The service was great—we had as many popovers as we could eat, our water was always filled, coffee was brought out and filled. Eating at Neiman’s on Black Friday is a tradition, but it was disappointing to see such a small menu from previous years and how much the prices have gone up. It would be great if more salads and sandwiches could be added to the menu and fewer cocktails. Just my opinion….
The restaurant appeared to be understaffed. Since we had to wait such a long time for our entrees to come out of the kitchen, I didn't have time to eat more than half of mine, despite my allowing 1 1/2 hours for lunch. I was especially disappointed in the lighting design after the remodeling of the restaurant. In all of the booths against the wall, a diner cannot avoid sitting under the bright, halogen light. It's uncomfortable to sit under a spotlight, and it casts unattractive dark shadows on the person's face.
We had a reservation and it was a party of 2. A 20 percent gratuity was added but it was not on the menu and we were not told it was on there. I usually leave at least 20 percent but I have never had gratuity added for a party of 2.
This is a different restaurant. They still serve the popovers but VERY limited menu and very pricey. $30 for a bowl of buttered pasta for my kid.
While we did mourn the absence of the old menu, all the new dishes we sampled were excellent as was the service.
Very limited menu, environment seemed dark and less festive than in the past. It was a very expensive lunch for 2 but didn’t feel special as I had hoped for a birthday. Disappointed-
We were very disappointed with our dining experience. We have been coming to the Cafe for many years and always looked forward to the delicious offerings. We read online that the menu had changed and were looking forward to trying it.
We arrived at 11:30 a.m. and left at 1 p.m. and there were only two other individuals in the restaurant. I think that should tell you something. When it isn't broken, don't fix it. There is a certain expectation that comes with the name and we did not feel that you lived up to it. I realize that everything has changed due to COVID, but the price for this lunch was way out of line.
We are so sad that NM has changed the menu at the Cafe. There were only three tables in the dining room while we dined. Obviously, NM has made a huge mistake having a set menu! The Mermaid Bar will now be swamped with customers!! Please go back to the long time favorite menu at the NM Cafe which always had a backed house.
What a lovely lunch! The bao buns were especially wonderful. The service was attentive. It’s a real treat to take a break here.
The food was wonderful. Enjoyed a leisurely lunch with great service.
We both enjoyed our lunches very much! We can highly recommend the salmon and also the delicious home made linguine.
Lovely luncheon experience. Will return very soon.
Very nice quiet room on the third floor of Neimans . Cannot compare to the Zodiac room in terms of food or atmosphere.
The prefixes menu was nice but totally out of season and way too heavy for lunch. Spaghetti and metatballs, steak or salmon in June?
Regardless we had a nice birthday luncheon.
The food downstairs is more appealing but not nearly as special as upstairs.
Ugh. I am sad to write this. My mom and I always loved going to NM Cafe pre-pandemic.
I wasn't quite sure about the Price Fixe menu when I saw the NM Cafe had reopened after a post-pandemic remodel, but I am a believer NOW!
The remodel is lovely in soft grey hues with a lot of new furniture, cutlery and glassware that was transferred in from the now defunct Hudson Yards Neiman's in New York. It's got a great city chic vibe, and the beautiful purple orchids in the vase on our reserved table with our name plate was a nice touch.
The service was wonderful - Kaati provided thoughtful and attentive care of us - we will definitely ask for her again on our next visit - and it's always nice to see Ms. Susan making sure all is well and everyone is happy!
We began our meal as everyone should with a famous popover with strawberry butter. Delicious! My dining companion selected wild field greens with feta and tomato as her starter, while I had the vegan Mushroom chowder. It was so good I wanted to lick the bowl to get every last drop, but alas this IS Neiman's after all so I resisted the urge! HAHA!
Our mains were salmon cooked to perfection with fingerling potatoes and a miso paste and fennel which was delicious! I could eat that once a week and not grow tired of it!
Dessert was butterscotch churros that were so light and crunchy and just the right amount of sugar sprinkled on top.
Neiman's has THE BEST Dammann Freres Iced tea which is perfect for hot summer day meals.
All in all it was a fabulous experience and we will definitely be back!
If you haven't had the opportunity to try the restaurant since they've reopened, WHAT are you waiting for??? ; )
I have been to tea all over the world and would rate this the poorest experience ever. The teas were fine but only 5 to choose from and the only herbal/decaf was sleepy time tea...The plate was meager. Very limited choices and none were very good. The sandwiches were dry and tiny, the scones were ok but only one each and the mini popovers were good but also tiny. There were one macaroon and one chocolate each. For $45 this was ridiculous. This will not go over well if they do not improve the food quality and the portion size. We would never do this again much less recommend it to anyone. The only shining part was the waitress and hostess. The were both lovely.
Glad NM is back! Great service! Quiet and relaxing. Nice tea service!
Best vegan option by request afternoon tea. Chef Matt did not disappoint.. team members was great.
Will definitely come back
Very enjoyable. The service was so very much better than in the past.
It is a delight to have the new chief.
The service was top notch! The waitress and helpers were so nice and fantastic. The food was pricey and portions were small but well presented. The food was so salty which made the food experience not as good as I had expected. The chef might have had an off day but we will be try again for sure. However, we did have a good time and we will dine again just because the servers were wonderful and great.
Prix Fixe menu is outstanding - changes regularly, but very creative and superb quality. Service is great - friendly and polished. Very nice place for a special occasion lunch. Reasonably priced wines by the glass to compliment things.
Service was very attentive. Food amazing. Seating was comfortably distanced. The prix fixe menu gives a wide range of selections.
The Prix fixe menu is all that is available. The food is not the correct temperature. Trying to be fancy but missing on execution. Dessert was stale. Service was helpful but inexperienced.
Going away luncheon
We love Chef Matt and his creativity! Love the changes!
The food was outstanding, service excellent with a lovely atmosphere.
I would return for a special occasion.
The tea was fine, albeit a limited selection.
But the savories were very average.
Tea was served without milk/sugar, unless you asked for it.
It was nice but for the price? Not so much.
Our welcome was exquisite we made reservations for 2:30 but were early in eager anticipation of getting back to normal. The hostess put us in the perfect spot and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of a lovely lunch. Lunch was brilliant. The set menu is perfect with enough variety for choices. Our server Kaadi (I may not have spelled this right) was brilliant, engaging, and very helpful. We had the best lunch. It was so wonderful all the way around.
Enjoyed a birthday lunch at Neimans Northpark. Fixed price menu was excellent. Will definitely return.
Extremely disappointing! Was a long time diner at NM cafe particularly for special occasions, but will not go back. Took over an hour to get food when there were only 3 items on the menu. This can't be that hard.
I love the Neiman Marcus restaurant venues but the Northpark Cafe was not worth the trip. Will not make this mistake again.
The food was not that good and there were few options being a price fixed menu . No larger salad for lunch was offered. It took my waitress 3 times to fix my latte because the milk was not fresh even though the container said it was not old. Once she opened a new milk container the latte tasted fine. At least I got a bead pop over !
The service and meal was delightful. I will return when having lunch for a quiet conversation.
Delicious Food and Amazing Service! Our waitress was excellent !
This is one of my favorite Dallas restaurants for lunch. I can always count on the food. The service is spectacular.
I was extremely in the decrease in the portion size of the Andean Dream Quinoa Spaghetti! The value is not good now. Please consider serving the original portion size of this great meal.
Over the years, the Neiman Marcus Northpark NM Cafe is consistently excellent and always such a wonderful experience. From the warm welcome from Susan at the front desk, to each of the waitstaff who recall your name and treat you like special guests, to the old favorites plus the new delicious items on the refreshed menu, we enjoy every visit. We decided to celebrate our Anniversary this year with lunch at the NM Cafe and enjoyed every minute and every bite. Excellent as always!!!!
My pear salad was all greens and very little fruit, $17. At Nordstroms Bazile Cafe for that price I have a crab and avocado salad that is divine. Your crabmeat salad is about $25 and not as good.
Healthy choices, nicely presented, service was lovely and all smiles. A lovely break during shopping. Would do it again!
