About Nicollet Island Inn

The Nicollet Island Inn has stood witness to over a century of change on the shores of the Mississippi River. If you want to get into the Christmas spirit stop in at The Nicollet Island Inn. They celebrate the season with evergreens, trees & garland. Even the vestibule smells wonderful. After you’ve enjoyed the decor have a terrific meal. Breakfast is my favorite & I recommend it to everyone.

Disappointing experience. Menu very limited, no wine list. Server rattled off “house wines” without reference to cost. Water glasses not refilled. Neither of us finished our entree and my friend didn’t care to eat all her soup. We will keep our good memories of past meals at the Inn, but will not return.

We did enjoy watching a large wedding party posing for pictures outside. The quiet table by a window was much appreciated.

We went to Nicollet Island Inn on Wed for a family event. The atmosphere was wonderful: warm, cozy, and a low noise level that made conversation easy. The service was outstanding - the host and the waiter were very attentive and helpful. I had the salmon, and it was first rate, the best salmon I have ever had. However, others in our party ordered the duck and the venison (a recommended dish). Although I did not know it at the time, both were very difficult to cut and nearly impossible to chew. Minnesota reserve ensured there were no complaints at the time, but both items should have been sent back to the kitchen.

Delightful menu and setting. Food was delicious and the ambiance is special. Very wonderful place to dine and be able to visit as well.

It was a bit cool in the dining room. I was chilly and I saw a few other guests appearing cool especially ladies.

Todd was a very nice, professional waiter. I wish he had been a bit more attentive, engaging etc. He was more reserved and did his job well. It’s always more fun if they engage a bit.

The Nicollet Island Inn is a one of a kind elegant, serene and beautiful setting. Menu is outstanding, service impeccable and top of the line cuisine. Ambience is romantic, quiet and private, always consistent and enjoyable. My friends and I continue to visit whenever we gather and are never disappointed, always looking forward to returning, a lovely experience. It is easy to travel to, find & park. Skyline and river views complete the setting in both day and evening along with watching horse drawn carriages and quaint shops across the cobblestone road. A perfect destination and place to bring and impress first time guests.

We were there for Thanksgiving, and the service was slower than usual, but it's nice to have a place to go on Thanksgiving that is a nice atmosphere and not noisy.

My husband and I were just here for our anniversary. The service and ambiance were perfection! I had the salmon and let me tell YOU! Best I have ever had. If you order this please savor it - it's so inventive and absolute perfection! My husband had the chicken pot pie and he said it was outstanding. Wonderful food. We even received a complimentary glass of champagne for our special day. Places like the Nicollet Island Inn, who strive for service, deserve your business and money. What a great night! Thank you!!!

Most everything was good, it was a 25th anniversary for us so we wanted something a little special. The prime rib was very good, the salad was pretty unimpressive, not much taste, but overall we were very satisfied. We had a good waiter.

I've always appreciated Nicollet Island Inn. I love the food and the atmosphere ALWAYS! I invited my good friend for his birthday there and he'd never been there or heard of the place. Well we had lunch and he absolutely loved it. He had eggs benedict for the first time EVER and he just loved it. He always asks me when are we going to go back.

The food was only average. We have had many tasting menu dinners with a wine flight. This was the first time that a restaurant has continued to refill the same used wine glass with each course. It seemed pretty classless.

We live the multi course dinners with wine pairings. They had everything down, excellent I teresting food, great wine pairings and excellent service. These require a lot of table service and good timing to make it a good experience and they always get it right.

2nd to NONE in customer service! Even when I make a mistake with my reservation, they took it on & made all things right. They've done this before with an expired coupon too; they don't just aim to please, they Just Do It!
Meals, wines, desserts, & service were all outstanding!
We brought my sister & BiL & they were equally impressed. We look forward to our next visit.

Every time I've been to the Nicollet Island Inn, I'm treated as thought it is a special occasion. The staff are very considerate (but not hovering) and always ask for your seating preferences. This is a great place to enjoy a lovely view, and it is nice and quiet - easy to hold a conversation. The menu provides lots of interesting options - and the food looks and tastes great.

We were disappointed with the overall experience. In years past we were treated to very extraordinary service and unique food and desserts. My steak was overdone and the dessert choices were nothing special. For the price charged, it could have been much better. We will be trying other options for future dining. Also, there were many open tables and we were seated at a table with no water view, but instead drapery that should have been updated years ago. We asked to be moved. We were glad we didn't decide to stay the night also.

I went here for Sunday brunch and had a really nice time. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It's a nice place to go if you want to dress up a bit but it was still casual enough that I didn't feel uncomfortable or too formal. The food was excellent, a great selection of sweet and savory dishes that our server said changes seasonally and depends on local produce. It was a bit pricey but considering the ambiance and the quality that wasn't unexpected. The price might keep me from coming back regularly but I definitely recommend this place if you're looking to treat yourself.
