Nine18 at The Villas of Grand Cypress Ratings and Reviews
We used the special menu and celebrated a Birthday. The selection on the menu was varied, the food was great, and the service was excellent. I snuck a peek at the regular menu prices and am so glad for the Magical Dining month.
Loved the view of the golf course and the opportunity to walk through the pro shop.
A very pleasant evening.
My husband and I dined here for the magical dining month. The restaurants decor is very simple with huge tables, even the tables for two. But the really star of the decor was the huge windows surrounding the restaurant with an overlook of the golf course. The food was really good, some of the highlights include the mushroom crepe appetizer, and the raspberry dessert. Both entrees were delicious as well. The wait staff was very attentive and answered all questions we had knowledgeable. We definitely recommend this restaurant.
I went with a group of friends to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had a really great time. Our server was very nice and professional and the overall service was top notch. It's perfect for a romantic dinner or even just a small group of friends. The food was great and even great presentation. I would definitely recommend this place and will be going back.
The decor and the atmosphere in the restaurant was elegant without being overt. We were promptly seated by the hostess and offered water by the busser. The restaurant had several tables occupied, but far from 'busy'. About 10 minutes later, we were brought an amuse-bouche. After waiting another 10 minutes, our server finally came to offer us drinks and explain the menu. The wine selection was decent and having the back-server bring the bottle to the table just to pour a glass of wine was a nice touch. We ordered off of the Magical Dining menu. The food was very good and the timing of courses was appropriate. Very appealing presentation and perfect temperature upon delivery to the table. After taking our initial meal order, we were not approached again by the front-server. Once we had finished dessert, it was almost as if we were invisible. Our table was cleared, save our water glasses (which were emptied) and our server did not approach us to inquire if we wanted our bill. We waited for over 30 minutes as the staff worked all around us. It was not until one of the ladies in our party had left the table and returned, when the floor manager approached to assist her with her chair that I had to ask for the bill to be brought to us. Had I not spoken up, even he would have walked away without inquiring if there was something he could do for us.
So, what was a pleasant meal with friends was slightly marred by the slow, somewhat un-attentive service by the front-server. We were sat in the restaurant for about 2 hrs 15 minutes and could have been done in 1 hr 30 minutes and not felt like we were 'rushed'. As a former server in a fine-dining restaurant, I appreciate allowing the clients to enjoy the experience. However, this instance felt more like neglect (for lack of a better term?).
Had an absolutely fabulous meal through the Orlando Magical Dining program. The staff made us feel special and welcome from the minute we walked in the door. Beautiful golf course view. I can personally recommend the crab cake, wild mushroom crepe, beef filet and chocolate molten cake. All were absolutely delicious!
we really enjoyed our entire experience at this restaurant. I've already told several friends and family about it. It was really nice to experience it for the Magical Month of Dining so that we could know first hand because we now know their regular prices are worth it.
We tried Nine18 for Orlando's Magical Dining Month menu and some decisions were tough to make- lots of good options! Our meal was started with an amuse boushe- a bite of sauteed spinach with a dab of goat cheese- which was a pleasant surprise and the bread that was served on the table was a nice mix of kalamata olive, sourdough and french bread which we could choose to spread with butter or hummus. The mushroom crepe was interesting- crispier than what I imagine when I think of a crepe (soft, pancake-like batter) and was quite tasty, as was the poached pear and arugula salad. The Filet Mignon was cooked perfectly (ordered as Medium Rare) and the bacon mashed potatoes and sauteed collard greens were nice accompaniments. The scallops were also seared nicely. For dessert, who can go wrong with a chocolate lava cake?! Nice and warm with chocolate oozing out, served with vanilla ice cream and a caramel sauce- yum! The raspberry mousse cake was also a great way to end the meal; light and just enough sweet. While there seemed to be no one available as we checked in for the reservation, once seated, the service was very attentive- we never felt forgotten about as even the Front of House Manager served plates in the dining room. I'd give Nine18 a hole in one!
We went with a group of four couples and had a fabulous evening. Everything about Nine 18 was outstanding. The service makes you feel really special. The food was totally top notch We eat at a lot of upscale places in the Orlando area and this place was in our top five favoriites. Then the atmosphere pulled it all together for a very special evening of dining out. Soft music with tastefully appointed dining room and a beautiful golf course view made this a night to remember and return to again
Excellent restaurant on a golf course. Refined atmosphere, great chef. We loved every dish: crab cake with carrot and citrus sauce, wild mushroom crepe with leak and spinach sauce, filet mignon with rutmus and bacon lardoons, scallops with creamed butternut squash sauce and hominy, chocolate melt-down with praline truffle center, raspberry mousse cake. Each three-course meal was only $33 (restaurant week); normally one entree would cost that much.
We dined during September's Magical Dining promotion, as we have before. The place raves it's only one of two 5 star Forbes rated restaurants in Orlando. The special menu options were excellent, beautiful presentation. If you don't look around and realize you're in a golf club house, you'd think you were in a very exclusive restaurant. There is no ambience. At one table was a golfer in shorts, golf shirt and tennis shoes. I would rate our experience higher if our waiter had introduced himself, if he had described each course and offered his recommendations. Also, we saw the manager around but he never worked the room or came to our table. There were only about 4 tables of people during our dining 6:30 - 8:00.
My wife got the filet and said it was better than the one she had at an exclusive steak place the night before. My scallops were excellent.
We dined at 4 different locations over labor day weekend and my wife says the 9/18 Martini was the best and most generous.
We picked this place from a list of restaurants in the area that had a $33 special appetizer, main, and dessert deal. The crab cake was the best I ever had and I have had quite a few. My filet was perfect, but the dessert was incredible. I expected a tiny portion, but was served a chocolate dream consisting of ice cream on a toffee dish and a chocolate cake with liquid chocolate center. We left full and impressed.
We tried Nine18 out during The Magical Dining for our anniversary. The staff was excellent and really went above and beyond for the occasion. We had a great view overlooking a little lake out towards Epcot in the distance. Which gave us a great view of the fireworks! I cannot say enough about the food. The presentation was fantastic (get the French onion soup. Awesome) and the food was wonderful in flavor. The dessert chef came out to speak with us and presented us with a fantastic dessert tray. We have already recommended it to friends. We will look forward to going again!
The whole experience of eating at Nine18 was absolutely flawless from the time we walked through the door until we left. Very attentive staff who did everything they could to make our dining experience memorable. Excellent menu and wine list. Lovely little touches such as coming out with gluten free bread for my daughter which is the first time this has happened anywhere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will definitely return!
Great service, wonderful alternative to scape from Disney's clutches.
Within the Disney estate, a great option to eat real and good food in a quiet and properly served ambience.
The place is within the golf club facility but it is far from being the typical club cafe or casual restaurant. It has a classy decor and a proper restaurant service.
Nice wine list and the food although the portions are more on the "novel cuisine" side are high quality and properly prepared.
We arrived late for dinner and the kitchen was operating normally and provided a good service.
If you are staying at the Villas, and want a nicer dinner, this place is convenient, but go in with lower expectations. The place was really empty, and yet the service wasn't great. The wine list is not well selected for diversity or costs or taste. The dining room is a bit dated and some areas seem unfinished. The also sat a table of young children (with one adult) next to our table, despite the many tables around and the noise level was challenging and unenjoyable. I should also say, we expected at least a minimum amount of dress code, but the guests next to us showed up in casual shorts, sweatshirts and flip flops. Not setting a very romantic scene. The food was pretty good, but the entree my husband had was as big as the appetizer I had - not huge portions, but adequate for those that eat less.
Visiting Orlando and wanting an adult night out, we picked this restaurant based on the reviews.
We drove up to a building that had valet service but no valet. My husband waited and then parked his car in the valet parking lot himself. Upon entering the restaurant for a 7pm reservation, we were aware that we were the only people in the place and were so for the entire meal. Our waiter was attentive, but sloppy. When he poured our wine he was spilling it on the table every time because of the speed of his pour. Our appetizers were good the two shrimp tasting I had was better than the tuna with greens. The Ceaser Salad was too strong on the mustard.
Main dishes were fair. My Grouper was very dry and whatever it was served with was no discript.
The scallops were fishy, but alright.
We did not have dessert. It wasn't worth trying based on our dinner.
Considering we were the only people in the restaurant; You would expect the chef to be on top of his game! Truly a huge disappointment based on the reviews on open table.
The food is very good but they accept kids for dinner and don't have kids menu at new years eve dinner.
When I made the reservation at book a table and when they called us to confirm, neither one told us anything about that. It was expensive and the kids ate nothing!!
My wife and I visited Orlando for some time away together and we wanted to have a nice dinner to help celebrate our 32nd anniversary. After Googling area restaurants, I was intrigued by Nine18 and it was close to our condo so I used Open Table to book a reservation for dinner on New Year's Eve. I was surprised when we arrived that there was no regular menu available that night, just a pricey prix fixe menu. That's not unusual for NYE, but that was not clear when I made the reservation and quite honestly, we would not have dined there if I had seen it ahead of time. The food was very good, but did not meet the expectation created by the price of $100 per person. The ambiance was great, the restaurant very nicely appointed, and the service met our high expectations of friendliness and professionalism. I would probably give this restaurant a try for nice dinner out on a regular service night.
My husband and I looked for a well-recommended restaurant on Open Table to celebrate our 31st anniversary. We were so pleased to find Nine18. The stand out dish was the Duck Two Ways; perfectly cooked duck breast nestled in a flavorful sauce. We also enjoyed the crab cake and pork belly appetizers. Service was spot on, being attentive but not hovering. The sommelier recommended two wines that complemented our main courses perfectly. We were even treated to a special anniversary surprise to complete our meal. The entire experience left us raving to our friends and neighbors, and has us looking forward to returning soon.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here last week and just love the food, service and setting. It's our third time dinning here and it just gets better. Amazing food and even better deserts. It's easy to get to so close to downtown Disney but without the parking hassles , crowds or overpriced food.
Our server was fantastic, and recommended an amazing wine pairing. Unfortunately, I had higher expectations for the food. The pork belly appetizer was hands down phenomenal, but the scallops were a bit over seasoned and the accompaniments were bland. The lamb was great. I would be willing to give it another try based on the excellent service, wine list, and the pork belly :)
My wife and I are locals. We decided to have a "stay-cation" at the Grand Cypress Villas over a weekend. While there we dined at Nine18 one evenin for dinner. Hands down one of the best dining experiences of our lives. This is saying something as I travel the country for work and eat at prestegious restaurants in various cities often. We made reservations for 7:15pm. There was only one other couple in the dining room - very quiet and romantic. The staff was incredibly attentive. The house wines are amazing - as are some of the other selections available. My wife had an aged steak with a gratan. I enjoyed the scallops with a bur blanc made with Sothern Comfort; sweet and zesty. Price was right too! Great value here.
Everyone was absolutely wonderful. We were there on a Sunday evening. From beginning to end we were well taken care of. The food was excellent. My son who has traveled extensively and dines out quite a lot said it was the best chicken he had ever had in his life. My husband who is hard to please was extremely happy. I would recommempnd this. You could see Disney fireworks from the room. We had the magical dining menu but would go back. Rafael and the entire staff is wonderful. A young man had just moved here from New Jersey was also very pleasant and attentive.
