The starters were bad with too much sauce and were a rip off of orange chicken type texture.
I resent being surveyed every time I do something. Makes me stop going out, shopping and any activity that might cause a survey to enter my inbox, voicemail or texts.
It’s a good place that has all the foods of a sushi restaurant. Definitely try it...
We enjoyed our sushi, Mongolian beef, fried rice and seaweed salad. Our server was great. We sat outside and it was a lovely evening.
The service was excellent and I was happy with the selection of options from food to drinks. I had never seen a lychee mimosa on a menu before! I'd go back again for sure.
Best sushi I've ever had- and I've had a lot! Very affordable as well
Excellent service and excellent sushi. I always stop into this place when visiting Chicago.
My fiance and I went there for a bite to eat and it was not worth the 30 dollar bill. My ramen was average at best. The add ins had an off flavor, the broth tasted like it was missing something and my noodles were stuck together and hard. Our servers didn't check on us until our food was mostly done. The only person who really was attentive the person refilling waters. I'm going to stick with my santouka ramen from now on.
Love Niu B!! Go as often as I can. Great sushi and doesn’t break the bank. Go for great lunch specials. Great service.
great, but wish the restaurant offered happy hour specials for cocktails.
There were 7 of us. The reservation at Niu B Dushi on Michigan Ave was for six people and our son joined us midway thru our dinner. Our server was so accomodating! No one in our party had been there before. Everyone at our table loved the food. And, everyone who ordered cocktails said the cocktails were great, as well. My husband had the Mongolian beef, our son and our daughter’s friends had a combo plate of sashimi and some type of maki rolls. Our daughter had the Mango Tango roll and her husband had a chicken dish and I had the Crunchy roll. Our daughter had the lychee martini. Portions are generous for the prices. A good value. Good variety. Delicious!
Very relaxing atmosphere and nice clean tables and dishes, Would definitely recommend
This is very close to the Hilton on S. Michigan Ave. I wasn't sure what to expect but i was impressed. Someone in our party ordered the vegetarian Ramen and it was delicious. The only draw back would be the place was a bit busy so we had to wait to get utensils for our food. Our water wasn't refilled until we flagged someone down.
The decor was good and the place was clean.
A very good and reliable place for high quality sushi.
This is a small gem in Chitown for sushi and Japanese food. The beverages are good although they did not have a sampler of cold and warm sake that would make people try it more. Thanks to the waitress and all the staff. Apologies I don’t remember their names.
Overall, my experience at Niu B was positive. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken and it was delicious. It was a busy lunch hour and they only had one or two servers working. I felt bad for our waitress as she was trying to manage all the orders and bring dishes out to the table. However, by the time I received my dish, everyone else in my party of 6 had finished theirs. Mine had been sitting at the other end of the cook line for quite some time. Despite this oversight, I will still go back if in the area.
Service and the food was amazing. Perfect place for after work, with some co-workers and friends.
Always amazing! Food, service and atmosphere. It’s my favorite lunch spot!
This was our second visit and as before the food was outstanding. Wonderful ramen (we got the happy hour $8 value) and maki. Also as before our server was mediocre although the bussers and front staff were great.
Es un buen lugar. Sin grandes exquisiteces pero puedes comer un buen sushi. La atención también normal.
The food was delicious but our waitress was rude and insisted on charging us for a sushi that we ordered but she never brought to us. She kept saying that the sushi was ready and that she could no longer cancel it even though we were already finished eating. Any time she came over to our table, she get our attention by interrupting our conversation in a very rude manner even though we were already paying attention to her. We ordered a sake tasting flight and she basically threw the glasses on the table and then didn’t tell us which sake was which and then got mad that we didn’t know which was the one we liked.
Overall the food was really good, but I don’t know if I would come back to dine in.
This south loop neighborhood restaurant is an intimate and cute place for dinner with friends. Services is great and food is wonderful.
Was surprised by the quality of the food, the preparation, and the flavor at this price point. A regular stop when I'm on this side of downtown.
Love this place. Tried 90 percent of the menu and almost everything is always tasty. Best mushroom hot and sour soup around. Great rolls and Ramen. I keep trying new places but always circle back here.
The service was outstanding as usual! The sushi tasted a bit different this time.
Exceptional fresh food presented in a creative way. Very nice staff and excellent service, I would highly recommend as one of the best Japanese restaurants I have experienced in Chicago
We were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the space was and how good the food turned out to be! We went for restaurant week and we were not disappointed.
My friend and I loved everything we ordered from the world
Wild mushroom ramen to the soft shelled crab maki, the agadashi tofu, poke salad and nigiri plate. We will be back. Note that the bussing service was excellent; our waitress was mediocre.
Great food. Was very pleased with the food and drink options. Sushi was very good also.
Great food and ambiance. The amount of food for the value was excellent.
My friend picked me up from work for an early dinner. I mentioned I was in the mood for Sushi and he mentioned wanting to try Niu B Sushi & Robata. He's typically very good about picking restaurants so I did not bother to check out the menu prior to going.
In general the food was disappointing:
1. I don't understand the entire cream cheese and Sushi combination; If I want cream cheese on my fish I'll order bagels, lox and cream cheese.
2. This was not a Sushi Restaurant. It was something you would expect to find in the suburbs that serviced Sushi, Chinese, Thai, etc.
3. The sautéed spring beans where awesome; other than that everything I ate was over sauces so I could not taste the fish.
4. Specialty cocktails were great.
In closing, not my type of restaurant, or food preparation. That said, it gets good ratings so other people like it. However, if you are a Sushi fan, find someplace else to spend your money.
got better ratings from us in past. service still good and sushi is mostly successful, but a noodle dish with a heavy sauce fell flat. the onions in it were good , but due to sauce dark brown color of the sauce, could not find the similar-sized pork, which was a bit chewy and fatty.
good drinks and sake helped. great location across from Grant Park. Is the location of the former Oysy, which is elsewhere now, and hopefully still good enough to find again; the crowds they used to see are gone.
Surprisingly good with such cheap prices. Services were good too. A very worthy place to spend money on a trip. Keep it up!
Fresh food in a friendly, upbeat place! Nice variety on the menu and attentive servers!
First off, upon checking in, we requested to be seated outside and they gave us a nice outdoor table. The food was great but the service left a little to be desired. The waitstaff seemed harried although there was hardly anyone there upon arrival. It did start to fill up, which was encouraging. As I said, the food was great. Upon returning to our hotel room, we received an email claiming that we had missed our reservation with a reminder of the cancellation policy. They asked us to kindly cancel, if we didn’t plan to show up! We don’t make it a habit to “no show” and found it insulting to be accused as such. Open Table to their credit, apologized & stated that they would speak to the restaurant. We’d like to try this establishment again whenever we’re back in Chicago because the food was good & everyone is entitled to a bad day. Overall, this place is okay!
Lovely restaurant and generous portion size Extensive ment
Rolls were a bit overwhelming. Too much sauce overwhelmed fish and other ingredients.
We were visiting Chicago and found Niu B Sushi on Opentable. The reviews were bang on, very good food on Michigan avenue that wasn't expensive. We were staying in the Hilton Chicago which was only a short walk from the restaurant. It was busy but we didn't have to wait long for our food. The server was quite attentive. We has nigiri and rolls. All were tasty.
Close to the Hilton Hotel, so it was convenient for convention attendees. There were six of us, and we all had something different. There were gluten-free and vegetarian options, and the prices were reasonable. The service was good. The Open Table app made the reservation process easy- even from my seat in a plenary session!
