The decor was my first impression and it was such a wonderful surprise. It’s very warm, inviting but posh. So tastefully done. Old world charm with modern touches. Our waiter was a delight. Very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a pleasure to be his guest. The chef came to our table to greet us and ask about our experience. I had no idea of what to expect. I had only heard the food was excellent. I felt very underdressed. But.. you could go either way. I will definitely be back for dining and the lounge looked like a great place for date night. Thank you to my food critic friend for telling me about this great spot. Did I mention the wine list.......omg.
The restaurant and food was amazing. I have been to XIX twice before and still happy to return.
We brought our friends there and they still are talking about the food, two days later.
My only comment is that our waiter reminded us that since we used a gift card on a portion of our bill that gratuity is only calculated on the remaining balance and that we should keep that in mind when selecting the gratuity option. This was a little pushy and unappreciated. We always tip a minimum of 10% if the service is horrible and then increase our percentage up to 20%. Our waiter would have gotten 20% had he not appeared so pushy to receive a tip.
Went there with high expectations from their menu and pictures but was very disappointed. The meals are very confusing and too much going on. For the price of the food I find the quality just not there. Went with friends tried 6 things from their menu and nothing was amazing. Mushroom soup was good. I will not be returning there a so many other places I would rather eat in the city. Also our server forgot our drink order twice. Just disappointed
We waited about 5 minutes to order our 1st drink and then that took 10 minutes to prepare. We had to send one drink back as it was terrible. The service improved a little after that although the food was very oily and salty. Not what you'd expect from a first class restaurant which I've loved in the past.
While I overall had s good experience here, there was one thing that knocked off a star for me. The "seasonal vegetables" they served with my salmon tasted like they'd been in a freezer for months. They didn't taste fresh and green as I'd expect for what they were charging for entrees. Other than that everything was quite good, it's a shame that one dull spot ended up impacting my overall enjoyment of the meal.
Our server Jennifer was very intuitive and made several suggestions that we quite enjoyed. The old fashioned and Manhattan are worth a visit on their own. Then the food, short ribs and black garlic scallop were sensational and the portions were very generous. This was our first experience there and definitely will not be our last.
We had a lovey time and our waitress was outstanding! Food was very nice but would not recommend the lobster ramen ( it was great but not to the level the price suggested) but the sirracha octopus starter was lovely for two and the salmon with peanut sauce was amazing ( I was able to share with my spouse and he regretted not ordering it too..)!!!
I was disappointed. The resteraunt wasn't busy and I had to ask to be put in a nice corner booth ( I made a reservation- not just a walk in). The food wasn't great. I usually love the ginger beef but it was overdone and made us feel unwell. I asked for a desert menu that never came. I used my dirty plate from my ginger beef to eat my shared entree. She knew we were sharing. Just was not good service at all
