There is that dimension where there is neither earth, nor water, nor fire, nor wind; neither dimension of the infinitude of space, nor dimension of the infinitude of consciousness, nor dimension of nothingness, nor dimension of neither perception nor non-perception; neither this world, nor the next world, nor sun, nor moon. And there, I say, there is neither coming, nor going, nor stasis; neither passing away nor arising; without stance, without foundation, without support. -Buddha, on Nirvana

Nirvana Ratings and Reviews
We didn’t eat here.
We left at 7:30, after waiting thirty minutes for our 7pm reservation. A private party had booked upstairs, leaving available only the few tables downstairs.
Why three stars? On the positive side, the host and hostess seemed genuinely concerned with the situation and comped our bar drinks. On the negative side, another couple was seated ahead of us after we had been promised “the next table.” I also found interesting the fact that Open Table showed the availability of reservations at 7:30, the time we left when Nirvana was unable to seat us.
We love Indian food, and Nirvana was probably the best we've ever had in NYC. From the creative cocktails to the welcoming staff, everything at Nirvana surpassed our expectations. Be prepared for spicier than you think for "medium spicy" items. The Chana (split pea) side dish was surprisingly hot! Go to Nirvana with an empty stomach--you'll want to try a little of everything. Highly recommend.
As always, dinner here is a great experience. Tables are far enough apart so that you can have a conversation without whispering so that the people at the next table can't hear you. The service and food is wonderful and you never feel rushed. Great for spending time with friends you haven't seen in a while.
Have been coming here for a long time .. amazing experience most of the time .. the service staff are helpful, polite with the right balance of service .. six stars for them
Food at the last visit was not at level of previously experienced; perhaps the chef was out, but definitely of lesser quality in execution ... past experiences served perfectly cooked and seasoned meats and seafood at the right sized portions .. my recent experience had me on undercooked and no flavor scallops, dull chicken (tasted more like frozen chicken breast out of the microwave and buried in tasty I must say sauce)
Regardless ... great place with one bad execution .. I will of course revisit ... hopefully the regular chef will be back
Welcome and service was good but food was tasteless , we tried to feed ourselves on frenchfries and ketchup after not being able to eat and upon ordering
No french fries and ketchup as last resort on this restaurant - they say its an Indian restaurant not serving these
The waiters could have been more helpful in choosing from the many choices since it was our first visit to this restaurant. It also took awhile for the food to arrive. Happily we were not in a rush, but a bit hungry. The food was good though, not too spicy and very flavorful.
Found it on Trip Advisor and went there on a sunday night. The entrance looks a bit sketchy and the restaurant decor is nothing special. When the food came it was clear that these guys were only focusing on the taste. The chicken tikka was the best I ever had. It was succulent and tasty and I highly recommend it. The butter chicken is not on the menu but if you ask them, they'd be happy to prepare you a delicious one. We just ordered a bunch of stuff to share, including chicken, fish and veggies and were very pleased with all of them. The friendly staff is also a big bonus.
This was my first time at Nirvana and I wanted to try it out since it is so close to work. The food was very good and the portions were a good size along with reasonable prices for Manhattan. The wait staff was attentive but not overcrowding. I will definitely come back again.
