Noah Grant's Grill House and Oyster Bar Ratings and Reviews
I escorted a customer of mine and his wife to dinner. They are from Georgia, and come to our facility quarterly. Noah Grant's is always on the agenda for one of the dinners that we take them to while they are in town. My customer is a fan of single malt scotch, and loves the variety that Noah Grant's offers. We never leave without ordering oysters on the half shell. They are fresh and of good quality. Always enjoy ourselves at this restaurant.
This was our first trip to Noah Grants. The food was excellent. We really enjoyed the Oysters and the butter cake desert.
Our table was right by the kitchen so there was a lot of activity back by us and one really annoying fly!
We will go back, the food and service were outstanding.
I made reservations two days in advance yet we were seated in the somewhat cramped and busy front hallway. As I was ordering at ~8 PM, I was told they were out of sour cream. I felt like saying, could you send someone to the store? The shrimp cocktail sauce was about 50% Horseradish sauce (way too much) and my loaded potato wasn't (a couple of butter patties, a sprinkle of cheese and a few bacon bits). After my wife's soup arrived we had to flag down the waitress to get a spoon. All relatively minor items but, to me, they reflect a lack of attention to detail--the deference between a great and a good restaurant.
We were celebrating my birthday on a Sunday night. We were seated by the entrance, next to a large/loud party (making conversation difficult), and under a ceiling fan (on a cool night) that couldnt be turned off (bc it would also kill the light). Food was delicious, although we sat for 10 mins before a waiter showed up at our table. Other than that, great experience.
Noah Grants is my favorite restaurant in Zionsville. The food is excellent, the wait staff is really good. Sherri has done a fabulous job of keeping everything WAY above par. Steak Night is a true find- I am coming back on Wednesday night real soon. Bring your family and friends to Noah Grants even if you have to make up an excuse to celebrate. I look forward to the new location, too because I know they are all working so hard to make it special. There's a family charm about the restaurant. They all work together to make sure you come back.
This restaurant has gone downhill. It used to be a fantastic place that we looked forward to visiting. The food quality has taken a dramatic downturn and the service was poor. They changed what I called one of the best meals of my life (seafood risotto) into a shrimp and scallops risotto which was so lack luster that I didn't finish or take home to finish. Something would have to change for me to recommend this place, but it has reached the point that they have stopped trying and they count on regular Zionsville patrons to sustain their business. Please turn this restaurant back into the gem I found a long time ago.
Evening was fantastic having Logan as the server. He explained everything including the Halibut special which was absolutely perfect. My wife had the King Crab legs and she said they were tremendous. Salad and sushi was also fantastic. This is on our "must go to" regular list now.
We liked the setting of Noah Grants in quaint downtown Zionsville. We were originally seated inside at a rather cramped table near the bar. When we asked about outdoor seating, the hostess was polite and quickly rearranged things and seated us at a nice 2 top on the porch. We liked the outdoor seating better. Things went downhill from there though in terms of service. Our waiter was very inexperienced (he even told us he had only been working there for a few days.) Noah needs to do a much better job of training his staff. We ordered sangria and a scotch and waited at least 15 minutes for them to be delivered. The waiter blamed the busy bar. The drinks were good when they finally got there but I asked for lemon for my water which never appeared. I was interested in the sushi and asked waiter to describe the difference between two of the crab meat sushis and he said he had no idea, again reminding us he just started working at Noah Grant's. I seemed to know more about sushi than he did, and I am no expert. We ordered appetizers to start which again took forever to appear (a salad and gazpacho, eventually delivered by a runner) We asked the runner if we could have some bread to go with our meal. He said sure and immediately delivered a basket of very good hot crusty bread. The salad was fine. The watermelon/cantaloupe gazpacho wasn't a winner and the crabmeat served as a garnish had some little pieces of shell in it. Icky. Our entrees finally came. My husband liked his crab cakes and my sushi was fine but nothing special. Our waiter did check on us a few times but was very slow to return and clear our plates when we were done. We asked for a doggy bag and he unceremoniously brought us a styrofoam box and let us pack our leftovers ourselves. We had to ask multiple times for the check. I did let the waiter know I didn't care for the Gazpacho w/ crab and crab shells, so he took that off the bill. All and all an underwhelming experience.
It was my wife's birthday and everyone was very nice to her and wished her a happy birthday. Our waitress, Catherine was excellent and very nice. The food was very good, The Hawaiian Mahi-Mahi was delicious. Birthday desert was good, Key lime jar.
Only complaint is the amount of wine they pour. $14 a glass and it was probably only 4 or 5 oz.
We hadn't been for a couple of years and will be returning.
