Nikolai's Roof Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant itself was very good food and service once we got there. the food was well prepared and everything was delivered at an enjoyable pace. The service from the moment we walked into the restaurant to when we left it was very friendly. They provided a special, complimentary dessert since it was our anniversary. The cocktail menu was not very imaginative, so we stuck with wine to start with and then a very nice bottle with dinner.
The experience getting to the restaurant and leaving could not have been more a polar opposite. The Hilton's valet service is the worst that I have ever experienced- very unorganized and ridiculously slow. This aspect was so bad that we have decided we will not be returning to Nickolai's in spite an enjoyable meal and view upstairs. When spending this amount you expect a pleasant experience from beginning to end and that wasn't the case.
The view of the Atlanta skyline will let the guest feel something is special about the space. The service is dignified allowing plenty of time to sit and enjoy the food as well as the view. The attention to detail over the food created an art worthy presentation, equaled by the taste. Others will try unique combinations and make a mess of it. Nikolai's Roof composed the delightful blend that marks a great restaurant.
The views are spectacular, the food was very good and the staff was attentive. It was a lovely evening. I was unaware when we booked that they offer three, four or five course dining options at a fixed price but it worked out fine. Appetizers were fresh and tasty. The fillet I ordered could have been a little larger but was delicious. All desserts were yummy. I recommend and would go back.
For an expensive restaurant with such a great view and nice ambiance, it was a huge disappointment. Our waiter was not at all interested in taking care of his customers. He never once refilled our water glasses and it took 15 minutes to get a martini. The restaurant was not crowded at all. Once he delivered our food, we had to flag him down several tines to get drink refills.
Our first dinner at Nikolai's Roof was 36 years ago for our 1st anniversary. We came back a number of times over the years. Our last time was about 12 years ago. On that occasion, and only that occasion, we felt the menu had become a bit too esoteric, and not the same quality we had remembered. As a result we were hesitant to return.
But return we did on January 10th, 2018 for our 37th anniversary. And it was excellent! The food, the service, all exquisite! The look has been updated and the way they now charge for the meals is now a bit more "customary" (howbeit seemingly somewhat more affordable), but the quality is every bit what is was 36 years ago. The only thing missing is the attendants they used to have in the rest rooms which, frankly, I always thought was somewhat weird anyway.
Thank you Nikolai's Roof, and our waiters Vassil and Demetri. You guy did a terrific job! We will be back!
Nikolai's Roof did not disappoint for our date night. The city views are breathtaking; however, much of the skyline view is not seen from the main dining area given the side of the building it's on. That said, the view from the 30th floor was still quite amazing. The food and service is what you would expect for the price point. My girlfriend and I both enjoyed an appetizer, the sea bass, and a glass of wine. Total bill for the evening (with tip) came to about $150. Parking was also validated.
Wonderful evening and our server (Dimitri) was on point and attentive all night. Really made us feel special. The food was truly top notch and the chef achieved excellence despite being short staffed.
I will say that the greeter ignored us when we first walked in for a few minutes, because he was on the phone. Not even a hand gesture or a look despite us standing in the waiting area directly in front of him.
This is a great place for a reasonably priced fine dining experience, particularly for a date night or special celebration. Favorites were the crab, sweet potato, and coconut bisque as well as the the creme brulee. Service was outstanding. Would definitely return in the future.
Had the best dining experience ever at your establishment! Food was excellent as well as the service was impeccable! The most memorable night ever as I proposed to my soon to be wife! Definitely looking forward to returning for our 1 year anniversary! Thank you!
From the start to end, Nikolai's Roof is awful.
The restaurant is located at the top of the Hilton. My husband and I arrived and were confronted by the valet attendant (Nahome). He initially said that there was "no room" for our car, even when we explained that we were here for the restaurant. Then he walked into the lobby and back out (30 seconds) then magically there was room. Very strange and disconcerting. It was a foreshadowing of how awful this experience was going to be.
I booked Nikolai's Roof for my husband's birthday specifically because they have a view of his favorite building. I put a special note in our reservation that it was 1.) my husband's birthday and 2.) that we would like a table with a view of the specific building. My note was obviously not read. Why pay for a service that you are not going to use? If you are going to ignore or be so ignorant to not read guests' special requests then get off OpenTable.
When we asked the host about the valet situation, because we wanted reassurance about the safety of our car, he did everything but that. In fact, he actually made it worse and we almost left. The host was rude and made us feel like we were wasting his time when we were inquiring about the establishment he is representing.
We did arrive on time for our reservation, but did not receive our drinks till 20mins after we were sat. This was the pace for the entire evening, just terrible coursing.
The food is mediocre. We choose the 5 course menu, and nothing stood out. It was all just OK. For the price, the vegetables should be fresh, my beef tenderloin should have been cooked to the right temperature, and the dessert should not taste of freezer burn.
Nikolai's Roof is a perfect example of a tired restaurant that is staffed by bumbling idiots who do not take pride in their workplace. Do better.
Great atmosphere, excellent food and service. Wonderful and varied wine selections. The view is fantastic and the ambiance encourages intimate conversation and dining. Very attentive staff without being intrusive. Highly recommend Nikolai’s for special occasions, casual dining and business dinners. There is a warmth and caring attitude that is impossible to find anywhere else.
This Atlanta oldie is still top of the line with elegance and quiet, competent service. The complimentary valet parking makes this in- hotel location accessible for locals. Renovated decor is pleasant and understated. The unique menu offers variety and our choices were delicious and light. Even after the very melt in your mouth Gran Marnier soufflé we did not feel that we over ate. Loved the three course pricing. Atlantans should return to this old friend to remind themselves of what the term “fine dining” means.
We recently visited as part of our 21st wedding anniversary. We informed the restaurant a few weeks in advanced that it was our anniversary and they obviously made note because we were wished "Vashe zrodovye" (To your health) and given a complimentary dessert with candle. It made the occasion that much more special and we will never forget it! It goes to show that even little things can make a huge impression. Yes, the food was incredible but it's the finer touches (and the view) that sets Nikolai's Roof apart from other restaurants with great food.
Worst meal I’ve had in years. Lamb and Brest of duck tough not eatable and no flavor my sweet potato bisk good. Salmon bad. Deserts ok. It took 2.5 hours to get the three course served. This Resturant was fantastic years ago. Too bad. We will never go again
All my food was prepared correctly with the exception of the lamb. I was not impressed with the food although the service and people there are wonderful. My lamb was cooked rare when I ordered it medium. It wasn't even close to medium and this could be easily seen as they were cut into lamb chops. Add to the fact that it then came out cold and it was uneatable. If I am dropping two Benjamin's at your restaurant, I can have my lamb the way I want it, without some pompous Chef cooking it the way he thinks I should eat it.
I didn't complain, I just had them box it up and I took it home and had it for lunch the next day...I prepared it medium since it was still rare.
We went to celebrate a birthday. Arrived early, were seated early and well taken care of. Our server, Manuela, was awesome. Provided excellent suggestions and information about the foods. The food was exceptional, flavorful and creative. Overall we found Nikolai's to be very accommodating and a perfectly romantic Atlanta skyline setting.
Through and through a wonderful experience! Vessie was an impeccable server and was very knowledgeable about all the food we ordered. Scallops are a MUST! Brussels sprouts, lamb, loupe de mer, and the grand marnier souffle.. it was all delightful. Thankyou Nikolai's roof! We will most certainly be back ❤️
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed I experience at Nikolai's Roof. The ambience was great and the food and service was excellent. I really enjoy the view that we had of the city and based on the time of time (after 7 pm) we really had a good night view of the city.
The Braised Beef Piroshki served at the beginning of the meal really set to the tone. The puff pastry was very crisp and beef was excellent. I would highly recommend this!
Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive to all our needs. He even provided a anniversary presentation at the end of our meal. I would highly recommend everyone eating at your restaurant based on the things I mentioned above.
A little pricey but but you should know that going in. You leave happy and not worried about the cost because the service was superior, the wine list was interesting and the food is fabulous. Go for the caviar. If the cost troubles you get one serving and share. There is plenty for 3 or maybe 4. The next time I am in Atlanta I will try to go again. You must plan ahead because there are only 22 tables if I counted correctly.
We had a romantic evening where we enjoyed the fixed menu that included a delicious appetizer, wonderfully tasty salmon, and a luscious dessert. Each course came freshly prepared at a relaxed pace. We had window seating and the view was outstanding. The live guitarist softly playing contemporary tunes added to our lovely evening.
