Ninos 46 Ratings and Reviews
We were recommended to this small place in NYC that you wouldn't know it was there if you passed by too quickly. When we walked in and were waiting to be seated there was a very harried small-dish woman that wouldn't acknowledge our presence which is a big red flag for me. However, the chef was right there cooking over the wall....it seems the kitchen is right up front and seating in the rear....and he was speaking with some other diners. He was friendly and charming and then it was better. We heard him speaking about the special which was a 'kitchen-sink' pasta. This turned out to be a 4-meat bolognese with a fried egg on top and a chili oil drizzle. It was amazing. We also had some broccolini and a salted caramel creme brûlée. We shared it all and were quite happy. Service was okay, but the server spoke so quietly, we never heard what he was saying in the noisy place.
Great to be packed but don't rush your guests! Showed up fifteen minutes early for our reservation and had a drink at the bar while we waited. Drinks were pricey. Finally got sat 15 minutes after our reservation time at a table that was in the middle of the walkway. My chair was bumped into multiple times by staff and other patrons. The waiter was all business and we felt rushed through our meal to make room for the next reservation. Food was ok but nothing special.
Nino's 46 was a nice find, although a bit hard to find at night as it's name and front is not well lit.
They did hold our reservations even though we were a few minutes late looking for the restaurant, which was a big relief, otherwise it would have been a very long wait for a table of three. (It was my 13 yr old daughter, my wife and myself attending dinner while in the city for the weekend.)
The food and wine by the glass was very good and moderately priced. The wait staff was responsive to all of our requests and inquiries.
What a pleasant surprise! We chose Nino's 46 for location, walked in around 12 to find it empty and thought we'd made a mistake. It soon filled up, with a line waiting. Nonetheless, they let us enjoy a leisurely lunch. The food is good, and the prices excellent. Definitely recommended for casual dining in the theatre district.
Great midtown spot for a casual business dinner! We were a few minutes late but they were very accommodating. Food and service were both spectacular. We had the special squash burrata app and a Margherita pizza to start, salmon entree, pomodoro pasta and steak entree as well. Highly recommend and will be back!
We dined here after seeing the Rockettes and Top of the Rock. An easy walk and a lovely, cozy, delicious meal in an area that can feel touristy. Loved chatting with the manager (son of the owner) and appreciated a few gluten free options. We had a reservation at 5pm and by 6:00 the place had filled up. Feels like an authentic neighborhood Italian restaurant. Standing in line for the restroom you can watch the chefs work their magic!
Go for the burrata! The special for the night had the burrata warmed and served over acorn squash with pancetta and candied almonds. It was fantastic. The spinach gnudi was good, and the butter cheese sauce that came with it was incredible. We also had the chicken Parmesan with spaghetti, and a fettuccine bolognese special. All were excellent.
Attentive staff. Our experience was relaxed, not rushed, but the drinks and food arrived quickly.
The place is small, but not cramped. The atmosphere was lively, but not loud.
Had a great meal! The fried pumpkin was fantastic and was a recommendation of the waiter. We had salmon and linguine with clam sauce and both were prepared well and seasoned to perfection. The only drawback for us was we were seated in the back by the brick oven so it got quite warm . The pizzas looked awesome !
We arrived on time for our reservation but our table was still occupied by the previous diners. So we had to stand awkwardly by the door for 20 minutes until something was available. That was kinda annoying since we had a res. Music was loud but interesting and played into the dark and moody cool ambiance.
We had the fried truffle Mac and cheese balls which were divine. My hubs had the fuesili and l had the lamb lasagnette which was cute and delicious but hard to eat due to the tiny casserole it's served in. It was hard to get all the elements in a complete bite. But again, the food was delicious.
Great for pre-theater. Fabulous food and ambiance at very affordable prices. Food is creative and delicious. They handle gluten free options beautifully- nice seasonal specials too. Warm and cozy spot -easy walk to most broadway theaters. Service is excellent and fast - 6:30 reservation was done in plenty of time to stroll to the theater.
