I love the food at this place. Our waitress was particularly inattentive and poor. I wish I could say that it was a result of the place being busy but it was not. Overall, it was a poor dining experience but this was all due to my frustration with our waitress who had to be reminded multiple times to bring more water, more rice (food is deliciously spicy), the check, and got our order wrong. I'd give it another shot though, because the food is that good.
Have always enjoyed it before, but won't go back. One of our servers was so out of it that it wasn't clear if it was his first day or he was trying to make it his last. The last time we were there, we were asked whether we wanted mild, medium, or hot. Not this time. We had to ask for sauce for our samosas; it was just dumped on another chickpea appetizer we ordered. There are too many other good Indian restaurants to bother with Nirvana again.
Made a reservation more than 24hrs in advance and found the restaurant closed. The hours sign showed it should have been open, but there was no sign on the door saying it was closed for whatever reason. No one contacted me after I made the reservation or even since that night.
When we arrived, they were not even aware of this open table reservation. they had to squeeze
us in (15 of us).
The food is very good. Our one complaint was that one dish for one member of our party was prepared extremely spicy when she asked for mild. The server refused to address this, insisting that the dish was prepared as ordered. We were the only diners in the restaurant at 6:30 on a Saturday, and we were not getting anywhere with our issue. We took the spicy dish home, I ate it the next day and loved it, but this place has no concept of customer service. Also no beer selection whatsoever. How can you be Indian restaurant with full bar without Kingfisher?
not enough food available for a lunch crowd that is mainly a buffet style restaurant. Need to be more prepared.
Although the space needs to be updated a bit, the food and service was very good. Would def go again.
Food was very good. Took 45 min to be served. Restaurant had 3 to 4 parties. Ordered white wine which was served at room temp. Ordered appetizer that was forgotten, not served. Server was nice and apologetic about delay in food preparation throughout.
These guys always take good care of us. Love the food and the portions are great!
I love their non-vegetarian lunch with goat special! So much food for the money! I come here with co-workers from time to time and the food is just great. They have two preselected meal options for lunch, a vegetarian and non vegetarian. The meals comes in trays of various dishes which include a curry, meat, lenthils, bread, dessert, and biryani. If you like indian food, you gotta try this place!
love the lunch buffet here, the food is really great. service is so-so. they packed up the lunch buffet at exactly 3pm on the dot even though customers were still eating. maybe they should consider leaving the food out there until people are finished and simply not allow new customers to take from the buffet after 3pm. poor management decisions on that one. but cannot argue with the great food.
Over the past 2 years I have been to Nirvana 5 times. I believe the food quality is very good, however, the service and atmosphere is terrible. The owner of this restaurant should be embarrassed at his staff - I have gone at times and inventory on Indian beer is completely depleted on a SATURDAY! Completely limited by the management. It is too bad, this place could be spectacular.
Good food in pretty surroundings, at a reasonable price. Service not very attentive but polite. I didn't like paying 8.95 for a glass of low-end wine when the entire bottle sells for $7.99. The "jumbo shrimp" were definitely not jumbo and some were very small. With a little more care this restaurant could much better, the potential is there.
The restaurant was practically empty which worked out well for the three of us as we were able to conversate without any distractions. The food was great. Would like to try this place with my wife in the future to see what she thinks.
The staff was professional and courteous, the food divine. We had Aloo Chat and Onion Bhaji for appetizers. Both were very good, the onion bhaji particularly so. The appetizer portions were very generous - more like a side dish for the entire family. Our main courses of shrimp Tandoori Masala and Chicken Tikka Masala were excellent. The chicken was the better of the two entrees. Chicken was very tender, moist, and flavorful. This was our first time dining here, and we will be back.
I stopped by Nirvana for the first time, based on the Open Table search I did for the area I was traveling through and as luck would have it, this placed showed up. I ordered the vegetable samosas and Aloo Gobi and really enjoyed both. The Aloo Gobi was very fresh and light, which was perfect! Terrific service as well...I'll return when my business calls me back to the Wilmington area!
I really enjoyed the food and the service. I like hot, spicy food and to be safe I went with medium heat. I could have gone with mild heat.
We came expecting authentic food and got bland, bland bland. Everything tasted pretty much the same as if the kitchen had one big sauce pot and dolloped it out to a variety of "different" foods. The waiter was indifferent, and only came to life when we did not leave the full "gratuity" that came on the bill. We thought 15% for no service and a buffet was quite adequate. He came chasing out to our car to demand another $.58 that the restaurant had calculated. Can't imagine going back.
I had colleagues here from India. I picked this place after searching through Open Table. They really enjoyed the selection from the menu and each felt the food was really good; authentic Indian cuisine. They plan to visit again.
A nice variety of Indian specialities. The food was plentiful. We liked everything and took a good amount home. I would return more often if this were closer to home. I was impressed with how many customers were actually of Indian or Asian heritage, how other languages were spoken at different tables throughout the establishment -- this is always a good sign.
