The Nicollet Island Inn is such a special place. It’s so accessible, not expensive and a beautiful place for any occasion. We had brunch and it was so reasonable and tastefully done. $5 Mimosas and a three course offering that hit the spot!
Superb food, superb ambiance, superb service. We were so happy with our meal on Wednesday that we returned Thursday with our London guest. We all left delighted and sated.
Easter brunch. You're going to pay for top notch food. Timing was good, food temp and flavor right on the mark.
I dined at Nicollett Island Inn for an Easter brunch with family. This is my 3rd year having brunch here for the holiday. It is a wonderful setting and the food and service are wonderful! This will continue to be a family tradition.
Easter Brunch virtually identical to last years menu, or very very similar. Food was very rich, other than the quiche not all that enjoyable. We will find a different venue for Easter next year. Disappointing but we likely will not be back.
Freindly hostess, Superb service, Elegant as to how the courses were presented, Great tasting food and beverages.
The Easter menu was extremely tasty and just the right amount of food.
Wonderful evening. Very good meal presented by a wonderfully erudite and fluent waiter. Strongly recommend this restaurant!
Three of us had dinner on a Wednesday. We all commented on the fact that we could actually talk and be heard. Very enjoyable atmosphere and the food was very good. Service was first rate.
This was a very enjoyable brunch. Great food. Great atmosphere.
Step back from busyness and into a lovely, peaceful setting. The service is attentive and professional. The menu is creative and small enough to give care to anything that comes out of the kitchen.
Anniversary get away. We spent several nights at the inn. The inn and the meal was outstanding. The menu and staff were amazing. They went out of their way to create a memorable evening at our dinner. A great meal! They brought out complimentary champagne! They put candles on our desert plates to celebrate our day! I had the shrimp risotto and it was dense with shrimps. The flavor was very very good. My wife had the crab tagliatelle and it was wonderful. If you want an amazing meal, or you have a special day this place is wonderful. The staff took extra time and care and really made us feel pampered.
Good food but not spectacular. Great environment and service.
Fantastic food and service. The hostess was prompt and highly accommodating. Manager came through several times to see how everything was going.
Our server knew the menu extremely well and the service was top notch. There are many tables in the restaurant with windows to view the river and St. Anthony area. We were really impressed with everything - easy parking, top notch service and the food was fantastic.
Always enjoy the Nicollet Island Inn. Such a pleasant environment and excellent service. Our waiter efficiently managed our appetizers, entrees and desserts so that we weren't rushed but were finished in ample time to get to our theater performance. I had the halibut which was perfectly cooked, however, I was not enthused about the accompanying "legume porridge". It felt too heavy for the delicacy of the halibut. My companion had the duck which had been recommended by our server but she found it tough. The chocolate mouse dessert was wonderful. I am sure we will return as it is a go-place for pre-theater dining.
I felt the menu was small and very over priced. $8 for a side of sweet potato fries. $16 for a "gourmet" grilled cheese sandwich. $16 for a pulled pork sandwich with chips. If the food had been spectacular, I would be less harsh, but the food we had was nothing special. I won't be back.
Great as always. One of my favorite in Mpls
The service was outstanding, as usual. Our appetizer (mussels) and entrées (lamb shank and scallops) were outstanding also. Unfortunately, the dessert (carrot chiffon cake) was terrible -- dry and heavy, not light and moist as we were expecting. Our waitress handled it very well -- she took it off the bill and offered a replacement (we didn't take her up on a replacement).
I have been to the Nicollet Island Inn several times for brunch or drinks and always enjoyed the food and the setting along the River. This time three of us went for lunch. The server was excellent - friendly and efficient. However, the food was very disappointing and over priced. Perhaps it was what we ordered. Two of us ordered the chef's special - chicken pot pie. The dish was like thick soup and served in a soup bowl with a pastry crust floating on top. The dish was also unusually bland (even for chicken pot pie) and outrageously over priced at $16. The third diner ordered a similarly priced entree. We were not served bread or any other type of accompaniment. We did not have dessert but each of us had a cup of regular coffee that tasted a bit burnt. We each had an $11 glass of wine. The bill, before gratuity, was $103 including tax and MPLS SST Fee. I'm not usually one to complain but I thought this lunch bordered on awful. However, my companions were satisfied or at least said they were as they had come at my invitation. I remember enjoying brunch here but I will not be coming back for lunch.
My wife had an amazing time here. Highly recommend it and will be returning soon. The lamb and scallops were amazing and our server was on top of it. We never felt neglected.
Absolutely lovely! Staff is very friendly, food is incredible and the atmosphere during breakfast/lunch time was perfect for a casual date.
We had the place to ourselves on a cold snowy night. Attentive service, delicious food. It was our first time there and we will definitly go back. Our table had a window view of the river.
Lovely with old school charm
We loved the dining area. You could some of the city and also the old bridge over the river.
Anniversary
Very disappointing ... food, service, and ambiance. Great building and location but that didn’t carry the experience.
We have come to celebrate most special occasions at the Inn because it is upscale dining in a very comfortable setting. I love that a small room can be used for small parties. Our guests were two college students who had never been to the NII before. Tres Leches french toast was divine and the mushroom gnocchi were excellent, too. Our server Joe was knowledgeable, congenial, and efficient. Thank you! And the bloody mary was so fine. See you again!
Arrived for date night early dinner time reservation. Service was pleasant right from the beginning throughout the night. Crab cake appetizer was good. I had the prime rib special and wife had chicken Osso buco - she had soup and I had a wedge. Overall, better than average. The prime rib was above average. Decent portions for both meals. We ordered desert. We’re carrot cake fans, but what was served tasted like stale cinnamon cake. It didn’t really resemble carrot cake. They brought out a second piece - same deal. The raspberry sherbert was okay. Overall, for the price this is a once a year type location for us. It’s a unique venue and very relaxing despite it sharing the building with a hotel and with banquet rooms in the basement.
Always a pleasure to dine here. The ambience is the best. Quiet lovely setting with views out to the river and horse drawn carriage passing by. It is easy to have friendly conversation and gracious atmosphere. Food is traditional and usually quite good.
loved the location and the privacy that the restaurant offered. Did not feel rushed at all
Met my clients for lunch. They aren't from here and they loved the experience. I meet in the private dining room twice a month, so I am very familiar with The Inn. LOVE your food! Love the look and feel of The Inn. Thanks for consistently delivering a great experience.
Wonderful ambience. Reasonable prices.
Went here for Valentine's Day dinner with my partner and had the prix fixe special menu with wine pairings. Everything was prepared perfectly, the portions were just right, and we felt pampered. Lovely service, lovely atmosphere. We've been here before and have always been happy with our experiences.
Always a pleasant place for a meal. Food is always well prepared, attractively served and hot when delivered. There is generally a wide assortment of options on the menu so most any taste will be satisfied. There are several relaxing views of the Mississippi River available to make this a welcoming venue.
Valentine's Day - and our anniversary - falls on a Wednesday this year so we decided to celebrate 2 days early with a leisurely Sunday brunch at Nicollet Island Inn. We both got the 5-course brunch and the selections were incredible (the smoked salmon Benedict was hands-down the best Benedict we've ever eaten!). We loved having the time to sit and enjoy the beautiful view, each other's company, and the food without being rushed. Seriously, there are so few places that make you feel like a valued patron and respect the luxury of a paced meal. Thank you so much for another great meal - as always, we'll be back!
This is a mainstay spot of ours. Quiet, romantic, great views.
The food is very good although not a very creative menu.
This visit we had the filet and lobster. The filet was excellent, the lobster so-so.
The lamb shank was great.
We had brussel sprouts as an appetizer, although tasty, they were somewhat boring being just sauteed in butter.
Still one of my favorite romantic spots!
A favorite place with family and friends. Excellent food, superb service, lovely ambience.
Very special environment for an intimate dinner.
Always treated like royalty when a restaurant guest at the Inn. Food is always fabulous and the staff kind and attentive!
