The food was ok.
Came to restaurant at time reserved. Waited at door with party of four for five minutes. During this time, nobody greeted us or approached us. I asked a bartender for help and was advised to find a table and sit down. We left and found another place to eat.
We had a confirmed reservation at Nixon and they would not honor it. The manager indicated that they weren't on the Open Table platform and that the reservation should have never been made. We ended up sitting at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and the food was good. However, the attitude of the management was awful. Even when shown the email confirmation they just denied it. They didn't offer any accommodation on price or a free drink or anything. The attitude and treatment was horrible. I will never go there again, will give the place bad reviews and our entire group was frankly shocked at the incredibly poor treatment by the management.
Didn't have the reservation, had to call, couldn't reach anyone. Once there the food wasn't ready, they apologized, we waited, still no food, we left so we didn't miss our concert at Staples Center, with no dinner. We had set aside two hours so this tells you how long we were there waiting for food.
They accepted our reservations with confirmations and everything. But when we got there, they said we can not accommodate you since we have a private event going on. Whole night was ruined.
I rarely write reviews on Open Table, but this experience was so bad I feel that I need to warn others. Basically, Nixon is just a bar, with a seating area where food is served. When we arrived, there was no greeter or anybody else to acknowledge our reservation. In short, the fact that they take reservations is a complete sham. Anyhow, we then found a table and seated ourselves. MORE THAN 30 MINUTES LATER, I was able (with vigorous arm motions) to flag down the harried waitress (who was tasked with handling the entire dining area by herself) so we could place our order. After another long delay, featuring several apologies from the waitress, our food finally showed up, with the wrong items. (I ordered a burger, but got a pizza.) My overall impression was that this place was very poorly managed.
We walked up to a busy bar/patio which looked promising and nice. There wasn't a hostess stand, so I grab a server and asked about my reservation. He said that he had to look for the manager - who never showed up. While waiting for the manager, I was checking for other restaurants availability and realized that I couldn't cancel my reservation since it was already during our reservation time. The server was running around and apologized that he couldn't get the manager. He managed to find a table for us but it was obvious that they were overwhelmed and did not have the manpower to serve all their guests. We sat and waited and with no one in sight that was going to serve us, we got up and left. It was as if we were never there but now we had nowhere to eat because I couldn't make another reservation on OpenTable on this crazy busy night at LA Live.
