Japanese
Nobu Fifty Seven, the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, opened to much anticipation in the summer of 2005. Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso, and the hibachi table. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

Designed by David Rockwell, Nobu Fifty Seven evokes fluidity and the imagery of an Asian river with curves and details of abalone shell chandeliers, sliced bamboo stalks in terrazzo tiles, scorched ash tables and Japanese quilt fabric. Sake barrels imported from Japan tower over the first floor bar counter as diners make way to the upstairs dining room. Burnished woods, rich hues and soft lighting create an ambiance of elegance and refinement.

Food is top.
Service was ok.
I was there to celebrate my NYC Marathon medal, and I ve asked to have some ice to put on my knee, but the manager told me that was impossible to do that because they don’t act like a pharmacy!!!

Too noisy, impossible to talk with your friends. The most important, at lease for me, when you have dinner with friends is to talk and comunicate with everibody. For having dinner with music alone I can have it at home.

Excellent Japanese. The 57 omikase menu is great, but unsure if it was worth the extra over the standard omikase.

Overrated. Service was slow and inattentive. Sushi was fresh- We only tried their traditional sushi offerings and not their specials.

We visit NYC every year and always go to Nobu 57. It’s a wonderful treat in a location near the museums.

It is a restaurant for tourists and for large groups who want to remember having an expensive night out in New York. Nothing we ordered was as well-made as the same dish at Sushi Seki or Blue Ribbon. The desserts are made to look impressive rather than taste good.

I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The lobster Inaniwa Pasta salad was amazing and the Japanese Wagyu steak was delicious. My husband and I loved to try other dishes there. We loved the sushi selection there the most. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."

We were celebrating my sons birthday with his 5 best friends from college
Our waiter made excellent suggestion and was very attentive
We were not rushed at all
ONE BIG PROBLEM. Since I told them I’m advance it would be a nut free table NO ONE mentioned all their desserts have nuts—I would have brought my own if I had known
Really unacceptable from such an upscale restaurants where I easily spent over one thousand dollars

overrated.

pricing is excessively high.

the steak was extremely mediocre.

plates were scratched.

fusion concept - at least on the lunch menu - is a laughable. There's hardly any real fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine from what we had.

We had a wonderful experience at Nobu. We tried the Manila location and it was much better as the ingredients were all fresh. This location in New York did not disappoint. For was excellent and the server was extremely helpful and has a great attention to details.

Thank you for the wonderful meal.

This my 3rd time here and the last. I raved about the miso soup I had previously so I went there specifically for that and it was...salty. My husband ordered 2 tacos that cost $19 each. They were literally bite sized, 1 inch long. Seriously, the lime slice it came with was larger. We thought that was hilarious and still laugh about it! We and my 70 year old father thought the “club” atmosphere with 20 something’s in sequin miniskirts was pretty funny too. Not a fan of sushi or mushrooms, we couldn’t find anything else to eat. Spent a couple hundred bucks, left hungry, and are street hot dogs.

Been to both downtown and midtown locations several times. Menu and decor of midtown Nobu feel tired and dated; and for a supposedly high-end restaurant, the restroom was disgusting... no ventilation and smelly (get some scents in there!) with used paper overflowing. They can ride on their name and the corporate expense account for a while, but even with a corporate expense account, I wouldn't take clients there again unless there's nothing around available.

The service and ambience was great but the most of foods are very salty. My 3 guests and I had the classic lunch box, the sushi of the first box was great but others are so salty, so we couldn’t eat all.
