NM Cafe at Neiman Marcus Topanga
Excellent service, food and ambiance. From the time you are seated and a small cup of chicken broth is placed in front of you, to the delicious popovers with strawberry butter, to your food order and finally the bill, we always feel like this is the epitome of a wonderful lunch room.
Make sure to thoroughly read the dineLA menu. It's deceiving.
Led to believe lunch = 3 courses for $25.
You're only getting 2 = not worth it.
We were seated the second customer of the day for lunch so they can't use being busy or understaffed as an excuse.
We wait for 10 minutes to see anyone and they just pop over and casually ask if we know what we would like. We haven't even had drink orders yet, but we obliged and gave both drink and food orders.
I ordered the chicken pot pie and my wife ordered a mixed green salad. A few minutes later, chicken broth came out which was delicious. A few minutes later our tea came out. Then 15 minutes later our food. We didn't see him even walking around the dining room during this time. Instead I hear a woman waitress scolding and swearing from the back at what I assume was someone trying to take her table from her; Nonetheless not a good thing to put on public display at Neimans.
After our food was delivered the waiter asked if we got popovers and we said no, he looked puzzled and then they came by with a basket (after entree arrived).
I took a bite of the pot pie and it was cold. Not warm, cold. The waiter disappeared again so I waited until I saw him and told him I didn't want that. I wanted something quick since my wife was almost done with her salad so I ordered a caprese salad.
20 minutes go by before I see the salad. No real apology about the cold pot pie and no sense of urgency on the mess up. For $80 lunch without drinks for two people it's a complete waste of time. No management, no customer service and certainly no quality control
Popped in for lunch while shopping a Neiman Marcus. Was extremely underwhelmed with the overall experience. Worst "chopped" salad I've ever had in my life, wasn't chopped at all. Much prefer Barney's or if in NY Bergdorf Goodman's restaurants. This location needs an update on food, service and decor front.
Enjoyed a post holiday lunch after a day of shopping.
Our meal was delicious. Champagne is really overpriced! Our server was unfriendly.
Excellent lunch service for moms with strollers. Thanks
Delicious food and excellent quality! It is so clean inside. The host did his best to accommodate my friend who had a stroller so she would be extra comfortable with the baby. That’s a 10+. We love returning to NM Cafe!!! We loved our waitress! She was so friendly! Definetly we will return!!!
Their popovers never disappoint and they have a good variety of food options from both the adult and kids menus. The warm chocolate chip cookies at the end of the meal are always good!
Miss Ella was (is) the best!!! I light up whenever I see her. Everyone is great too! But she makes my day! And of course the food :-)
Excellent for its traditional popovers, chicken soup and cheese pastry which are impossible to find elsewhere, excellent coffee, nice cookies and delicious and varied dishes on the menu, elegant, friendly and attentive service and our waitress, Ella, was unusually magnificent.
Friend’s birthday. We always enjoyed NM Cafe when working in Woodland Hills. We both moved from the area but chose NM to meet to celebrate her birthday and reminisce 💕
Great birthday lunch for my mom's 93rd. Loved the flower arrangement brought to the table. Had a very good time. Mom was happy, too.
For how this place presents itself and the prices, very disappointsed. Sauces tasted like they came iut of a can. Chicken salad looked and tasted like it was made in a blender. No chunks of chicken. For that price I expect it to be hand cut and tossed.
Food was great. They honored our reservation and special requests. Service was great.
Only negative thing this time was the sloppy, almost absent receptionist: the place opens at 11 and at 11:20 I arrived, said I had a reservation and knew I was early and the man behind the desk ignored me, then moved to the bar where he talked to his friends; another man, behind the bar, an employee, finally noticed me, came to the front desk and seated me.
Food as usual excellent, kudos to popovers, cheese pastry and chicken soup, salads, cookie box, waiter excellent.
Always great! Popovers are the absolute best part of the meal!
excellent customer service!
our waiter Mark was exceptional, the food was very good.
The service was excellent. I had the salmon salad and my husband had the hamburger. We enjoyed both. Had no room for dessert but will definitely be back to try the other food options and Dessert!!!
I love the service? The food and the atmosphere ‘. We had a great lunch! Everything on the menu is amazing. I had the Mandarin orange chicken salad! Yum!!!’
Once a month tradition for lunch. Popovers are a treat. And today was a birthday celebration!!
WE had an excellent lunch - Neiman Marcus Cafe never disappoints! The only constructive comment that I would offer would be that the service seemed a bit slow on the day we were there...nothing to really complain about but something I noted. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very pleasant.
The meal always starts with a tiny teacup of chicken consommé and a biscuit. Then the fresh popovers with strawberry butter. Wonderful for a ladies lunch, tea or bridal, baby shower.
Always a family Sunday fave! My kids live their pop overs and broth...
The Staff was very attentive. We loved our lunch.
Our server was Lala - Service was exceptional! Food is always perfect! Love the popovers!!
The food was excellent. Complimentary popover and cup of broth were a very nice touch. Service was erratic, perhaps the server had too many tables to handle at one time. Bussing was non-existent; used plates were left for too too long before clearing. It was lunchtime and the sound level made it hard to have a conversation. Overall, a good place to go to, even if you're not in the mall to shop.
The DineLA Week 2018 menu and dining experience was great. Service was top notch as always. The broth and biscuit starter is always a nice touch as is the AMAZING puffed bread/Yorkshire pudding hybrid they start the meal with. I had the crab cheese dip which was actually quite crab-forward and the wantons were perfectly fried. The steak frites looked a bit dry at first, but was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and had a nice crust on the meat and just enough juice to sop up. The fries were cheesey, truffley and great.
Not as elegant as some of the other NM restaurants, but with all the classic fare. All about the popovers and strawberry butter!
I love this restaurant but this visit, my first in close to a year, was not an enjoyable experience. The server seemed harried and as if she didn’t care if people were being wll taken care of. We sat with used dishes from the broth and popovers courses throughout the meal. They forgot to brown the cheese on my burger, and forgot items on my dining partners plate. We were not offered dessert. The waitress handed us our check to us through the neighboring diners table which was rude and awkward. The chocolate mints that come at the end of the meal are no more. Hopefully this was a one off experience.
Delicious food.. Excellent service. Popovers and strawberry butter.
Great place to relax and splurge on a intimate and fantastic lunch with friends.
We went there for lunch date and it was perfect.
Love NM Cafe for lunch. There is an outside area with running water in a fountain that provides great atmosphere. Service was attentive and the restaurant is quiet. Menu offers very healthy choices prepared well. This is one of my go to spots to meet people for lunch.
Very Elegant and delicious. Service was great. Fresh baked popover is worth the drive from anywhere.
Elegant lunch dining, excellent and courteous service, delicious automatically served chicken soup with cheese pastry and an inimitable popover -alone making the lunch worthwhile -and good food, unusual and filling appetizers. The tortilla soup is wonderful; the spinach and artichoke dip ditto. Beautiful presentation. Fine coffee. The cookies make a most generous dessert -usually too many to finish in one sitting and the recipe for the NM Chocolate Chip Cookies makes this "the gift that keeps on giving."
Everything great except for noise level. Need some sound absorbers. Not a good place for intimate conversations.
Wonderful food with excellent service
