Nikolai's Roof Ratings and Reviews
Great view, service was great, just not what we expected from last time. The previous time we went there, Bill gave us the best service we have ever had in our lives, however neither of us felt the same way with this waiter. Good, but not great. The food was some of the best in Atlanta, however once again the lamb and souffle didn't even compare to the last visit. Overall, I hope they change my mind next time, because if it hadn't been for such a great view of the city, my girlfriend and I would have been disappointed for a $300 meal.
An increase in the number of wait staff is needed in order to provide a level of service that is commensurate to the prices charged at this restaurant. The food is ok, but defintely not comparable to the price you will pay. In its heyday, it was one of the grand dames of fine dining in Atlanta. Now it is outshined in terms of service and food quality by many other restaurants Atlanta. The only outstanding aspects of this restaurant are the view and the iced vodka. So, skip this outdated relic and dine at Park 75 at the Four Seasons, Bacchanalia, or Restaurant Eugene.
Upon entering the restaurant I was a little unsure, but after awile I was totally relaxed. Personell were helpful and friendly. Everyone in my party was very satisfied. The roast lamb tasted delicious. Overall the dining experience met my expectation. I will come back. Thank you. FD.
This was a nice place but a bit too fancy for us. The food although good, wasn't as good as great asI would have expected for the price. You pay for the experience at Nikolai's so if you enjoy being serviced by white gloved waiters who speak very softly and who are not trying to make any small talk then you would enjoy this place. Great view if you sit on the North side of the establistment and it is romantic but it is not on my top 10 list.
WE TOOK OUR SON TO NIKOLAI'S ROOF FOR HIS RETIREMENT DINNER..FROM THE START IT WAS GREAT, WE WERE GREETED BY THE VALET GREETER, WHO TOLD US TO LEAVE OUR CAR AND IT WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF..THEN HE LEAD US TO THE SPECIAL ELEVATOR!! WHAT SERVICE...WE HAD A LOVELY VIEW, AND A WONDERFUL SERVER, HE WAS THERE BUT NOT IN THE WAY OF OUR CONVERSATION..WE HAD THE 4 COURSE MENU SELECTION, EVERYTING WAS DELICIOUS, AND WITH A LOVELY PRESENTATION..AFTER OUR DESSERT, OUR SON WAS PRESENTED WITH A SPECIAL DESSERT SAYING "CONGRATULATIONS" THAT WAS A SPECAIL ADDED SURPRISE..OUR SERVER TOLD US OUR CAR WOULD BE READY WHEN WE GOT DOWNSTAIRS AS HE WAS CALLING IT IN..GREAT, WONDERUFUL EVENING..EVERYONE THANKED US FOR COMING..LOOKING FORWARD TO GOING BACK...
The portions were small and very overpriced. The individual glass wine list was POOR. I did not look at their by the bottle wine list, as I was alone. Ordering a full bottle of wine with each course would be absurd.
They offer a chef's tasters menu. I expected appropriate wine pairings with each course. This was not the case.
I would not go there again and I would not recommend it.
I had not been to Nikolai's Roof in over 15 years. The quality of the food is much less than what it had been previously and the meal was much overpriced. We ate at Wisteria the next night, paid 1/3 of the cost of Nikolai's and the food was 100X better. I will not be returning to Nikolai's Roof.
I brought my wife to Nikolai's Roof for her Birthday. She wanted something different and special. Nikolai's was exactly that. Our table was awaiting when we arrived. The service was great. I had the salmon. I'm very picky about salmon. May restaurants overcooked it. Mine was great.
Only problem, and for my wife I'd do anything, but, it was over $200.00 for two of us. This is for a VERY special occasion.
My husband and I went to Nikolai's Roof for our 25th anniversary. I called ahead for a romantic table with a view and was rewarded with an amazing view of the Atlanta skyline. Our waiter, Bill, was attentive and took care of us throughout the evening. The manager, Daniel, was also knowledgeable in helping us choose the right wine. Altogether, it was a perfect evening!
My wife and I used to go to Nikolai's roof years ago when it was always hard to get a table there as it was very busy. This time we went on our anniversay night on a Tursday and the place was almost empty. Only another couple and a single guy in the whole dining room. The decr and ambiance is stuck in the past century and they really need to upgrade it. Outstanding service as in the past and great food.
We came to Nikolai's Roof for a Romantic Birthday dinner and were so happy with our experience. The ambiance was romantic, quiet, and beautful. Our server was friendly, efficient, and knowledgable. The food was spectacular, prompt, and ellegantly served. Without even realizing is 3 hours went by and we enjoyed every moment of it!
I went here for prom and it was BEST THING EVER !!! The employees that worked there were very attentive(plus they all had accents
which was a bonus for me :) lol) The food looked like it came out of a gourmet cookbook, and it was sooooo delicious. Probably going to come back after graduation lol
It was our 20th anniversary and I wrote ahead to let them know. The food was good, the view was great. The problem was that it was me and my wife and two other couples there. I hate to say it but the waiter was terrible. We asked him to recommend a white wine, he told us they didn't have white wine, they do have a white wine list. During our dinner we ordered a bottle I had to get up and refill our glasses. He also had no clue about the menu. With just two other couples in the restaurant, and it being our 20th annv. I would have expected a little better service. This was our special occasion.
This was our first time to Nikolai's Roof. We had been wanting to go for years, but aren't in Atlanta that often and have not thought ahead. Our entire family went, including our 9 and 15 year old sons. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was fantastic, not cheap but we knew that. The restaurant has a really nice view and a great ambience. I would not necessarily say this is a kid friendly place, as unruly kids would be unappreciated by those there. However, we have taken our kids often to places like this and they know what is expected of them in this environment. Hence, I would not hesitate to take them again, and they would love to return. The service was excellent. My only criticism is more Russian.
For 30 years my husband had wanted to go to Nikolai's Roof. We now live near Altanta so I planned a weekend birthday getaway. Our experience was not over the top which we expected. We were not very impressed with the food or service. The food left us wanting something else special. We had the four course dinner. The two appetizers were the only outstanding items on the menu. The lamb was OK but not flavorful and the the desserts were disappointing. The view was fabulous. We've been, we've see but we won't be back.
From beginning to finish..a Marvelous Experience. Hadnt been here for 30+yrs. Why did we wait so long? Emil, our server was par excellence in vodka as well as gourmet taste recommendations and patience as we made requests and he did not miss out on anything. The foie gras was incredible and the piroshi were delightful. We also enjoyed the rack of lamb and venison tenderloin..ample portions with some left to enjoy later as appetizers at home. Pricing was just right for the ambience, great food, and superb service. Daniel was also a most welcoming Maitre'd! Many patrons arrived after we did and the noise level was never obtrusive.
Not the five star restaurant it used to be. The food was good but not excellent. The ambiance has suffered greatly. Service was above average but slightly more intrusive and less professional. As space for a room number appeared on the bill, it appears Nikolai's is no longer private, but owned by Hilton. That would explain the apparent cost-cutting in ambiance and quality. It seems we were not the only ones to notice the decline, as there were lots of empty tables during 7-9 on a Saturday night.
Another awesome meal at one of our favorite restaurants. The service was excellent, the flavors and presentation were delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our 20th anniversary with a memorable menu, pleasant ambiance and my bride. Kudos, again, Nikolai's Roof for delivering on the promise of your status.
