Nico Ratings and Reviews
The meal was delicious, per usual. What I love the most is the scoop of fresh ricotta included with a few dishes. I’ve never encountered that anywhere else and believe it adds a special something to the dish. Our waiter was hilarious and professional. Which made for a fun atmosphere. Lost a star due to our table position. I wish the curtains were drawn because we kept getting blasted by cold air every time the door opened.
Celebrated my birthday with my wife while staying in Boston over night. Picked Nico out of all the North End restaurants based upon reviews and our knowledge of the North End. It was our first visit and I can't wait to go back. We had the Caprese salad first; it was one of the best we've had (just the right amount of season and a great balsamic glaze). I had the veal valdostana and again it was one of the best I've tasted. My wife had a chicken dish and it was just okay but we didn't expect much; she was trying to stay away from sauce. We skipped dessert to stop at Modern Pastry on the walk back to the hotel.
Fabulous food and great ambiance!
Cute little spot to have a great dinner. We ordered one of the evenings specials, Ciopinno and one item off the menu. Both were more flavorful than expected. Waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and was there whenever we needed him.
Great hostess. She was very friendly and eager to please.
I would definitely go back!
Extremely large portions of wonderful food. Prices, especially for specials, sound high until you see the size of the portions and taste the food! We had excellent servers at the bar and at the table. Everyone was helpful, assisting with dragging scarves and heavy coats on a freezing night in the North End. Tables are close together, but far enough apart for the waiters. We left with two to-go bags after generous chicken and lobster dishes could not be finished. Nice lunch the next day!
Really recommend the lobster meat risotto which was a special the evening we went for dinner. Also the Nico's sangria was a different and enjoyable start to the evening.
Food was fantastic. I had the duck ravioli with prosecco cream sauce and it was amazing!
Husband had the chicken parm and it was super tender. Server was great and very attentive.
While the restaurant is very small and somewhat cramped, the overall experience was A+
Xmas eve dinner, for second Xmas in a row. Turning into our go to spot. Everything was fantastic, from food to service. We were seated in the basement, which was fine, but it was a little noisy, which took away from the experience. Only real negative, and not that big a deal. Server was excellent...suggestive, and attentive. Will be back next Xmas for sure, and most likely again during the year. Great place
A nice neighborhood find. We had a great meal but there had not been any info on no liquor served. Just beer and wine (Although there was a Jack Daniels bottle and several vodka varieties.)
Service was very good but it is a tight, little place my 6’3” date took issue with. Also, no where to hang a coat.
I’d go back but would have liked to have known about these issues!
The food here was great. I got the Mushroom Ravioli with the Truffle Cream Sauce. It was to die for but very rich! My boyfriend got the Chicken Parmesean which was excellent. We shared the meatball for an appetizer which was incredible. The red sauce here is truly fantastic. This menu had more options, especially for pasta, than many other North End restuarants which is great. The service was extremely fast, and our waiter was very friendly. The lacking part was the atmosphere. It was very small and bland looking - not cozy for being small at least. The restuarant was also very brightly lit during dinner which I did not like. Overall I would still recommend this to a friend.
Our family loves trying all the North End Italian...Nico's is excellent! Best Fried calamari, lemon shrimp bruschetta and mussels and little necks in spicy sauce...to start!! All of our entrees where amazing, plenty of food and flavor :) Can't wait to go back!
We were in Boston with friends for the weekend and we wanted to enjoy some great Italian food in the north end. We were thrilled to get a table reserved for Nico based on some great reviews. We tried the eggplant and the prosciutto wrapped smoked cheese as appetizers and they were very tasty! For our entrees we had chicken Parmesan and the gnocchi’s and both were delicious. The wait staff was very attentive and they made sure to check back with us frequently to be sure all was going well during the meal. The only complaint we had—- it may seem petty—- but we felt uncomfortable because one of the hostesses kept looking at us during the meal to see if we were finishing or finished eating. We were seated right next to the hostess station so it was very obvious. It is a small restaurant with limited seating and it was a busy Saturday night so we understand that they would like turn over the table as quickly as possible. We felt that we were being rushed. We would definitely return but maybe on a different night.
Great Italian food in a cozy setting. Sat downstairs for a date night and ordered calamari, red wine, veal saltimboca and fusilli pasta with shrimp in a pink sauce with ricotta. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. A little pricey but comparable for fine dining.
We wanted to enjoy a dinner in the North End, to have a good Italian dinner and see Christmas decorations. We did not want to wait in a line, since it was cold. Nico's offered Open Table, the reviews were good, so we booked. My husband & I took our college age kids. The atmosphere was festive, the service was spot on, and the dinner was good. I would recommend the rigatoni in the truffle cream sauce. It was excellent!
I have always liked Nico's but this time when I made a reservation a week ahead to go with a good friend they offered me the only choice of a table in the BASEMENT (don't do it!). When I asked for a table upstairs I had an hour wait …long enough to add an extra bottle of wine to the bill. I'll have to rethink Nico.
We went on a Friday night, obviously a busy time, and the restaurant was very crowded. One of us was seated right where waiters were continuously coming out of the kitchen with food or going down stairs -- tight squeeze. The service was very fast -- nice if we were in a hurry, but we wanted to enjoy each other's company as much as the food, and we clearly got the message that they wanted us to clear out to make way for other customers. Not the place for a relaxed meal. I had the homemade fusilli with shrimp -- light on the shrimp for $23 (4 shrimp in my serving!) but the homemade fusilli was delicious. My sister's saltimbocca was disappointing - covered in a gloppy gravy, and she left half on her plate. Very loud and crowded. We will not come here again.
