I was a solo diner with my laptop preparing for a meeting tomorrow morning. Scott, my server, was attentive and helpful - and the food was delicious. But the maitre’ d stopped by all tables with 2 or more guests to check on them, yet he walked right by my table - more than once without acknowledging me as a patron. I almost said something to him on the way out. More and more executive women who are foodies want great food and wine when they are traveling alone - how could he not know that in 2018?!
My birthday was March 17 at 9 was sitting on time no long wait our watriess Marcella was the bomb very nice check on my party of four at all times never did I had to ask her for anything great service food was amazing we did 3 coures enjoy every bit of everything my family enjoy thereself as well will returning and tell family & friends... THANKS FOR WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY DINNER ..
Definitely was worth every dollar. Super awesome venue.
I took my wife for her birthday. We had a fixe price 4-course meal with wine. Everything was great. Very Attentive service. Nice quiet atmosphere. All the courses were excellent. We had dinner around 6 pm which is a little earlier than most but we enjoyed watching the sun set during the meal.
Terrific service by Daniel and Scot. One dish was not want we expected and they replaced it promptly and professionally. Thank you gentlemen!
The only real drag was the service, which was mediocre at best. It was not a busy night, so no special reason for the lack of attentiveness and warmth.
Me and my wife enjoyed our 15th Anniversary here! Beautiful place beautiful view A1 service the food was amazing! I recommend this place to anyone! ❤️
Every single dish that we ordered was outstanding. We started with a risotto and braised beef piroshki, then have the lamb and duck as our entree, and finished off with the creme brulee and Banana Foster. Every single dish was outstanding and the service was superb. They were even kind enough to give me A Slice of Cheesecake on the house for my birthday.
We were hoping for Russian cuisine, but it’s a French menu. We ordered two seafood plates as our starters (crab cake & the scallops) because that’s what we were in the mood for. The seafood plates were delicious, but the crab cake portion is about the size of a silver dollar. Didn’t make much of a difference to us since it was a starter, but wouldn’t be much of a meal. We ordered the beef tenderloin and the duck as our meal and we were both Extreamly Disappointed with how both of our meats were cooked. The beef tenderloin was ordered rare & came out medium & charred. The duck was ordered rare to med-rare and came out well-done. Both were over cooked even thought we both specified we did Not want with mean over cooked. Neither of us took more than one bite of either dish. Our waiter never asked how we liked it even though we didn’t touch it & we didn’t complain because for the price we shouldnt have to. They did offer to box it up and when we got home we fed both the tenderloin and duck to our dogs. The view was nice however & the wine selection was alright. We will not be going back. It was an unfortunate disappointment for both of us. We heard great things from friends and drove 30 minutes from Buckhead to give it a try. For the price of each plate we shouldn’t have to be bothered with sending plates back when over cooked. The dogs seemed to enjoy the dog bag we brought home for them though, so I guess not a total loss.
I was very disappointed. I traveled from Warner Robins GA to celebrate 13 years of marriage. Our last visit was in 2007 and it was quiet, low light and very upscale. There were 3 large parties, we had to wait 20 minutes after our scheduled reservation time and sat in the middle of two parties. They were loud and obnoxiously drunk.
My lamb chops were way too small for the price, under cooked. I just thought it would be better for a $200 meal.

The place is very elegant and the service is supreme. We had a great night with my wife doing the 5 course menu, interesting flavors with beautiful presentation.
Our server was very attentive from beginning to end.
Attentive service; creative menu; great view; 5 stars to the bartender!
Lovely atmosphere and very delicious cuisine! Our anniversary celebration was extremely memorable.
Great food, service and views. Some reviews said limited food selections but we did not find that to be the case. Beef tenderloin was the best. Vassil provided us with great service.
Love this place. Will definitely come back for more. Great birthday dinner.
Well this is a first as I have fined at Nikolai’s Roof many times over the last twenty years. This was the first subpar experience I have ever had. Everything went well through the first two or three courses, then the wheel fell off. The main courses case, I had the lamb chops and the wife had beef. Mine was almost cold, and both our dishes were tough to cut! Seriously a major drop in quality from the five star dining experience we all have had for years! The final straw was AFTER we finished our desserts, coffee and received the check, the waiter brings ANOTHER dessert “for my birthday”, which is why we were there in the first place. We were so confused and disappointed that I am not sure that we will ever go back! Too bad, it looks like with the remodel from last year, they may have destroyed everything that made Nikolai’s Roof the Shiny Diamond it once was!
Adult, somewhat old school, fine dining. And I mean that in a very positive way. Service was very professional. Enjoyed the view of Atlanta from my table. Thought the foie gras appetizer was excellent. Thought highly of the lamb chops as well. Cocktail and wine were both solid. Would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or big date.
We had a wonderful experience from the windowside table with a fabulous view of the lit Bank of America building to the Atlanta night sky. Food was amazing. The fois gras was fabulous, and the Grand Marnier Soufle was an exquisite end to our meal. 3 course price fixe was a good value for a high end dinner. Great gourmet dinner in a lovely setting with great views. Good for any occasion or no occasion. Enjoy.
We celebrated our 15th anniversary and it was a charming and romantic restaurant to do so. The food was great and the service outstanding.
Great view of the city. Rated very high by others but I thought it was average at best for a high end restaurant. We have eaten at some very nice places though. Scallops were too salty. Beef Filet was bland at best. Sauces that went with the entrees were excellent. The mixture of the 2 brought up the taste. Portions too small compared to other high end restaurants. Desserts were very good but portions were way too small. Very small appetizers. The 1 crab cake appetizer was half dollar size with over 50% breading. Average at best. We very visiting from out of town.
Though we are lifelong Georgia residents, and have lived in Atlanta most of our lives, my husband had never been to Nikolai's and I had not been in over 20 years. We were unexpectedly in town for our anniversary and decided to go "old school." The good part of the evening was the food. Everything was quite good and the seasoning was especially spot-on. It was expensive, but we knew that going in. The problem was the service. Our server, Scott, was not bad, but he did not engage with us and seemed to have no interest in making our experience memorable. And that, for me, is the difference between fine dining and simply dining out. No matter how good the food, mediocre service placed this firmly in the "hotel restaurant to which we will not return" category. Atlanta has too many restaurants where the service equals or surpasses the food and that is where we'll spend our money.
We celebrated my son's 19th birthday at Nikolai's Roof, and it was an unforgettable experience, from the restaurant setting to the service to the food, even the coffee at the end of our meal was just memorable!
And we were so appreciative of staff accommodating one of our guests with food allergies, the attention to detail was just astounding. They did not miss a beat.
We rate this restaurant as one of the top three we have ever dined at here and abroad.
The view really just cannot be beat. Great wine list and cocktails. Impeccable service. This is not the best food though in the city--if you're a 'foodie', you may be disappointed. It's really not comparable to Restaurant Eugene or Bacchanalia in terms of food; however, the ambience is worth a visit and you won't be disappointed in their level of service.
The food we had was very good, but the menu is VERY limited. I rarely eat beef, but had no choice. No salads to offer, no basic entree such as salmon, or anything else for people who don't want exotic type food, I would have had the pasta but could not get Gluten free. Maybe the cuisine was a little too creative for people who have a limited diet. We all had the beef which was delicious. Desserts were amazing!!
We try fine dining restaurants in Atlanta once a while but this place was disappointing. The scallops were loaded with SALT and none of entrees were memorable. Everything was just average- service, ambience and food.
Place has been around forever but still very good, a little Russian still but mostly French. Redecorated since I last went (may have been 10 years now) and is much lighter in decor- can't decide if better or not but regardless still very nice. Great views still of course. Good service and they still wear the Russian-looking uniforms. Service not as personal as I remember though, probably only (very minor) downside. Food was absolutely excellent, unbeatable, and the 3-course meal for $64 is even a pretty good- very good in fact considering the food quality.
Great atmosphere. Great service. Good food. Great date spot for a night out in the city.
Our server Dimitry was outstanding. Overall my wife and I had a great time.
The food was absolutely delicious and unique. It was quite fancy. Amazing, amazing, really. Our server Vassel was excellent!!!
This was a great experience, but I wish we not limited to the pre-fixed menu. I would definitely say it was a 'food-journey' that my husband and I enjoyed, but would of rather been able to order off the full menu.
Great food and service.
Early valentine day dinner
Beautiful view as well lovely ambience. Would definitely recommend for couples
Shoot up a glass elevator with amazing city views and arrive at Nikolai's Roof. The ambiance, menu and service was impressive. One of our favorite parts of the evening was the cheese trolley service. We were able to select amongst several goat and cow cheese options imported from Europe.
The restaurant is conducive to a romantic evening with perfect lighting and quite noise levels.
We very much enjoyed our meal, the drinks and service. The food was cooked perfectly and the service couldn’t have been any better. We went for a special occasion and we appreciate them for recognizing it. We will definitely be back.
While the food was very good the overall experience was not. Our server was absent minded, we were served the wrong food and the valet was one of the worst I've experienced. The dining area is lovely with great views and the menu interesting but the several mishaps by our server diminished the enjoyment. As for the valet, plan on self parking since it took us almost a half hour for our vehicle to arrive after repeated prompts to the staff.
We celebrated my parents 60th anniversary here and were not disappointed. The menu was creative and delicious. We had a very special evening topped off with flavored vodkas. Dmitri was an attentive waiter and the management made my parents feel special.
Great view, great food. This is a real restaurant with real ingredients and people that care to serve a great meal. Highly recommended
