Nineteen XIX Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent, the service however was terrible. Our waiter ignored us for an unspecified reason. The only reason we had any service is the other waiter stepped in and filled our water glasses. Another person (I think a manager) cleared out plates. Terrible service!!!
We tried Nineteen for brunch after hearing nice things about it. We both ordered the Bao Eggs Benedict and we split a cinnamon bun. My partner ordered the roasted potatoes (these are made with duck fat so I could not eat them). The cinnamon bun was among the best tasting I have had - even better than Chartier which is saying something. The Bao Eggs Benedict had very stale Bao and the sauce was tasteless. The eggs were very good quality but overall the main dish was flavorless. My partner was looking forward to the confits potatoes but the server forgot to order them. She them put the order in and said they would be 3 minutes. They never came and when we asked for them to be taken off the bill she had forgotten about them. It wasn't busy and it's just kind of lame. I wouldn't go back.
I took my daughter-in-law and my son to Nineteen to celebrate her birthday. The decor was lovely, the menu varied and interesting and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. All of our meals were delicious, from starters to dessert, and were cooked and seasoned to perfection. I would definitely go to Nineteen again and would highly recommend this restaurant. A wonderful dining experience.
Server was really knowledgeable about the food and where it came from as well as the wine and regions the grapes were grown. The Manager came to introduce themselves and checked up that everything was going well. Good paced meal. Friendly staff. Great food.
I found this restaurant to be very overpriced. The tuna twists were tasty but there was such a small amount of tuna and so many noodles that you couldn't really taste the tuna. The kale Caesar salad was non descript. The lobster ravioli was delicious but couldn't taste any lobster, for the price of the ravioli, I was expecting at least some small chunks of lobster meat. Overall...average food at an above average price.
Service was the a let down. It pained us to tip 20% on an already expensive brunch. Food was good. Presentation excellent. I wish they paid more attention to details though. For example my egg slid off my bun in the eggs benny. It was served that way anyway. Unlikely to be back. Place has lots of potential but not worth the money in our experience.
We went to Nineteen X1X for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The food was well presented and tasted great. We tried the chef's special for the night, spring rolls, which were incredible. We also tried the beef short ribs risotto which was among the best we've had. Our server, Jennifer, was pleasant and attentive and we appreciated her enthusiasm and knowledge about the menu. The whole experience was an enjoyable girls' night.
Interior decor reminded me of Earls.
Table water served was room temperature, no ice provided.
2 out of the 3 crab cakes served as appetizer were burnt, and yet were still mushy inside. Maybe a previously frozen item?
Beef ternderloin spring roll appetizer was delicious, good crunch, tasted great.
Lobster ravioli had virtually no lobster flavour, totally lost in the spicy sauce. Shrimp served with this dish were good, a better match for the sauce.
Vegetarian option Gnocchi had a good overall flavour, but we're again quite mushy, perhaps a previously frozen item as well.
The room was quiet enough for conversation, and the staff were good enough to leave us to our date without many interruptions.
Overall though, not good enough for the price.
Overall tasty courses but service short comings will be the lasting impression. My stella came out flat (opt for bottles vs draught next time), the table bread was boring n came with cold, hard butter (strangely, they offered a different bread as we were finishing appies). No more panna cotta was disappointing but their signature warm butter cake was tasty. This was our 3rd time at xix and can't see us going again anytime soon
The first time I've been disappointed in this restaurant, I have been going for years. Not sure I'll return, feel somewhat ripped off.
They offered to shell the lobster, then did not give me all of the meat. I have worked in seafood for years and know exactly what I should have gotten.
They offered a free desert for their error.
Really nice dinner. Service was excellent! Chef very accommodating with some difficult food sensitivities I have. I found the noise level a little high and the space a little large but appreciated that they have managed to create more intimate corners for two. Great to have a nice option without going too far from home!
Took my significant other out for his birthday. Food was excellent if a bit pricey. It would have been nice to have been a little closer together. There was a bit too much distance between us, but its also nice to have space on the table and not be crowded. Overall very nice.
