Every experience I have at Ninos is a 10/10. Elegant, delicious and with excellent staff. The piano on weeknights is an added treat!
Food was not great
Food was poor. Service abysmal. The dining room was excessively warm. Very disappointed. Used to be my favorite restaurant in NYC. Not going back.
Nino s staff is courteous and attentive . Food was exceptional Will definitely be back
Great place for a dinner date. Although I booked the reservation and it was 1000 points but I only received 100. We was there on time and everything, don’t get it :/
What joy to be in a civilized white tablecloth restaurant! The very good piano player came as an unexpected bonus. And it’s only a block from my apartment. My dear friends loved it- we could actually have a real conversation.
My main problem was the presentation of the thanksgiving dinner on the menu. We were seated but not given a dinner menu for 15 minutes. This was a special thanksgiving day menu. Appetizers, entree, dessert. It was presented as a price fix menu though it didn’t say that and the prices were there. Not their fault actually but it was the way a price fix menu usually looks. To add to that, when the captain came to take out order he had us order all the courses at the same time. This also suggests price fix menu. Also food was ordinary and cranberry sauce was disgusting. Definitely would not go back
The service is top notch, old school New York. The food was very good and service was fantastic. Great authentic restaurant.
Quality neighborhood Italian, that takes its food and service seriously. Definitely worth a visit if you are in this part of the Upper East side.
Great food, great music, great hospitality!
In the comments section I asked for a table where neither of us had to face a wall. On arrival immediately led to a table for two with a view of a wall. We asked to have a different table to which the seater (who is not Nino but looks somewhat similar) totally ignored my request. I turned to Nino who sat us at a table for four. The restaurant was empty except for a large group. There were at least 7 four tables available. NOT SURE WHY OUR REQUEST WAS DISMISSED.
The food was just OK. The prices not outrageous but we managed to spend $150 for2 people and we only had Cesar salad for 2, 2 pasta dishes, plus 2 HOUSE wines each.
We knew the bartender from the night before. He was very nice and accommodating. We asked our waitress if she could ask him if he could make us a chocolate martini. About 15 minutes later she said he said that he could. So we paid our bill and went to the bar.
Only four of us at the bar. He made us very nice chocolate martinis. It is now a little after 9:00. Wait staff starting to leave. This is a Friday night. Odd, don't you think. Then the bartender starts to leave and we ask him about our check and leaving him an appropriate tip. He says don't worry about it. And when he handed us our drinks he said good luck. But when we questioned him about our bill he said he is allowed to do this for us and that intimated that there would be not charge. To which we said we would make sure we came back the next night to reply to his kind gesture. My friend and I were shocked, thinking we were getting 2 drinks on the house. Also thinking maybe that's because we spent a good amount on dinner. Bartender leaves, finish drinks, ready to leave, my friend/guest is asked to pay the bill. To which we are both shocked but obliged. I paid. Never going back. Embarrassing situation and no class place. Spent $200 on a neighborhood place. The restaurant is a little tired looking as well as the menu. Desperately needs an update. Oy
My sister and I had a special dinner together and were in taste bud heaven!
We ordered Nino’s meatballs which were out of this word .. they brought out a side of roasted Italian peppers with garlic. We than had each an order of spinach and light ricotta ravioli in the best pesto sauce we have recently tried or made! (Maybe a touch of cream in this). Wine was a Super Tuscan blend.
We went all out for dessert with the Banana Flambé witch was prepared at tableside with other fruits and liquors... it was heavenly!!
Our favorite must visit every time we come to NYC.
I ate the vegetarian option and the grilled vegetables were delicious, particularly the Pesto which had a most unusual but fantastic citrus flavor.
we were the only diners at a recent lunch, so noise level was nil...food was good, portions large, and service, attentive...overall, not very different from many other old world Italian restaurants, so a re-vist is not likely
Outstanding food and service!
We have been to Nino’s three times. The first two were excellent but this last time not so much. We ordered their special king crab appetizer for $19 and we had trouble finding the crab meat. I thought it was a rip off. I tried a new pasta - veal Ragu with onions and peppers and garlic and oil. The veal itself was very tender and tasty but the rest of pasta dish was tasteless. I would go back to order the pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage. That was excellent. I have been raving about this restaurant to friends in the neighborhood and I was just disappointed with the appetizer and the main dish this last time so I think you just have to be careful what you order. My husband had the lamb shank all three times and loves it and friends ordered the osso bucco and love that.
Always great food. Very casual - nothing fancy here.
We tried Ninos during restaurant week and we were very pleasantly surprised. Or appetizers were outstanding, my husband had the seafood salad and I had the tuna tartare and I would recommend both. For the main course my husband had a lamb shank and it was fabulous. I had brand Zeny with clams and mussels and I have to say I would not order it again. It was cooked perfectly but the tomato sauce was way too heavy. Our tiramisu desert was outstanding. The service was wonderful. We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay and when it was served we discovered it was too old and well past it’s prime and the waiter was very good about replacing it with the lovely bottle of Merlot. The silver actually thanked us for calling to his attention that the first one was too old to be served. We’re looking forward to a return visit very soon .
Great food and Chris Barrett was amazing. We’ll definitely be back.
I had gone to Nino’s several years ago and did not like it. I do not remember why but I never went back again. This past week, I went back during Restaurant Week. We needed a neighborhood place so we took a chance. After all, it has been there for years. Someone must think it is good.
We loved it. I am sorry that I did not go there all these years. I live in the neighborhood and it is relatively close to my apartment. I will be back again and will recommend it.
The meal was quite enjoyable for the nine of us. It was a family reunion and the restaurant had excellent food, was quite comfortable, service was friendly and not rushed. We plan to return.
Great and delicious food! Generous portions. Unlike most restaurants on Upper East Side, you will not come away hungry.
Excellent service, each course was made with the freshest ingrediants and a beautiful.fresh fruit dessert display was a gift and a surprise..a enjoyable evening was had...thank you to Henry and the staff at Nino's
Unlike the previous time I was there about 3 months ago, this dinning experience was a major disappointment. My half a lobster & seafood pasta cost $55. But it was terrible. The pasta was soggy. The whole presentation looked terrible. And we only wanted one plate to share, but two same plates were delivered to us! We already had a big caesar salad. And they over charged us on our wine. Essentially, this restaurant is not capable of delivering consistent good service or delicious food. This is unacceptable for an expensive restaurant.
Been here several times and food is delicious. They told us the specials of the day and very friendly staff
Ninos is a staple of New York. Excellent service and exceptional food. Specials are always amazing
The piano player was fantastic. Made our meal even better.
The place is a find. Been around a while and I don't know how I missed. It is all about the customer at Ninos.
So glad we chose this dinner that combined traditional Italian with fine dining- bananas flambe! Prosciutto tower, were the highlights. The wait staff is very attentive! The hot appetizer sampler was also very good, fresh, hot!
I had the lobster ravioli, which was only meh (starchy and not very lobstery),but maybe I was already full from all the other great appetizers. My sister had that clams and linguine which was packed with clams. She said it was really good. My husband had the veal, which he also said was very good.
The piano was too loud and the singing very loud in a small room. We cannot have a quite dinner and talking to our friends were impossible. There is a baby grand piano in a tiny room. We had the piano right in front of our table. We had to scream the entire night to chat with our friends. It was terrible. Our dinner was ruined.
Whether a business meeting or a romantic date, you cant go wrong with Nino’s. Food is fantastic and service is great!
I went with Lobster Fra Diavolo which was fantastic... I always start with the caesar salad made fresh, table-side.
Try Nino’s— you cant go wrong with anything on the menu!!! Amazing selection of fresh fish as well!! Plenty of choices for vegetarians too!
Nino’ s is an old fashioned Italian restaurant . The food was very good as well as the service. The music was ok . Overall it was a good experience and we will go back another time.
Amazing Festive Delicious Relaxed Beautiful Live Piano Music and fabulous Singer. We love Nino’s ❤️
Went there on a Saturday evening with some family. The service and the food we all amazing. I will definitely go and bring more people. I highly recommend Nino’s!! Five star
I love this place because it is elegant not too expensive and has a live piano player. BEST OF ALL YOU CAN DANCE to the standards at this place with no watching you so you feel embarrassed if you a terrible dancer like me. Piano players differ - the one last night was the least good one I've heard there - but generally they play and sing well.
Good food, good service, an attractive place for any occasion.
Disappointing. I hadn't been there in a while and despite that the owner was on hand -- the service wasn't good. it was weird -- they got our very simple drinks wrong ( gave a Scotch & Coke instead of a Scotch and soda, and it took explaining to convince the waiter it was wrong. no apology or oops) and right after they cleared our entrees they instantly plunked the bill down. Bizarre. They didn't ask if we wanted coffee/dessert, and we didn't ask for the check. And we had been there about an hr and it wasn't busy. I told the waiter we wanted dessert & coffee, and nicely handed him back the check. No apology -- just a quizzical look and retreat. The food was good, not fabulous...and for $150 for 2, and I expect much better/ good service.
Great east 70's standby. This is a "traditional" restaurant with a solid menu, and interesting specials, all beautifully prepared. Portions are generously sized. We went on a Wednesday evening at 8pm, so it was quiet with not too many people. When the place is full, it gets noisy, especially when the piano player gets going, and the service can get rushed. But on a quiet night, it's a delight.
