Nikko Japanese Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Went on a Saturday night over a long weekend (mlk day weekend) and the music was very loud, could barely talk to anyone at the table and it was very crowded by our booth and there was not much room to walk out and go to the bathroom. But this is my 4th time here and the food is fantastic, moderate value but still fantastic, and that will be the reason I keep returning, but probably never again on a weekend
A busy night with multiple large groups. We got a seat in the corner and were largely neglected. The owner danced by us several times with her famous cowboy hat on, but never even looked at us. From the beginning drinks, napkins and utensils, to the bill, we had to grab our waitress and ask for service. The food has always been great and the ambience loud, I will try them again, hopefully just a bad night.
We went especially for the oysters. Called ahead to make sure they were on the menu, was told that they were and after ordering our food was very disappointed to find out they weren’t. We came especially for the oysters but stayed anyway. The meal was good but very disappointed about them telling us over the phone that they had oysters when they didn’t. Would’ve went elsewhere if we had known.
Our sushi order never showed up. When we asked for the order to be cancelled after waiting over 30 minutes the waitress argued with us, saying that the food was already being prepared. We then asked to speak to the manager and instead of bringing over anyone, the waitress brought the check, which included the sushi that we still hadn't received, but the manager never showed up. Not a great experience!
Nikko's has a beautiful ambiance and an EXCELLENT DJ. It's always laughs, good food, great service and a FUN owner that makes her rounds during the entire evening! Great for a date night, a girls night out or a celebration event, even a quick bite. The online reservation process is easy as well. Complimentary valet is AWESOME as well. The parking deck is a bit tricky, so take advantage of that complimentary valet service. But tip the guys well cause they deserve it! I LOVE this spot!
The service was bad, the manger was rude and the food was cold. This was so surprising because I have been to this establishment plenty of times before and everything was great, but this time not so. I was there to celebrate my graduation and it just turned out badly. I was so disappointed. I loved going to this place but i will not go again.
It's very loud, I think that one table had a little too much to drink. Our food came out cold, very bland and over priced.
Not what I expected, I was looking for different Japanese food, but this taste like your nearby Chinese food. We drove from Fort Mill to see what the hype was about and it was very disappointed.
Nikko's is my go-to sushi spot in Charlotte. It is pretty consistent on overall sushi and such. Noticed that they had expanded their non-sushi menu to appeal to folks who are not keen on sushi (gasp).
As always, the meal was nice and service was good.
My only suggestion is that they focus on their bar offerings. The drinks are fairly expensive compared to other sushi places and the bar tender could be better. When a venue is geared to be a more happening spot, their bartenders should reflect that... the bartender who was okay was dressed in workout clothes. Nothing wrong with that but it does not match their target to be hip and happening.
Nikko's is mine and my friend's favorite sushi restaurant in town but tonight may have just ruined it for us. Despite the perfect sushi, the ambiance was totally disrupted by the obnoxiously loud music that started at 8pm. This is not one of those uptown restaurants that turns into a club at night time--especially at 8pm! We literally couldn't even have a conversation at a booth because it was so loud. To note, we are not elderly, cantankerous women-we are 29 year old, fun loving girls. Even for us, the music was entirely too loud for dinner and I honestly doubt we'll be back. We were incredibly disappointed tonight.
Our family ate here to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. We had a party of ten people and we made a reservation. We let them know ahead of time it was a birthday celebration. They charged us for the small dessert they brought out for our son's birthday. I've been to other upscale restaurants where the birthday dessert would have been complementary for the birthday boy. My sister in law found a hair in her sushi. The waiter didn't even apologize for the hair. The food came out staggered. Some of us were eating and others were not. Ten minutes into the meal some were still not eating, and they weren't extremely busy. I ordered the tempura platter and my food came out room temperature. The manager never came over and apologized for the hair found in the sushi. Overall I cannot recommend this restaurant. I don't mind paying a lot for a meal if it tastes good but this place wasn't good for a birthday celebration.
My overall experience at Nikkos was not great and it was my birthday. I did not feel special at all, compared to my last experience. That's why I chose Nikkos again to have my birthday dinner. My table was given away after making reservations. I was put back into this room where you could barley hear the music. Customer service overall really sucked. I wouldn't have my birthday dinner there ever again.
Table of 7 all with excellent sushi and drinks. Love their menu - nice variety. Our server, Samantha, was wonderful. We like the loud music on the weekend evenings. Very upbeat atmosphere and fun staff. Had a great time.
Not a place for kids. Inappropriate and awkward with the clubby music and happenings. Same great food here Sunday - Thursday.
