no. 246 Ratings and Reviews
Not a great place for your typical brunch especially if One has food allergies. They only offer one salad for a dairy free choice minus the cheese and creamy dressing. No non- dairy creamer for coffee. They said they haven’t chosen the right vendor for their dairy-free creamers. Go to publix and buy almond milk. You just lost 2 customers for the price of using publix as your vendor. I’m not writing againsy going to this restaurant. Just make sure you only choose this restaurant if all of your friends have no food allergies.
Overall food was okay. We tried the meatball (only thing we loved), the fried risotto, the steak, and the chicken Marsala. We found everything to be too salty. The steak portions were far too small for what we paid. There were too many flavors going on with all the cheese and herbs and oil and salt added on top of the food. And even the dessert we were dissapointed with. The chocolate cake was dry. Good service, and good atmosphere, but we found the food to be dossapointing for $140.
Service was exceptional! We tried four different dishes including pizza, chicken & biscuits, monte christo sandwich and the squid ink pasta and shrimp. Everything was delicious but the squid ink pasta and shrimp was my fav! Would order any one of them again!
246 is a neighborhood treasure. Some friends and I were there one night recently when all of downtown Decatur started having water problems. The manager apologized profusely (even though it wasn’t anybody’s fault!), bought our drinks and promised to give us a treat the next time we dined there. I forgot all about it, but weeks later I went back, and the waiter brought us a free appetizer! Great food, perfect service, great neighbors.
This was our second time eating here and the food was just as amazing as the first time we came. The Black spaghetti and Hangar steak were a bit on the spicy side but we enjoy that type of flavor so that made it even better! Definitely going to come back a third time.
Enjoyed the food but the place was very dark. I think it is a problem when you cannot read the menu. We asked the staff if the lights could be turned up a bit but to no avail. I do not care for the fact that we had to use our phones to read the menu and could not see our food. It was also very noisy.
Pleasant ambiance that made for an enjoyable meal. Very kind and helpful server that accommodated all the groups requests. Great appetizers that were easy to share with a large group. Handmade pasta was delightful and the entrees somehow tasted better than they looked. I love all of Ford Fry's restaurants and this is no exception.
Friends of ours recommended No. 246 as they had just enjoyed your restaurant during a date weekend in the city. Turns out we were doing a date weekend in downtown Atlanta. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, meal and wait staff. We sat on the back deck area which we would highly recommend. The food was excellent. Service of the main course was a little slow but not so much as to take away anything from our overall experience. We will definitely return and also recommend No. 246 to others. Well done.
We have dined here before and it was delightful. This last visit there were some service misses and the food was pretty terrible with the exception of the spaghetti meatballs which was probably prepped during the day by different staff. The cacio y Pepe was so overly buttered and in fact parmiggiano Reggiano was called Parmesan on the menu. Which is not Italian and if that's what the restaurant uses ford fry should be ashamed. The pizza was doughy and chewy and flavorless and the bolognese was spicy! My youngest ordered chicken tenders that tasted like fryer grease. We were very disappointed. We got two dishes free. Seems like the chef needs a check in
I love going to 246 and will continue to go. Its a fantastic retaurant... most of the time. However, this particular visit was not good. I get the same dish every time and love it. This time, though, it was way overly spicy -- too much black pepper and red pepper -- and was barely edible. The service was also bad -- last 2 visits the service has been bad. I waited 15 minutes to get my credit card run and returned. Waiter delivered the food and disappeared for 30 minutes. And with the food so spicy -- was tough to eat without water, or beer, or wine. Wasn't like the restaurant was packed full or anything either.
Love the atmosphere here and the food was very good. There are options for the conservative diner as well as the adventurous. In particular the spaghetti & meatballs are outstanding and the Boca Negra is a must try for desert. The service was subpar for an establishment of this caliber. While our server was friendly she was not very attentive.
