No Name Restaurant
Great service. The server was attentive and gave us feedback about where the seafood was from. We ordered the lobster to get the true New England experience and didn't regret. Right on the water with great views.
We were looking forward return to the restaurant after a few years, but sorry to say it’s not what it use to be. Fish was very dry and over cooked. The fried clams had a heavy batter and were also over cooked. The coleslaw was tasteless.
The food was great but the redtaurant was just finishing off with a large coach party which made it pretty hectic...im sure on a less busy evening it would be a different experience. Staff although busy were really attentive
Great foods service
If you want really poor quality food that’s over priced then this is the place. The food was honestly terrible. I’m unsure of why it was suggested for must try. Lobster rolls were just lobster slathered in mayo and put on bread.
Our reservation meant nothing. They still seated us based upon where we were in the rather lengthy line. They were a half-hour late in seating us.
Very basic menu served in a very basic fashion. Did not appear to follow health code as we saw multiple servers adjusting food on the plates with their bare hands.
Great experience! This harbor restaurant is a Boston institution. Simple surroundings and simple fare make this one of my favorites. My business associate and I both had the steamed lobster plate. It came with fried shrimp and scallops which are accompanied by a creamy coleslaw and French fries. I washed this all down with a local session IPA. The entire meal was delicious.
The service is also stellar. Great waitstaff bring the food, hot and fresh, to your table
I will definitely be back when in the Boston area.
We were excited to try this restaurant as it was recommended by several sources but it was really disappointing. Starting with she hostess who barked “sit wherever you want” to bland and bad food. The server was attentive but the food came out piecemeal, was overcooked (chewy-tough lobster, soggy corn on the cob, tasteless coleslaw and mediocre French fries.). With so many fantastic restaurants serving up excellent food, don’t waste your time, money or calories here. Maybe it doesn’t deserve a name....
Great atmosphere, great food friendly service. Highly reccomend for any seafood lovers.
We always make this a must - stop when in the area. The food is fresh, portions generous and staff friendly. They now accept credit cards - a recent addition, which makes this a more popular destination. Located in the fish dock area of Boston, although not easy to get to using public transportation,it is worth the trip. There is parking on site , but you need to exit within 30 minutes of paying your bill. Regular public lots, with high prices are numerous if you plan to walk the area after dinner.
Cheap bread for an relatively expensive restaurant. Wife ordered steamed lobster, she said it was good. I ordered a steak (I know they aren’t known for steaks but I’m allergic to seafood/shellfish) asked for medium. First steak was so well done it could pass as a hockey puck. Server was nice and replaced the original steak. Told them I wanted it medium rare expecting them to maybe make it medium. Second steak came back almost raw. Decided not to waste more time and just choked down a raw unseasoned steak full of silver skin.
Great seafood in a no nonsense atmosphere. This is not fine dining but great fish!!
Food and waitstaff were the highlights. Waiting an extra 30 minutes for our table in the front where every time the door opened wafting unpleasant smell made us gag and made the wait a very unsettling experience.
By far my favorite seafood restaurant in Boston. It's no frills but the freshest seafood you can get for the best price. You won't leave hungry! Make a reservation - they get busy fast and often there are large groups trying to get in!
I would not recommend the chowder. Otherwise food was good. Also, a place to get a feel for everyday Boston folk
Limited options, specials are overpriced
The food was bland and watery. I'm not sure how this place got 4 stars.
Casual atmosphere, great seafood, great waiter! We had a fun night drinking a couple of beers and enjoying great broiled seafood. Nicholas was a great waiter; engaging and fun!
A huge disappointment. Fish chowder was horrible. Pieces of cheap fish. My brother-in-laws dinner was not edible. The vegetables actually looked old. It was on the menu as sautéed shrimp but it was actually steamed. Tarter sauce was dumped on the plate and was also on the fries as well as the dry fried shrimp
Was told we needed to eat there by a coworker back home. Not disappointed, but not what we expected.
Food not that great. Vegetable side had no flavor. Hated the sweet tartar sauce
Good service but frankly disappointed in menu and quality of food. Expectation was a restaurant with great lobster and multiple ways of serving lobster.
I understand old Boston ambience but this restaurant is so old it looks dirty. The glasses given to drink out of were so cloudy/old we wouldn’t even touch them. The food was not so good, not worth going to that part of Boston for food you can get at cleaner restaurants with better ambience. There are better places to go that better represent old town Boston. NEVER AGAIN
Very close to the Seaport Hotel. Fried seafood platter was very good.
Absolutely amazing food at an amazing price. Services was quick and staff was very nice. Food came out quick as well. My fiancé and I are from out of town and loves No Name Restaurant/
Had a lovely time and our Ugandan waiter( sorry we forget his name) was delightful. Very helpful too.
Would recommend this restaurant to travellers.
We had been told by several people to eat here and it did not disappoint. fresh seafood!
The restaurant is dirty. The cocktail choices are very limited. There is no bar.
While dining, very large rats could be seen scurrying on the wharf.
The cole slaw and tartar sauce were awful.
I felt like I needed a shower after leaving the restaurant.
I would never go back!!
Food was bland. Hostess was rude. Server was prompt but failed to refill water glasses. Restaurant was dirty. Restroom was fair. Unimpressed.
Found No Name Resturant on the internet and decided to give it a try. When we arrived we were seated immediately. The waiter came over and took our drink orders. When he returned with the drinks he took our order. Food was served quickly, freshest seafood we ever had. Huge portions for the price. Highly recommend and next time we are in Boston we will return.
It’s been 15 years since we last visited No Name Restaurant and we found the seafood to be extremely fresh and well prepared - just like the that prior visit. We will happily trade the diner like atmosphere for the best seafood around! Hope it’s not another 15 years before we return.
Friendly staff; not much variety in menu.
Low prices for very good seafood. Great wharf side location.
As wonderful as I remember it from 46 years ago! The seafood chowder is gluten-free, which made me very happy.
It was not worth the money. Too noisy, food without any spices or flavor.
The fried clams were mushy. Not a good experience. Expected great seafood.
Good size portions. The food was very good. Service was good. Server was very friendly. My wife got the broiler seafood platter and I got the sautéed lobster special. I probably should have gotten an actual lobster but it was good. Boston cream pie was extremely good.
Food was decent, rather plain nothing special about it.
Disappointing. Service not attentive, food not well prepared.
