Can't decide whether to love this place or not. Problem is it's frustratingly inconsistent. The first time we ate there it was great, and we went back a few times. But recently it's been out of this world one night and another you wonder if the staff communicates with each other. Saturday night (12/3) was the latter. Got there and waited behind another couple at the hostess station. They didn't have reservations and hostess informed them that the dining room was "fully booked" and therefore a long wait. They left. We had a reservation, were seated, and noticed several empty tables -- that were never filled.
Our server was very personable and outgoing. Recommended a great drink for my wife and made several good beer recommendations for me. For appetizers, we ordered the charcuterie (very good) and their take on poutine (disappointing - potato chips with gravy and cheese curds, and barely warm). Main courses were monkfish (good) and pork saltimbocca (fair). Problem with the pork was that on the menu it was listed as a 14 oz. veal "porterhouse," and when I ordered our server apologized and said they'd run out of veal but had substituted pork. Fine by me. But 1) when it came out it was barely tepid, and certainly not hot and 2) charging the same price for a small boneless pork chop as a veal porterhouse? Really? Doesn't seem right. Dessert - chocolate peanut butter pie - was very good too.
Should also note that on other occasions we've had their lobster mac & cheese, which is just amazing.
Sadly, that might be the last time we dine here. It's just too inconsistent to spend that kind of money on food that's hit or miss.
