We love Nippon Tei. Great food and drinks! Service is always outstanding!! Definitely would recommend to my friends and family!
Been a customer for many years. They’ve cut down portions by half and increased price by about 30%. It was a complete rip off. We will not be returning.
Have been eating here weekly for years for both business and family meals. They have fallen off dramatically recently - timing seems tied to the "new menu." Lots of tasty, less expensive items removed (udon noodles) and some of the more popular items still remaining now have inexpensive fillers (alaskan rolls now have cream cheese). Certainly seems like a change in ownership and profitability, not quality food. Terrible shame since I now need to take my clients and family elsewhere for good Asian.
Changed the menu. Eliminated about half the nigiri: no scallop, no mackerel, no uni, no baked mussels, no baked clams, no egg (egg is now sashimi style of 3 big blocks with no rice). They also did away with the slips so now you have to tell the waitstaff what you want off the menu.
Chicken fried rice and chicken teriyaki are now dark meat rather than breast meat and no longer comes with miso soup.
Never disappointed. One of my favorite places. If you don't eat sushi, try the excellent grilled salmon.
Food is always amazing and Angela does a great job of recommending new items and making good suggestions. Best sushi in the St Louis area in my opinion.
We went for NYE and was greeted at our table with a glass of Champagne and dish of edamame. The staff definitely made the evening a special night!
Best sushi in St. Louis! Wait staff are helpful and have never been disappointed here.
Not as good as it used to be. Food was overpriced and service was slow. Forgot a salad.
Please go back to old spicy tuna roll recipes. With crispys mixed in. Thanks!
The best quality sushi in St. Louis area... our family loves sushi and we have eaten in many sushi places around St Louis. So far, Nippon Tei wins every time...
Best sushi sushi and Japanese restaurant in StL area by far.
Great food as always!
A little pricy...but, good quality isn't cheap! Not your everyday sushi!
All that we ordered was well prepared, delicious and fresh. The menu was full of things I like to eat. I settled on a sushi roll, that was very good, and the small plate sashimi for $12. It was a very small plate, very very small. It contained 6 small pieces of three different fish, all delicious, on a bed of noodles.
It's a little brightly lit so the atmosphere is just a little cafeteria-like.
I would recommend Nippon Tei.
Great sushi rolls.
Sushi was fresh and delicious. Services was great even with it being a Friday night and very crowded. Highly recommend.
Best sushi in St. Louis! We've been regulars for 16 years! They have great service, great atmosphere and, always amazing sushi!
Delicious Sushi, some of the best I have had in St. Louis. I will definitely go back.
It's our favorite sushi in St. Louis. We have eaten sushi all over the United States.
Nippon Tei Sushi is among the best I've ever had. It's a little pricey. We save it for a special occasion.
A mix of classic and creative sushi. The salmon/avocado roll was reliably delicious, and the red dragon and dynamite rolls were a sushi lover's dream. While our waiter could have been a little more attentive (forgot to put our appetizer order in), my experience at Nippon Tei was amazing. Would recommend to anyone in the STL metro area.
A great find.
We have been to Nippon a million times and have recommended it many. This visit was very disappointing. They were out of lettuce for the salad. Also out of avocado for the avocado rolls. This was at 630 on a Saturday night:(
This is our favorite sushi restaurant in St. Louis ! They have exceptional quality and great service. Angela & Jay always remember us and usually remember something we love to order or they recommend something that looks amazing or is an off menu special. If you haven't been here you are missing out! I grew up on sushi in California...and, Neppon Tei competes with the best of them!
Food was good. Seats by window cold in the winter. Our server did not go over specials like the other servers.
We came for Valentines Day and it was crowded but somehow it was not noisy. We were able to converse and enjoy our wonderful sushi. Our service was impeccable and sushi was shear perfection. The presentation down to the salad was worthy of pictures!
Wonderful (as always) from start to finish. Favorite restaurant in St Louis
This is the 'Cheers' bar for Sushi! They always remember you and at least one thing you like to order! Angela & Jay are the best! Great service...amazing food!
Awesome Sushi!!! We went to celebrate my friends Birthday. Also, girls night out.
Our server Cat was amazing! Never went hungry or thirsty, she was right there when we needed her but still have us our space. The sushi and Rangoon where unreal! Week definitely be returning!

Love this place!!!
The food was outstanding. Far and away the best Sushi resturant in St. Louis
We like their food and service. Very friendly environment.
Amazing as always. One of the best restaurants in STL and a not so "hidden jem".
The food is fresh, super flavorful and the attention to detail is always spot on. Service was a bit slow but they were really busy.
This was some of the best sushi I have had in Saint Louis. Since we had a large group, I was able to try several of the rolls. They were all great. The White Tuna Sashimi was amazing. The Miso Soup is also great.
Best sushi in St. Louis! This is our 'go to' sushi spot. We keep trying new places but, always come back to the best sushi in town!
Food was presented beautifully. We had the night's special "tower" of seafood with ahi tuna,
shrimp, and copious amounts of caviar-like fish eggs, it was delightful and most delicious.
We have been going here for at least 10 years. The staff is always friendly and professional. They taught our kids to use chopsticks when they were little and it is still our whole family's favorite place to go. Great sushi and ambiance!
Always delicious. My favorite sushi in town. Always start with the sashimi appetizer, what a bargain. Huge pieces of fish(I'd say twice the size of most others' sashimi plates, about 12-15oz of fish on their app). Fish is fresh, which of course is always a concern with seafood, especially in stl. Sushi is never known to be cheap, but here you get your moneys worth, if not more.
