Nino's Tuscany - Permanently Closed

Nino's Tuscany Steakhouse provides a cozy, welcoming haven and unfussy, well-executed cooking from its namesake central Italian region. Pastel-hued murals of the idyllic Tuscan countryside, brickwork, and softly-lit elongated sconces set a pleasant mood that's enlivened in the evenings by the sprightly piano playing of irrepressible nonagenarian, Irving Fields.

The meal was absolutely superb. It's restaurant week, and a quick girls hang out for dinner. We enjoyed every bit of the meal. Everything was seasoned well freshly prepared. We were satisfied and not overstuffed which I am vert happy about. The service was second to none, the entire staff is warm, friendly, and attentive. I will definitely be returning.

The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 12:15pm. Two more diners arrived. A lovely quiet lunch. My friend had onion soup to start and I had buffalo mozzarella which was delicious. Her main course was lemon salmon and mashed potatoes which she enjoyed and I had chicken with sausage and roasted potatoes which was nothing special but ok. A glass of pinot grigio was a bargain at $11. Desert was ricotta cheesecake and tiaramisu. Tiaramisu was the better choice. Tea and coffee were included on the restaurant week menu. The tables are very well spaced. Service was attentive, but I have no idea what it is like when it is full. We went for lunch on a Monday.

The portions were very small however the wine pours were generous. Appetizer size looked like a tapas size. Entree size looked like an appetizer size. Ironically pasta portions were small and chicken/sausage portion large. Not worth the $ due to size of plates and also the ac seemed not to be adequate or it was broken. Several people complained it was too hot.

We were looked after excellently, and ate very well, at Nino's. Just slightly less pricey than some other Italians in Midtown West, the décor is slightly faded but it's casual and relaxed - just what we needed. We got the disappointing bit out of the way early - the wine list. Either they didn't have it, or when they did it wasn't the right temperature. In the end they served us Prosecco that was only chilled enough on the second glass. Oh, and the bread in the bread basket was stale - ugh. But after that, the evening hit all the right notes: the food above all. A beautifully cooked filet mignon, rare to perfection on the inside but just enough seared on the outside. Gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce were home-made. Even the fruit flambé was a bit of old-fashioned theatre that made the kids jump. It wasn't cheap, but other eateries in the neighborhood would have been more ruinous. And the service was cheerful and genuine. All in all very Italian and loads of fun.

This is casual Italian dining. Wines by the glass were very basic. Menu was average to below average. Food quality was good, although I found the veal scallopini to be a very small portion, but tasty. Pretty good burrata. I ended up pay much more than I intended.

This is my go-to place whenever I have tickets to NY City Center. The service is outstanding. Very attentive, but yet completely relaxed. They don't mind if you linger over tea or coffee, but they don't let empty plates or empty glasses linger. I've tried many of their pasta and seafood dishes. All have been delicious. Their specials are always very nice. Their deserts are lovely. And the portions are perfect. It's reliable and completely unpretentious. I always enjoy myself.

My friend and I had a Living Social deal at Nino's Tuscan. It was a very good deal and included two appetizers, two main courses, one dessert, and a bottle of wine. We had the seafood salad and the meatballs as appetizers and shared both. We each ordered the filet mignon and lobster tail main course, and the waiter was willing to substitute broccoli for the mashed potatoes. For dessert, we picked the chocolate mousse, which was too sweet for our taste. The waiter was very generous and brought us two mousses, instead of the one that was included. We picked the Malbec wine, which went very well with our dinner.

I went Nino's on Feb. 10 2017 for luch with my friend and we ordered the lunch of Winter Restaurant Week. Probably because the price just $29 per person for 3 courses, the food weren't impressed at all. My friend had salmon and i ordered chicken as main dish but not really can say it's delicious. i had a few different restaurants during winter restaurant week but most of them were good... except with Nino's. i hope they will do better next time.🙄

Our second time there - first was on a Travel Zoo coupon, this time for restaurant week. Both times were excellent. We have scanned the regular menu and have agreed that we will back very soon to try their regular fare. Prices are reasonable considering location, quality, ambiance, and all factors. And the food was excellent!

It is a favorite restaurant for many years. I like families in my dining room. Warm service with kind service, like having meals at home, I am happy because I can walk. The price is also fair. The taste is also delicious and I have been around for 20 years, but I have never been disappointed. I am lonely that the piano is gone.

So it is rare for me to write a poor review for a resturant that I eat at but I felt on this occasion it was important I reflect my experience. I went there for dinner with my brother. He ordered the NY strip steak ($45) with a order of fries ($10). He asked for medium but you could tell what was served was medium rare. Now, before you think it, yes I know you can send it back , but frankly when you are paying $45 just for your steak you should NEVER have to do that. The fries were over cooked! I am sure you all know how much fun it is to eat over cooked fries. Again you can send then back but again really???? at $10 should you have too. As for my meal I ordered pasta and chicken. Now its chicken, a little bit like cooking bacon, kinda hard to mess it up. What was delivered was literally chicken I could not cut with my table knife!!! I can't remember the last time I was served chicken that was so messed up. The cost of all this fun was just shy of $100 for the two of us (no booze or desert or starter). Service was ok, the server came by once at the end of our meal to see how it was? Enough said, we won't go back again and I strongly encourge you to read the other reviews before you book...maybe we just had bad luck???

Worst service we have ever experienced. Two of our appetizers were not what we ordered.Even our cocktails were wrong. We had to ask for steak knives. Some of our silverware wasn't replaced between courses. Soft drinks weren't brought to our table until after our 3rd request. Food was decent, but that's all. After complaining to Maitre d/ hostess, Nothing was done to compensate for our inconvenience & displeasure.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem on a girls trip while staying in the Central Park area. Just a few steps off the craziness of 57th Street. The atmosphere was wonderful, felt like a place for locals and very welcoming. The food was amazing with homemade Italian style. Our waiter listened to our style and recommended dishes not even on the menu and he did not disappoint! We had the Gnocchi and a Seafood Rissoto that had all of the sea in it.. truly amazing!! For desert we had the Zabaione which is made table side and again was a delightful experience! I am almost glad we did not dine here the first night or we may have not gone anywhere else.

Needed a place in this neighborhood for a holiday dinner for me and some colleagues. The place is billed as an Italian steak house, but my steak was only passable. The portions were small, everything was overpriced, and the waiter was poor (I had to get up and seek him out twice). There was a very limited and very overpriced wine list. The wine I wanted was a 2010 vintage, and I just had a feeling that they would try and slip another vintage pass me. They did. I pointed this out, but no apology and no change in price for a younger, lesser vintage. As I was paying for all of this myself, I was especially unhappy with the end result. The worst kind of experience for a Manhattan Italian restaurant.

The service was horrible! We had reservations for 7pm and didn't get seated until 8pm. They had parties that came in after us that we're seated sooner all because they knew who they were. We were told to wait in the bar area b/c there was no standing room where the hostess stand was and when we tried getting a drink, the bartender didn't wait on anyone unless they were sitting. In part because he was so flustered that he wasn't able to keep up with the rush, even his servers were getting frustrated with him because it kept their tables waiting, so they would eventually get behind the bar to poor their own tab. After asking the hostess three times, we finally got seated. Although the food wasn't bad, we almost ended up wearing it as two of the servers ran into the corner of our table, completely shifting everything on the table. No one was organized and we saw our server twice the entire dinner. The food didn't outweigh the inconvenience of the dining experience and the poor attentiveness from the staff.

    1) Although we had a reservation (8 People), we had to wait over 45-minutes for our table. Another group of 10 came in after us and were seated immediately! 2) Our server was very friendly, however, he forgot to put in 3 appetizers that we ordered. 3) While presented nicely by the waiter, my Dover Sole was both cold (despite heating a plate on a burner while he fileted it table side and then transferring the fish to that plate when served) and very firm. It was apparent that the fish was sitting on the line for a while before making it out to the Dining Room. :-(

We were in NYC for Thanksgiving and found Nino's on the Open Table app when we were at the parade. They had a 3 course prix fixe menu that looked reasonable and delicious with a number of choices. I'm glad we chose Nino's as it was a delicious meal as well as a very friendly and warm atmosphere. It was not overcrowded and was very nice for our thanksgiving dinner. Our waiter as well as all staff were very attentive without being overly intrusive. They even bought us a round of lemon cello shots at the end of the meal. Overall a great place and will definately dine there when in NYC again.
