Visited during restaurant week. The meal was lovely (although we were disappointed the original desert was not available). The portion sizes are not huge here but the quality and preparation are a better (and healthier) tradeoff
Amazing service, very kind staff that goes above and beyond. Great meal - smaller portions as is typical at a higher end restaurant, but still full at the end of the meal. Nice change of pace - unique American style food.
Everything was outstanding, will highly recommend to others!
Staff was available at all times. Enjoying the Restaurant Week special. Entree portions on the small side but acceptable. Flavor and presentation very good.
We are in Pittsburgh for a convention and were lucky enough to find NineonNine at the beginning of the week. Since then, we have taken friends there. Outstanding wait staff. Kind. Helpful. Knowledgeable. The food was fresh and top quality. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. It was quiet enough to be able to easily converse. Highly recommend.
Portions were small for the price. Menu was very confusing. Went for Restaurant Week and did the price fixe option, but in order to to do this, the entire table had to opt in. Food was good. Service and ambiance we're good. Not sure we'd go back.
Great small plates.. ..........................
Kate was awesome so knowledgeable and so caring about each of her tables. Everything she recommended including the wine was spot on. Thank you for a great season end dinner with a dear friend. Keep up the great work
Beautiful, will definitely dine here again
We had dinner before we saw the musical Beauty and the Beast at the Benedum. Our waitress, Kate, was very friendly and took the time to explain the menu to us. The food was delicious.
Please, please let Alexander mix you a cocktail from his crazy imagination. Amazing!
Nice place to eat before the symphony. Smaller plates that are just right instead of the usual overwhelming quantity. Scallops and salmon pleased those who ordered them. I liked the watermelon soup a lot, found the duck confit ravioli too creamy and not ducky enough. Thoughtful and efficient service.
Our food was delicious with a great presentation. Very attentive service. We were able to have a leisurely dinner while still being in and out well before our show.
I brought a relative to this restaurant for the first time. She had duck ravioli. I had the scallops. Both were excellent with a nice presentation. We shared a charcuterie of cheese and meat that was equally tasty and well presented. It was a really nice meal and we were able to be served in a timely fashion to get to the theater.
I plan to return
Great food and Fabulous atmosphere
We had a very enjoyable experience with friends before the CLO last Saturday. Food was very good, service was also very good. Would recommend it as a nice dinner location for a pleasant experience.
Our waitress was phenomenal.
The food was good, for the value. The ambience was very nice. The service was slower than expected and we had to repeatedly ask for assistance, with the drinks, the meals, and with the check.
We all had excellent dinners but I thought mine was Exceptional! I had Fois Grau as an appetizer and it was the Best I have ever had!! Done to perfection! Then I had duck ravioli which was out of this world! One of the best dinners I have ever had!! Thanks! Karen
Pre Benedum Show.
2 blocks down Penn to the theater.
Justin was our waiter. Very good service.
Lamb Chops quite good as in flank steak.
Really like the menu - food is creative but not precious, and there's a nice range of options to accommodate differences in appetites. Our server was fantastic - knowledgeable and genuinely cheerful. We had a great time.
Every menu item required an explanation by the server. Not once did the server stop by our table to ask if we were enjoying our meal or needed anything. She was focused on larger parties. We hailed a table busser, requested spoons and received a puzzled look in return.
We were there at 6:30 to 7:45 on a Fri, so clearly a busy time, however service was a bit slow this evening. We weren't greeted at table for more than 10 minutes and throughout the meal the server was mostly absent. Getting and paying for the check took a while, we eventually just left cash because the waiter didn't come back.
This is not our normal experience here, this was likely a one off event.
Food was quite good, cooked almost perfectly and was quick. We were impressed.
We will be back.
Our server Kate was great and gave helpful suggestions. Menu was exceptional!
Wonderful food and staff; great location downtown.
The menu is creative and on point. Very eclectic but not over the top. And the service was top notch. Kate was exceptional.
Celebrated my wedding anniversary here on Saturday with my husband. This was our first time at the restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately, even though we were early. We were told that we could sit at bar or table. We choose to sit at our table. Our waitress, Kate, helped us with the menu choices. She was fantastic! Helpful and friendly. A delight!!! Cheese plate, salads, breads, cocktails, main entrees and dessert were each so delicious. We left full but pleased with everything.
Hope to go back again soon!
A delicious evening! I had the trout, so moist with delicate flavors. My husband had the heirloom tomato salad, with ranch popcorn, he thought it was amazing. He raved about the scallops with a corn pudding. WE shared a lemon tart for dessert! a wonderful and light meal. We ordered the Brussel sprouts to share and they never arrived, but everything else was sooo good!
The menu is presented in an unique format, not separated by apps or salads vs main courses. Although our waiter explained it, I still thought it unusual to have a risotto and a zucchini dish arrive with apps. But we shared everything and all plates were delicious! Our main courses took a while to arrive. Two of us ordered scallops and they arrived cold. Our waiter did not check back with us so we did not have the option of getting hot scallops. Since neither of us ate them, the cost was taken off our bill. It was an acceptable solution, but we would have rather eaten dinner. I'd still go back -- it was delicious food and very convenient to the Benedum.
Great food and exceptional service. Kate, our server, was outstanding. We truly enjoyed our meal.
Restaurant was nearly empty and service was inattentive. My date got lamb lollipops and I got Tomahawk Pork Chop that had been highly touted. Both cuts of meat were of quality and tender but NON ruined both. Sauce on lamb was terrible and chop was salty to the point of being inedible. Mushroom risotto was excellent
Went here before theater. Only couple blocks to Benedum.
Justin was waiter. Very good job.
Had scallop entry very nice.
Also the tomato app was excellent.
Had a great dinner. Will definitely go back to try some other dishes. Best octopus ever. Fun sharing.
Food is good but somewhat overpriced. Menu set up by land, meat and fish so hard to tell how big the portion is except by price but that is not always a reliable indicator.
Outstanding service and the food prep was excellent. Highly recommend the Tomahawk Brined Berkshire Pork Chop. Most restaurants have terrible cutlery. The type that “saws” through the selected meats. Nine on Nine has the French “Bee” style serrated knives that sliced cleanly through the chop. NO tearing whatsoever. Finally a culinary team that understands the importance of the cutlery!
Welcomed and promptly seated. Were offered water but help wanted to serve 3 small bottles sparkling water rather than offer large bottle for table. Server was slow taking drink orders and more absent than present during meal. Had to ask someone else for bottle of wine". Food was hit or miss. Menu is not organized as appetizers, entrees, sides but as "garden, land, and sea." Within each you have to figure out what's an appetizer or entree. Some menu items are misleading. Duck Confit Ravioli is a single, massive raviolo. Not very appealing and certainly not ravioli. Lamb Lollipops were not Frenched so not lollipops. Also, gristly and fatty. Seared Octopus Martini was delicious but too oily in the martini. Filet Mignon Tournedos were very good. Plating is bizarre with plates that are too large for the portions, which are lost.
This was my first time dining and I was very pleased! The food was excellent and our servers were very knowledgeable.
The food and service were fantastic! Shorty was great - good recommendations. I loved the ambiance! Will definitely go back!!!
The fish tacos were excellent. They were generous with the fish and reasonably priced. The waitstaff was very accommodating and provided excellent service. The location is very convenient if you have plans to see a show at the Benedum.
Great drinks... everything was amazing from the bread on!!! We shared the Fois Gras, Bone Marrow, Scallops and Duck Ravioli... everything was cooked wonderfully and the flavor combinations were perfect!!! An excellent restaurant and a must try when in Pitt...
