It was simply awesome . Staff was friendly and courteous. Food was served on a timely manner.
We had an incredible meal here. The atmosphere was romantic (low, soft lighting and music), albeit a little noisier than I thought it would be, so sometimes I felt like I was yelling a bit. Our waitress Manuela, as well as the rest of the waitstaff, was knowledgeable and attentive. The food was delicious and left us very full despite the smaller portions. We chose to do the 4-course meal fearing that the 3-course would not be enough, but we were stuffed! The only part of the meal that was not great was the cheese board. I don’t feel that the diversity of cheeses, nor the accompaniments, was up to par for this caliber of restaurant. The prices were also a little extravagant, but I guess you’re also paying for the glorious view!
Fantastic service and food. My wife and I were treated exceptionally well and each course became our new favorite. I felt the value was excellent, we had an excellent experience and we look forward to dining there again.
Went on Thursday night before SEC championship game, and we’re one of 2 tables there, which is strange for a restaurant in a very full hotel. Had been there many years ago and loved it but did not spend time researching menu or reviews. View was beautiful but ambiance dated and freezing cold. The waiter never explained how the ordering worked, and the menu had no prices but didn’t say it was prix fixe. I never ordered entree (as usual), not realizing I had to, but was never prompted to do so by our server. Tried to charge us for four full meals even though we only had 5 apps and 2 entrees with no dessert. Thankfully we negotiated the price down as this was fully on the waiter. Food tasted wonderful but the overall experience left us with a bad taste.
Great food great date we could enjoy each other over a nice meal.
Food was amazing! The way you order from the menu was a bit confusing for a first time visitor so I wish they would have explained a bit more how the ordering process works. Otherwise it was great,!
My first time at an old Atlanta fine dining institution. My wife and I had the five-course experience (we did not opt for cheese). While you won't find anything truly novel, what you'll find are elegant and accessible dishes, all excellently prepared; you're bound to make a good impression if you bring folks here for dinner. The offerings lean more towards the traditional French side but with a little bit of new American and Slavic, from a Brussels sprout salad with crunchy seeds and a hint of mustard to a satisfying mushroom toast with rich earthy mushrooms and a round, tangy aioli; the excellent cooking features crispy, flavorful sears and good side pairings. Even a very ordinary-looking apple galette featured delightful pastry and a nice bourbon ice cream on top. The wine on offer is also very good; the waitstaff shaped their pairings to what we liked rather than specific dishes, but it was a great complement to the meal.
My husband and I celebrated our 10th year anniversary here and had a wonderful time. Our waiter was amazing, the food was amazing, and the view was amazing.
Our server was so nice, polite, and attentive. We celebrated my fiancee’s birthday with a lovely 5 course meal. Our favorite was the Brussel sprout salad and the scallops! Yum!
I would have given a 5 star but I had to send my steak back twice
Food OK, but nothing extraordinary. Our server was OK, but it almost looked like he couldn't wait to finish his shift. We've observed others (and heard some comments from customers) and they were not too happy.
Wonderful experience. Would ABSOLUTELY go back. If you are in Atlanta—GO!
I will recommend Nikolai’s for a one time special occasion. The food is great, service is excellent. The place could be renovated, the restaurant area is too small. The view is just ok. I prefer the Sun Dial for their view and style. Nikolai’s food is great but I believe is too expensive.
In general, I liked Nikolai's Roof. The view is decent especially at night, but the Sundial has a better view. The food was good. Other places in this price range send small gifts from the chef between courses, but Nikolai's did not. The food was well seasoned and cooked. It did not have the the take my breathe away flavor, but was not bland. In a nutshell, I would just describe the restaurant as decent.
Went to see if Nikolai’s offered the same wonderful dining experience as “the old days”. Things have definitely changed since the time Cossack waiters served straight flavors vodka, but the ambiance, the sophistication and the food and service are still there! Great night of dining. Will be back.
We came partially for the view, which is indeed amazing, but the food, service and atmosphere beat the view!! It was a wonderful evening that I will recommend again and again to my friends and family. Compliments go out to the chef and wait staff -- excellent on both counts. We will return!
We first came to Nikolais roof 36 years ago. We have continued to come due to the exceptional food and service. It’s a very nice anniversary or birthday spot. Delicious.
Scott was a very attentive & gracious waiter!
FAN-FREAK'N-TAS-TIC! IN EVERY MANNER POSSIBLE! We went out for wife's birthday and it will be one that we will remember for the rest of our lives!
The view was spectacular and the food was even better! The beef tenderloin was incredibly tender. We can’t wait to go back!
Overall we had a great experience. Our sever Manuela was exceptional
Fabulous meal, exquisite service and wonderful atmosphere! One of my favorites!
Excellent food and service within a beautifully quiet environment. You are able to have great conversation and amazing food!
An excellent dining experience except our table. I never realized you have to ask for a windowside table. When one became available before we were even served cocktails, our waitress was told it was already promised to another party. A second windowside table became available five minutes after that, and we had CLEARLY expressed interest in sitting there but to no avail. The host avoided us since I'm sure he realized we wanted to move but he was not interested in pleasing us. The rest of the experience was superior in every way.
I took an overtown guest here, and we went at 7.30pm on a Tues night. The place was empty except for us - so made us question how it would be (and decreased the vibe). The view was awesome, though. Unfortunately, the place was really cold, so we weren't very comfortable. Service was timely and helpful. Overall, the food was tasty but not worth the prices, so the overall value wasn't great. We paid $130 for 2 people eating a 3-course dinner. Apps were fine but not unique, my tenderloin was tasty, and my friend's pasta was fine but not special. Souffle was really tasty (probably my favorite). Compared to other places in ATL for the money, I was disappointed. You are really paying for the view. Might recommend this for someone going for an early dinner and seeing the daytime view/sunset.
Starter portion of course dinner can be larger. All other courses served during dinner service were appropriate and delicious. I dined with my husband in celebration our our 1st wedding anniversary with my Godmother, who dined here years ago with her husband. The cocktail menu is not a vast as their wine menu. The ambience of the Nikoli's dining room is sophisticated and if you can get a table next to window- you can add romance of Atlanta's cityscape from the 35th floor.
The ambiance provided by the view of the city makes for a very romantic setting. The service was impeccable. The entrees were delectable (rack of lamb & snapper). The appetizers left a bit to be desired (shaved Brussel sprouts and the salmon belly). Price was expected for a high star restaurant. $150 for dinner for 2, glass of wine, no dessert. I would have liked to spend that amount but with 2 glasses of wine and 2 desserts as well. But I would recommend to a friend for a special occasion.
Worst dinner experience that I remembered. The service ruined the whole ocasión
An Atlanta tradition that still rocks as a first class experience!
Beautiful decor, stunning views and very friendly staff. Fixed-price menu options could be a turn-off for some as you lose the ability to control your meal cost to some extent in an already pricey place. We got there very early for dinner reservation and they were very accommodating and gracious. Filet was cooked perfectly with a great crust. Sides were a little less than my liking but were cooked perfectly as well. Great place for special occasion, romantic meal.
Waiter was trying to rush us through our food and out of the restaurant. I wanted a 5 course meal but was forced into getting a 3 course meal. Besides that Dining experience was great. Food tasted decent.
Unique menu, superior service
I had the best experience and the service was amazing. I was very satisfied with food and price....
This had to be one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have enjoyed in our lifetimes. Normally I am skeptical of in-hotel restaurants, but everything about this restaurant was exceptional. Ask for Vassil to be your server.
Excellent food and service. Perfect for a special occasion. Daniel and his team do a great job.
Needs to be ripped and rebuilt. A lot of the good was cold and really not very good. Squeezing past the A/C unit to go to the bathroom ... not great. Place falling apart. Far too expensive. Obviously surging on previous reputation. Our server was outstanding. Too good for the restaurant.
Never disappoints. Food and service was Exceptional!
Really nice dinner with excellent service
Went for their equivalent of the early-bird special. Expected it to have relatively modest European-sized portions, but the portions were substantial--especially the salmon and the dessert--and everything, including the appetizer, was delicious and beautifully presented. Going early in the evening (5:30) also meant that it was extremely peaceful and relaxing in the restaurant.
