We had the 10pm seating and it obvious from the get that the staff was annoyed that we actually showed up. Our waitress did not make eye contact with me until she dropped my fork and then basically crawled under my dress to find it despite my insistence that she just let it go.
Food wasn’t terrible but it was mundane and overpriced.
This reservation was based off yelp reviews but I was totally disappointed.
Hubby had the duck. I had the beef tenderloin. The portions were large but size has nothing to do with boring food. My hericot vers were raw and difficult to chew. The tenderloin was cooked to request, medium rare, but there was no seasoning to speak of.
Great food! Beautiful view! The servers are so nice and attentive.
Fabulous roof top bar and restaurant with views of downtown Atlanta. Crafted cocktails were expertly prepared. We were expecting a more Russian influence on the food. Our waitress said no and we did not find a nod to Russian cuisine on our plates. That being said, food was quality, nicely presented and expertly prepared. The dish that did not meet expectations was the escargot toast. The toast selected could not be cut with a steak knife or broken apart. The extra hard bread absorbed the butter & garlic so quickly that it left the escargot a little dryer than a traditional French presentation. We will return, just not for the escargot toast.
The place is Very upscale and the scenic view just what you’ll want on a date with your partner. Unlike most upscale restaurants the food was really good and the price is affordable for those on budget. I’ll reccommend this to anyone looking to awe their patner and have good food also.
This was our first visit and we really enjoyed ourselves. As you might expect, the views were great.
What was unexpected is that the food was tasty, well prepared and presented. The portions were not overly generous but more than satisfying. Sometimes restaraunts with food venues ease back on the food; not the case here.
I also want to give a shout-out to the bartender, she crafted really nice cocktails, especially the dirty martinis.
Our host was the absolutely the best. He honored our reservation request for a window table. This added to our wait time by about 15 minutes but we enjoyed a cocktail ( see above) in the lounge. (At the time we were there tje lounge was quiet and relaxing). Our host skillfully navigated us from entry, to lounge, to dinner, no fuss-no muss.
Our server was also top notch and worked with us to ensure our orders were just right. She was attentive but not to the point of being a distraction.
Even the car valet was great, this was an atypical night, the hotel parking /valet was packed but he greeted and treated with warmth and good humor.
All in all a very pleasant experience.
Our server Manuela was awesome she was very engaged and even put in a special treat for our celebration. Her service and energy was awesome. Thank you Manuela! Food was also really good, flavor was wonderful portions were small but delicious.
Overall experience was wonderful. Nice view and ambiance, perfect for a special night. Though it is to be expected with fine dining, the portions still seemed small.
We were a little disappointed. The service seemed forced, not the welcoming service you expect in a high dollar fine dining establishment. We ordered cocktails to start and a bottle of wine that we wanted with the main course. When the food came, no wine. We had to ask twice, my steak was half eaten by the time it came and it had already been corked. The food was very good but definitely not “prime”.
Great romantic spot with unbelievable service and food!
This place isn't cheap, but everything about it is exceptional. The view of the city, the food and the impressive wine list, and the service staff. They had that knack for never being there until the moment you needed them, and they could explain every menu item in intricate detail. I went with the chef's suggested three course meal ($44), and there wasn't one morsel that didn't taste worth every penny. It was our 25th anniversary, and they thoughtfully brought out a dessert "on the house" that was practically a work of art. I can't wait for the next excuse to go there!
Food was great, service was awful. Would not return.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Nikolai's Roof. We chose this restaurant for our 4th wedding anniversary, and it was a great pick! We requested and got a window seat, so that we could have dinner while enjoying the view of the Atlanta skyline. We decided to go with the chef's 4-course menu. This included 2 appetizers, an entree, and dessert. The food was slightly salty, but not so salty that the natural flavor of the ingredients couldn't come through. Each course was full of flavor and texture. We weren't able to finish our dessert because we were so full off of the bread rolls and excellent cocktails. I would recommend Nikolai's Roof for a romantic dinner or a birthday dinner. I will definitely be returning.
Menu of several prix fixe and a la carte options was very good as was the food. Wine menu could be a wider range of moderate prices and the wine we ordered could not be found or wasn't available. The substitute the server recommended was not good. Service was just fair with a mix up in dishes, not knowing which was the rare and which was the medium. Cocktails were excellent as was the ambience and 30th floor view of Atlanta.
Very Nice experience!
Very disappointing. Used to be one of our favorites. Now it’s just an overpriced restaurant. Waitstaff dressed very sloppy. Food mediocre. It no longer revolves. Will not go back and definitely do not recommend it. Evidently they did a very tacky renovation a couple years ago.
Our waiter really put a damper on our evening. He wasn't attentive at all - we had to wait forever to give our order, he came around with our bottle of wine and when he realized he needed to change the glasses to fit the type of wine we ordered, he was MIA for the next 5 minutes and this was the theme throughout the night. He barely spoke to us and would gesture for us to move out the way when he wanted to collect plates. It was a very special night for us and the waiters attitude really messed up the environment for us.
Great night view of the city. The food was great. Every plate we got were very nicely plated. The appetizers we ordered came out on a separate dishes for my date and me when we told our server that we are sharing the appetizers. The server asked us if our dinner was for any special occasion. I told her it was our anniversary. The server brought us a little ice cream pie at the end, which was a pleasant surprise. I definitely recommend this place! Oh, one little note is that you have to climb up a few stairs for the restroom. I don't know if they have an elevators for anyone who has difficulty with walking up and down the stairs.
A hidden treasure, and the view was almost as spectacular as the service and the food.
We enjoyed the view and our evening. The service was very good. However, the food was well below my expectations. The food quality suffered across the board from the dinners rolls being stale to vegetables being too salty to enjoy.
Great views, great food, great drinks. Scott is the man!
Enjoyed an exceptional dinner with friends during recent business conference at the Hilton. Superb view, excellent waiter-Scott, and the Chef's special was exquisite! We enjoyed drinks with friends in the lounge afterward, which was also very relaxing. Perfect evening at Nikolai's!
Great experience. Let us change the reservation from 4 to 2 plus high chair at last minute. The lamb chops were unbelievable. The beef pirogi were more of a pastry but excellent. Soufflé dessert outstanding. Duck entree was decent. Flavored vodkas excellent. Get the lamb chops and vodka. Seemed expensive but Nice rooftop view in downtown Atlanta- may be par for the area.
Came here as this was rated as number 1 on trip advisor.
Definitely no where near that.
Lower expectations and you may actually enjoy this place.
Much smaller then pics. Host tried to sit us in corner.
Server was good. Rushed our meal a bit.
Food good but nothing to brag about.
Won’t be coming here again.
Sundial significantly better when dining in downtown.
It was amazing!!! Took my mom there for her birthday and we loved every second of the experience.
The quality and presentation of the food is second only to the quality of service! Nikolai's always makes you feel special/important. Having dined from NYC, DC, Seattle to Paris, Ireland, there are some equal and none better.
Been to Nikolai's many times and I was somewhat disappointed this time. The food was mostly good. The service was less than what we were used to and service makes a huge difference. We had a lovely evening anyway. However, there are many good restaurants in Atlanta and I think I'd go somewhere else next time.
We chose to have our anniversary dinner here again and as always, it was wonderful. The food is amazing and the service superb! Vassil waited on us and remembered us from the last time we were there. He made it even more special!
Amazing view of Atlanta. The bar area is nice teven fro groups. Plenty of space. The staff is always nice. Our sever was top
Nikolai's never disappoints. The food is outstanding, the ambiance upscale without being stuffy and the view unparalleled. We have been there annually for our anniversary for the past 25 years and will continue to return indefinitely. The lime marinated vodka is not to be missed and the wine list can satisfy any taste at reasonable prices. If you have a special occasion, try this venue.
Anniversary dinner. Hostess said it would 15 more min past our reservation time before our table was ready. Waiter was nice but once he saw we were not ordering one of the course meals he seemed to loose interest after that. Food was super small portions which was expected. Overall I would try another sky top dining experience.
The food was fantastic from beginning to end. Our server was not on par with the quality of the dishes.
We had a great experience! It was perfect for our business meal. Food was excellent as well.
I have heard of Nickolai's for years. Finally had an opportunity to go and it did not live up to the hype. The dining room was hot, (A/C issue?) and overall the food was fine albeit a bit salty. Dimitri was a good server. But in the end, it was nothing more than an expensive hotel restaurant that was not unique in any way.
11 year anniversary dinner with my wife started out great.
Greeted warmly by host, we arrived early and walked around the excellent view the bar area provides.
No nasty looks or reprimands for bringing our 3 month old son (who never made a fuss thank goodness).
Dinner was very delicious. The food and wine had great flavors throughout. Beef pastry was wonderful, crab cake with pineapple was very good, and duck breast was delicious.
Only down side to me was the dessert, “chocolate bar”had great flavor but the raspberry sorbet served with it fell flat. Very sweet but had little flavor to stand up next to the rich chocolate it was plated with. I really liked the “chocolate bar” though. It didn’t need anything else.
Server was warm and great over all. She did forget to bring back our leftovers even while we sat another 10 after paying. Not a huge deal but still frustrating for how much pasta my wife had left to eat the next day.
We’d gladly come back and enjoyed our experience.
Went there for my birthday. The food was outstanding, and the entire meal from beginning to end was more than capably managed by Dimitri. He performed in the grand tradition of European waiters with professional presence and gracious engagement, including humor. With the exception of a noisy table that required us to move to another table, the dining experience was the best we have had since dining at Sarment d'Or in Riquewhir in Alsace Loraine in 2014. Wonderful. Thank you.
Our waiter was very attentive. I asked for a nice view for the love of my life’s birthday and we got exactly what we asked for. The food is awesome, we both decided to do their 3-course meal. I ordered the escargot toast/tenderloin/grand marnier soufflé. My SO ordered pork loin/garganelli pasta/strawberry creme brulee. Every course was awesome. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone.
It was wonderful for our 30th wedding anniversary. The food was absolutely delicious!!!
Girl friends birthday, And I was proposing that night. The food was ok , the mood was nice. But the waiter had B.O. and the service was a little slow. But all in all we had a nice evening.
Authentic French and Russian cusine with a panaramic view of the Atlanta skyline.
