Nino's Ratings and Reviews
Booked one month in advance for Valentine's day. Upon arrival, took 15min to even receive a menu and water. Then discovered restaurant was offering only prix fixe menu, for $70/person. Asked waiter for regular menu, who said kitchen only had available the prix fixe items. Complained that was never informed about this limited menu as well as premium pricing. Waiter then argued with me that he called everyone to inform them about the prix fixe a few days ago. I only received a voice mail asking to confirm the reservation, followed by a text message, which I confirmed via text. Neither communication mentioned the prix fixe. Might have stayed if not for the exceptionally slow service and the waiter / manager became argumentative. Walked out. Harbor ill feelings for wasting my time, both in restaurant as well as near impossibility of finding alternate dining plans that night (every nearby restaurant was booked). Finally found another place with availability, and sat down an hour later than planned. Ended up costing half the price too.
The lack of service was horrible Toward the. End of the meal what I presumed to be a owner said the computer system had been down for a day Of course the same person ultimately after waiting for a server for 15 minutes to give a cocktail order said oh I thought you were waiting for a 3 rd Obviousky whatever was the issue the owner handled it poorly. Was satisfied with the food and will give it one more try
Nino's never fails to please. Our dinner Saturday night was for a group of friends, some of whom were very picky eaters, yet we all left the restaurant in a happy mood. The staff went out of its way to accommodate everyone. The ambiance, of course, is great, and so was the singing and piano work of Chris Barrett. I hope to return soon. The food, incidentally, is very good.
We went to Nino’s with my family for the first time Friday night and we absolutely loved it. The food and service was amazing - not to mention the man playing the piano. What a perfect night. We just made reservations for when my family comes back into the city for our annual Christmas celebration.
Been here several times before and the food, service, and ambience is still outstanding and stellar. Highly recommend the Lobster Fra Diavolo - great portion with incredible taste, meaty, and fresh with just the right amount of spices. The linguine which accompanies the Lobster is cooked to perfection and very delicious. Their salads were also fresh, crunchy, and not heavy with the dressing. Service was attentive and professional. Definitely recommend Nino's to anyone looking forward to classic Italian dining! :)
I had a very delicious meal with a friend here the other night. The duck risotto was very good and the lamb chops were outstanding! Cooked perfectly, and very juicy and tender. Service was helpful and attentive. It's a little on the expensive side but worth it if you want to splurge a little. Nino himself came over and offered us free after dinner drinks. A great night!
Waiter pushed to get order immediately and after being asked for more time, persisted. While it was a Sat night, there were several empty tables, so no need for the pressure to move so quickly. Plates were cleared as we were eating, literally.
For 2 people to spend well over $230, the service was very amateurish. Food was excellent. Old time Italian, well-prepared.
Nino's has been a local Upper East Side (UES) fixture for many years, reasons being that the food, service, and ambience is outstanding! My favorite Italian dish is anything with pasta. I've had pasta in many different restaurants in NYC, and I must say that Nino's pasta dishes have the right texture, amount, and seasoning. Their meat dishes are also cooked to perfection and look absolutely succulent. Waiters/servers are really friendly and professional. The overall restaurant ambience is warm, inviting, and cozy, making me feel welcomed. I also think their prices are reasonable, especially here in the UES. In addition, Nino's has a live pianist performing on the weekends. His music appeals to all generations, thereby augmenting my eating experience. Highly recommend Nino's and hopefully you'll enjoy this fine restaurant!
