Japanese
Nobu Fifty Seven, the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, opened to much anticipation in the summer of 2005. Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso, and the hibachi table. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

Designed by David Rockwell, Nobu Fifty Seven evokes fluidity and the imagery of an Asian river with curves and details of abalone shell chandeliers, sliced bamboo stalks in terrazzo tiles, scorched ash tables and Japanese quilt fabric. Sake barrels imported from Japan tower over the first floor bar counter as diners make way to the upstairs dining room. Burnished woods, rich hues and soft lighting create an ambiance of elegance and refinement.

Brought my daughter to NY for her first trip here only to have Broadway close the day before! So needed to find other ways to make this trip special and safe...grateful we were able to get a reservation at Nobu- it’s my daughter’s favorite restaurant in LA! Food was excellent...service was amazing!

Awesome visit for Sunday Lunch. The $57 fixed menu is a total bargain and a great sampler. Don’t forget to add some tacos too though. Cocktails well worth it too. We will be back. Thank You Nobu.

Food is always delicious. They should increase the portions on some dishes though. Overall always a solid place.

Food was mediocre, they serve very, very small portions for the price. You leave there spending hundreds with an empty stomach.

After 5 years in a row of coming for my son’s birthday. This will be the last. We have done the chef tasting every year. This was a bit disappointment tonight.

Awful. Pretentious. Cringe worthy. Sexiest. Such a shame as the food is great. The atmosphere is loud. The waiters will only acknowledge male customers. If you are a tourist they will treat you like you’re stupid and pay their attention to the tables with the rich old men and their young escorts (which is the majority of the crowd). Plenty of kid couples taking a picture of everything that’s put in front of them too. It’s just a shame. I wish I knew where to go for this quality of food without the bling and the pretence. This is by far the worst nobu for that in my experience (London, Malibu, LA, Hawaii and Cape Town to compare).

I will say that if your going for the food I would choose another sushi place this is by far the most overrated place I’ve heard so much about and was so not impressed , we ordered simple rolls that were just ehhh .. and the rock spicy shrimp everyone raves about was like eating fried popcorn shrimp with drowned in a heavy ranch sauce .. they are totally overpriced and not that great .. maybe it’s more of a hangout with co workers or friends type of place ..

Like a fast food! Medium quality food, tired ambience and employees. Nothing remembering the well known Nobu. Very sad, it used to be my favorite!

Waiters were polite and everything went well, but we always had to ask more water or more wine. No one came to ask if we needed more, even our glasses were empty. And by the time we got more wine we had already finished the course.
So we didn’t feel like we were taken care of the way you are supposed to feel in this kind of restaurant.
And if there would have been even little bit of selling or even recommending anything it would have made our experience easier.
No one asked if the food was good and actually crispy softshell crab was burnt, but we didn’t have a change to tell a waiter and we were hungry so we eat it, even tho it was not good.
Our first course that came really fast was a wrong dish, we told this immediately but the right dish came 3 courses later and we would have wanted to start with that one.
But food was good if softshell crab won’t be count in.
