. I am super disappointed in Nobu, and I will not be returning nor would I recommend it to a friend.

Really great dinner. Service was prompt and helpful - steered us towards the best house dishes, which were some of our favorites. Even dessert (buttermilk donuts) was fantastic. Overall, our party had a very enjoyable experience.

I never have had a bad experience with Nobu, uptown or downtown. The omakase is absolutely worth the cost -- everything was delicious. The servers are helpful and accommodating and the whole atmosphere is what restaurants should aspire to. Will be back again and again!

Truly amazing meal. Perfect combination of Japanese and Peruvian flavors. The jalapeño yellowtail, tenderloin anticuchos, Wagu dumplings and lobster ceviche were all out of this world. Great service and fun ambiance.

My girlfriends favorite place as she got a much coveted reservation there back when it opened and she was living in the city. There for a quick few day trip. I've been to several of their locations. This one did not disappoint. Great food, great service etc. Sneak in there if you get the chance
