Nicollet Island Inn
Nic's bar, just off the main dining room, is a casual, old-world tavern and the patio offers stunning views of the Minneapolis skyline. The Inn is a convenient, comfortable destination for breakfast or lunch meetings while the 3 or 5-course Sunday Brunch is the perfect weekend indulgence.

The "hostess" on duty was alone and seemed to be running the entire show, from the restaurant seating to the hotel front desk. Once seated we waited a bit to be acknowledged by a server. From my vantage point it appeared there were only 2 servers in the restaurant. It wasn't extremely busy, but busy enough that they were hustling. The roasted red pepper soup was very good, but could have stood to be a bit hotter. My steak (the Steak & Eggs breakfast) was more gristle than meat. My over easy eggs were over hard. My companions walleye sandwich, though she said it was tasty, had a horrible plate presentation. The tartar sauce and coleslaw were indistinguishable, and it came with a huge pile of greens that she did not order (and were not mentioned in the menu description). Our dessert, a pecan roll, was black on the bottom and served with rock solid butter. Overall, I wish I would have selected a different place to have brunch for my birthday. Sadly disappointed.
We had a terrific experience at Nicollet Island Inn. Sat in the bar at first and the bartender was great! Dinner was delicious! Would definitely recommend!
The food came out cool to warm not hot and the service was just okay seemed like they were doing us a favor by helping us. 4 people, 4 drinks total with dinner $232 before tip soothes are getting all the money maybe just banking on the history of the place.
Great Nice, quiet special experience
Great place for lunch. Very scenic view of the river. Quiet older crowd.
Always my favorite lunch spot. Really busy this time and that stretched the staff considerably.
Boy, is this place tired. The only saving grace is the view of the Mississippi River from the dining room. Fourof us met for breakfast at 11:00 - we had a reservation. We ordered standard breakfasts - bacon and eggs and omelettes. 45 minutes later, after I had gotten up from our table and chased down our server, our food finally arrived. My easy-over eggs were rock-hard and the hash browns were greasy and tasteless. Terrible coffee. Tiny omelettes . Other than that, it was a perfect experience.
This gem of a restaurant is as lovely as ever. The setting is serene, the food exquisite and the service top notch. I need to go there more often :)
The food and service was excellent. The ambiance was very quaint and very historic. The windows overlooking the river and park was great.
Jane is our favorite server. She does an excellent job! We eat at Nicollet Island Inn often and always ask to be seated in Jane’s section.
I love this place. It is nice. It is quiet. The service is always friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious. I have been coming here for several years, whenever I get to Minneapolis, and will continue to return to this restaurant with each visit to this lovely city. I brought two colleagues with me on my last visit, neither had ever been before. They too loved the place and were quite satisfied with the food. The wine list is nice, too.
My wife and I had a very nice view of the river. The fall colors made it an outstanding view! Great place to eat their shrimp ceviche and share a bottle of wine. Everyone was very nice.
Wonderful! Beautiful historic building. Great location. Pleasant staff!!
We loved every moment and appreciate everyone making the dinner special!
This restaurant is a gem for ambiance and exceptional cuisine. We decided to be adventurous and try the Leg of Lamb which in our past experience has not always been successful. Our complements to the chef...excellent !! Our Server was very knowledgeable on the menu and We enjoyed her joyful demeanor. Our 37th Anniversary will be remembered fondly at the Nicollet Island Inn
Everything was perfect from staff to food!!
We always love visiting the Nicollet Island Inn! We started with drinks in the beautiful bar looking out at Harriet Island. We followed drinks with dinner, overlooking the river. The restaurant is stunning and the ambience delightful. The food was very good and the service was spectacular. As always, we enjoyed our evening and will return.
Our meal was bland tasting...we had a fish and a pasta dish. Not memorable so a forgot what we ate. Maybe the chef had an off night??? The venue is lovely. BTW the guy host (older gent) had a odd sense of humor.
Firstly, the food was good, but it was not worth the price, to be perfectly honest.
Secondly, The ambiance was nice.
Lastly, I was not a big fan of our server (I believe her name was Liz), it took her a while to come to the table, when she did, she didn’t introduce herself. She was not attentive at all, and I got the impression that she wanted to get us in and out. Overall, her energy was off and off putting.
Nicollet Island Inn was wonderful as always, perfect atmosphere to have a conversation and so romantic. Wonderful service and delicious food. We'll absolutely be back.
Very charming. Wait staff were friendly, warm and inviting. Food was delicious and the view was great on the river with the Fall leaves turning colors.
What a pleasant surprise. We were visiting town and took daughter out to dinner. We haven't been here in a long time. The food was awesome, the Fall menu, was well selected, prepared and it was very clear the Chef and team were on their A game. We were able to substitute for the Goulash appetizer---what a delight! The Duck, pasta dish was to die for. The Bread pudding dessert was spectacular. We will definitely come back. This place deserves more stars. On top of that it has history that can't compete with many places in Minneapolis
Had the absolute BEST time at Nicollet Island Inn with my Fiance ! We went for our 5th dating anniversary and stayed in a room as well. Food was amazing, service outstanding. The drinks were fantastic!! Great little spot.
Good place for dinner and social gathering
My niece and I were getting together for a long-delayed lunch. And we chose the perfect place. We had a table facing the river, it was quiet so we could have a conversation, and the food was good. The waiter was terrific, and we never felt hurried to move on. So we had a thoroughly enjoyable, long visit.
Great food, great service, great ambiance! Would highly recommend the Nicollet Island Inn!
The food was satisfactory. I had the duck and it was good, not great, good. I compared it to the duck at the Northeast Social which is substantially better. The salmon had a slight fishy taste to it. Service was impeccable. Ambiance excellent. An enjoyable, romantic spot IF you've chosen the right entree.
Met all expectations
The charming and cozy ambiance, the attentive and professional service (Beth) and the quiet dining room makes this the perfect place to celebrate a birthday with a friend.
The omelette of the day was satisfactory. The quiche tasted better. Both are served with greens in a light vinaigrette. A bread basket or roll would be a nice addition.
Dessert was the winner. Crime Brûlée was perfect. Chocolate mousse—so so.
The food is a disappointment, but other choices may be more winning. But it is always a treat to walk in the door of the Nicolet Island Inn—and then the dining room.
VERY disappointing experience with the new Octoberfest (four course) menu including cold potatoes meager portions, barely average dessert. Long wait for service and a smart-aleck response from a waiter, who, when I asked about the pretzel appetizer to accompany our cocktail (it arrived after the soup and salad) replied, "I only have two hands!" I wasn't being critical or demeaning, only inquiring after a LONG wait if perhaps with a new menu the pretzel was forgotten. A very expensive meal for two (meant to be a special date) which left a very bad taste in my mouth. I would welcome a phone call from management regarding our experience and the possibility of reversing my Sunday evening decision, "last time for the Inn".

Enjoyed the atmosphere inside and outside. Very good service and wonderful food!
One of the best places to eat at if one wants a quiet romantic meal. Noise level low so people can talk with each other! Steak we had was the best we had in a restaurant in years.
Beautiful location, lovely food and wine. The waiter was good though not great. I would go back again.
I've been to restaurant several times
This is first time I've been diappointed
Service extremely slow when it didn't appear to be a busy day
Food was also not up to expectation
Willing to give it a try again because of its ambiance and history
Everyone enjoyed the dinner, all commented on how good the food was.
Beautiful, quiet atmosphere. Lovely place for a mid week lunch with wonderful friends. The food was absolutely perfect. Three of us had the walleye entree...it was cooked to perfection and the presentation was perfect as well.
I come to Nicollet Island Inn because it is a wonderful place to have a private conversation over lunch. It is rare these days to not have to speak loudly over everyone else. The salmon salad is always good as was the walleye.
Lovely old inn with a fabulous menu and food. The waiter made nice suggestions, and we tried several dishes between the 4 of us. Would go again anytime!
