Niu Japanese Fusion Lounge
One of the reasons that people keep coming back to Niu is of course of the eclectic food and drink selections. Our inventive menu blends Sushi, Japanese, Thai, Korean, and Chinese influences: little bites of modern Tokyo, Bangkok, and Shanghai, all blended in with the energy of Chicago. The menu offers a variety of sushi basics, but the real enticements are the one-of-a-kind "fusion makis" with such names as "Sexy Mexican," "White Angel," and "Diablo". For those sushiphobes, there is a fantastic selection of vegetarian, stir-fry and soup creations.
Went with business colleagues. Good food. Great service. I’d eat there again.
It was a lovely dinner and evening. The only reason for the low marks on service and ambiance was that we were never asked if we wanted another cocktail and it is very dark. A bit more lighting would make it a bit more enjoyable instead of having to use an iPhone flashlight.
We would recommend and return for the delicious cuisine!
Niu is an amazing Fusion spot. We celebrated my birthday here and the relaxed minimal decor and ambiance reflected the thoughtful elegant atmosphere. We had the Lobster soup, crispy calamari, seaweed salad, and several maki rolls, all were excellent. Great value and superb attention to detail as well.
Amazing food! We will be back when we visit again!
It's a very nice place. Great selection. Nothing we tried was 'outstanding' but nothing disappointed either. Would definitely go back. It's a "Can't go wrong" place with a great setting and environment.
Niu is always a great meal! They have wonderful happy hour specials too. Love the lychee Martini's! Always very accommodating. Thanks!
Ate at Niu twice in the past few days while in Chicago. Good food. Slow service. Server on second visit was not a bit friendly or even pleasant. I'll come back for the food and cocktails, but hospitality can be taught.
Great place, nice atmosphere, sushi is outstanding!
Couldn’t be happier with our entire dining experience
I was disappointed. I have a higher expectations for a Asian fusion restaurant in Chicago. Calamari was average. Rice noodles were good.
The interior is a bit on the dark side. If it’s nice outside, you might opt to sit outside.
Quiet enough for a business meeting. Attentive but unobtrusive service. Excellent food.
I have never enjoyed sushi before but am now a fan. The godzilla roll was amazing! They do not have a kid's menu which was the only negative but were able to accommodate my picky eater with chicken tenders.
Server was good, food was good and all around great
Service Neutral bis uninteressiert. Junges bis jüngeres Publikum. Fisch frisch, aus einer Scheibe Sashimi besser zwei machen. Wie überall zuuu laut. Falsche Telefonnummer auf der Bestätigung
It’s just a solid place to eat. Beautiful decor, very peaceful atmosphere, great drinks, affordable but delicious food, and wonderful service. Will definitely be returning!
We love this restaurant. The servings are ample, fresh, and healthy. The specialty cocktails unique and tasty. We will be back
Arrived just for the end of happy hour...great deals! Had a sweet 16 birthday party of 7, great attentive service for dinner, delish sushi, and a great overall experience. Maki rolls were plated individually, which was different and a little crowded on the table but it worked. Nice ambiance and great location, 10 min walk to Navy Pier. Will definitely return for an adult happy hour soon!
Most of our food was very good (red chicken curry was blah). Server was impersonal and did the absolute bare minimum to meet our needs (by contrast, the busser refilling our water was warm, welcoming, and quick to smile). In a city this large, there is no reason to return to a place that lacks in hospitality and deliciousness.
Service was good and food was fine but not worth the 4.5 stars the restaurant averages online. I’ve definitely had better seafood/sushi.
It starts at the door. When you walk into a restaurant you decide how the entire experience will be in less than 2 minutes. I was greeted immediately and sincerely, seated promptly, food server was awesome and friendly and genuine, the food was out of this world! The prices are unbelievably reasonable. I'll be back and I recommend them.
The food here was delicious with generous portions. The atmosphere is tranquil and inviting. Highly recommended if you enjoy Japanese cuisine.
We chose Niu b/c it was conveniently located within proximity to our hotel. The server was nice and generally attentive. I ordered the asparagus tofu wok entree - it was good, but didn't feel like anything particularly special. My husband ordered sushi and was pleased. We also had a couple cocktails that were well made, including The Wise Man, which was our favorite.
Best General Tsao's I've ever had, and the sushi was good as well! Waiter was not pushy and didn't bother us much. Atmosphere was nice, with moderate noise, and the prices were pretty decent for Chicago. Will definitely be back!
It was Sat around 6:30 and they were very busy.
The waitress had a lot of tables.
Have eaten here a few times over the years. Always good food, good service and a nice evening out in Chicago.
We were staying at the Loews hotel, and it was in walking distance. The food was so delicious that we ordered takeout two nights later.
Great food; servers switched at beginning (still unclear why) but second server was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable!
The sushi and sashimi is delicious! I was delighted with our meal. The menu is huge and can be a little overwhelming, especially when you are hungry, but our server was happy to make recommendations. I would definitely go again.
took a party of five, three were new to NIU,all said they would return.outstanding
Fantastic sushi right in downtown Chicago with a lovely ambiance, recommend for all sushi lovers!
This was my first time at Niu. I had the edamame appetizer and honey sesame chicken with brown rice. I enjoyed both meals. I will be back another time. Our server and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
Food is great. Service staff was excellent. Value is great. Host staff could smile more. Great place to get amazing food at a reasonable price. Good sizes meals.
The food was excellent, the ambiance chill, and the service good. I was thrilled to see that it was just steps away from where we were staying downtown. Definitely would go here again.
Great service! Try the sexy mexican roll. They have happy hour and delicious martinis.
Good food. Great price. Great location. Easily accessible from parking deck.
The sushi was good however, the spring rolls were just rolled up ice berg lettuce in rich paper expected more for the price. Don't waste your money on appetizers.
Really great food and drinks. Had maybe the best old fashion I’ve ever had here. Our group of four had a widely varyied sampling of sushi and sashimi and all of it fresh and delicious. Seating was tight but wait staff managed it. Great location a block walk from the Sheraton Grand. Highly recommend.
First time sushi experience was excellent. Customer service was incredible. Thank you.
Got the beef yakisoba and dragon roll. The beef was cooked really well but the dish itself was rather bland and unseasoned. Dragon was alright but the tempura shrimp inside wasn’t hot so not cooked to order. Ambience was great though and looked fantastic.
