Nisen Sushi - Commack Ratings and Reviews
Reservations for 630pm. After receiving our menu we didn't see our waiter for about 25minutes when he took our drink order. We then placed our app order when he brought our drinks and didn't see him again for approximately 30minutes. We then placed our dinner order and waited over an 1hr for our dinner. When our dinner finally came he apologized for the delay and we didn't see him till we where done 45minutes later. We placed our dessert order which surprising came out fast but then proceeded to wait 30minutes for our check. Needless to say this didn't not make tonight a special night for my wife or myself especially finally leaving there at 9:45pm to head home since dinner made us miss other planned plans for the evening.
As always another great night at nisen. The only sushi restaurant that didn't lose their touch. Fish is always fresh. Service is awesome. And they are very accommodating. I have yet to have a bad experience here, or complaint and that's the reason I keep coming back. Thank you!
We had requested a quiet table and we're very pleased with the accommodations as there is a part of the restaurant that is adjacent to the bar can be very noisy; we were far from that part of the restaurant. The food is always excellent ,very fresh and well prepared. The service was excellent and attentive. We have been here many times with various sets of friends and have never disappointed -------can't wait to go back!
Food has been consistently outstanding and very good.
Drinks were better than prior time.
Service has been lacking. Too many people serving at once lately. No one knows what they are bringing to who and when. Very disorganized and spacey. Don't even get everything ordered.
Way too loud lately. Server couldn't even hear me to place my order.
Elsie ruined an otherwise nice meal. She was relentlessly harassing & even insulted a member of our party. She brought the wrong dish, left out items from 2 others & included things we didn't want in them. It was like she didn't even listen to our order. On top of this, she kept pressuring us to order quickly, over and over because "the kitchen will get backed up & the food would take longer to come out". We told her we'd like a leisurely meal & had no problem with waiting for some dishes. We were there to enjoy ourselves, not to be rushed out by her! She also pressed us to order something that, you guessed it, we didn't like. Good food but all-in-all, a very unpleasant meal.
We came there for Huntington Restaurant week, as they advertised on Website. When we were seated the restaurant was empty and we were offered only regular menu. After we asked for a Restaurant Week menu they started treating us as 2nd class customers. We had to wait 1 full hour for our main course to arrive and nobody even came to apologize. Only after we asked for a manager we finally were given our meal. The manager never arrived but the waitress asked " if we were OK" passing by. The food was just average but the service was horrible. Customers who ordered from regular menu were taken care of right away.
Why advertise something that you do not want to sell?
We really enjoyed the food, but the waitress couldn't wait to serve us and take our plates. She wanted to bring the main course just as she put down the appetizers (both mine and my dining partners appetizers came at different times- would have been more pleasant if we were both served at same time). As I was eating my main course, she came by and asked if she could wrap up any leftovers. I actually had the chopsticks at my mouth as she asked. Would have preferred to eat my food and then be asked to wrap up the food. There were at least 5 other tables in the dining room, so we were not delaying the staff. will probably give it another try, but would prefer not to be rushed when spending over $100 for 2 people for dinner.
We thought the sushi was pretty good. But we had a very negative experience with the service. Not sure if it was a new server or not, but it was rough. We placed a drink and appetizer order within minutes of sitting down, but we were well through eating our appetizer before the server returned (20-30 minutes waiting). She apologized for the sushi chefs taking so long, even though we still had our menus in front of us. We said we needed to place our order and she took it, but then it was another 30 minutes before the sushi arrived. A runner brought us the dish, and the rolls did not look right so we waited. She came by to check in a couple of minutes. She told us what each roll was, which were not what we ordered. So she took them back, and we saw her bring the same dish (which was at our table for about 2 minutes) to another table. They then took another 10-15 minutes to bring us half our order, followed by the rest of our order about 10 minutes after that. We were there about an hour and a half, and it was a weeknight and not very busy. We were charged full price. So, a rough night for them service-wise. And like I said the sushi was pretty good, may have tasted better if we even had half the service problems.
