NINJA NEW YORK Ratings and Reviews
This place is great ! If your looking for some entertainment with great food and drinks mixed in with a little vip treatment all in a ninja Japanese theme this is the place. One of a kind. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous and delicious. The drinks are original gotta two try the zai cocktail.
Well, I knew this going in, but as a restaurant it's wildly-overpriced and the food is only OK. Half of it isn't even Japanese.
Really, you're going for the ambiance. Ninja servers will scare you, your food and drink will bubble, mist over or spout flames, and there might be a magician.
I'd like it more if it were just a bit less overpriced, or there was more theater involved. Honestly, I wanted to see wait staff "assassinated" and/or disappear in poofs of smoke.
The magic show made the visit worthwhile even outweighing the food that send my family fighting for the bathroom when we got home. Order cooked food. Steak was better than I thought it would be. Buttermilk chicken also good. Ceviche was absolutely gross. I suspect the ceviche or sushi was responsible for the GI issues our family had. Daughter had no issue and she had the steak. Can’t say enough about the magic show — really awesome even impressed my aloof pre-teen. And kids loved the dry ice special effects.
This restaurant was worth it for the experience. The staff, atmosphere, and food presentation were great. Just know that you are going for (and paying for) the fun and creativity, not outstanding food. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't "wow, totally worth it" level good.
Absolutely fantastic experience! When you step out of the elevator, it feels like you've walked cave. Make a short walk down the hall and you're in the ninja village. The food was excellent as well as the presentation. Be warned though. Ninjas will jump out at you and try to surprise you so I can see how this would not be for everyone. However, my wife and I had a great time and we would definitely recommend it to our friends and family. Truly a unique experience!
Have been wanting to take my 10 year old here for a long time. It didint disappoint. Food was pretty good but its more about the ninja experience and ambiance. Also had a great magic show at the table. My son said from now on every time he visits nyc he wants to eat at ninja.
A few negatives:
1. Elevator was out of order, needed it
2. Lipstick stain on glass
3. Did not expect to be poked in ribs by "ninja" when arriving
4. Banging on table with wood stick attached to menu not expected and not necessary. Not good for someone who is sensitive to surprises.
Ninja moved up my reservation an hour which I truly appreciated. However it was very expensive for what we received; $230 for 4 people, burger, avocado roll, kids entree and a side, 1 app, 3 deserts, 2 adult drinks ... the wait staff also tried to scare us by yelling at us throughout the evening which was weird ... especially since Ninja's are suppose to be stealthful. They also did not sing happy birthday which I was assured over the phone they would. By the time I realized the window for them to do it was closed it was too late and we had our check. The magic was awesome, especially since the performance was so close (table side). I would not go back
