We had a large party with family home for the holidays and two exchange students. Everyone had a liver my experience. Outstanding food and service.
The food was spectacular. Enjoyed every bite. Wine is expensive but not unexpected. Service was good. Very uncomfortable with the lack of adherence to public safety rules. Either the staff had no mask whatsoever or simply wore them under their chin. The same was true of cooks. I had a direct line of sight into the kitchen. Definitely not going back until after the pandemic is over despite the amazing food. Too bad really.
Fantastic everything. Service is awesome so warm and friendly. Food delicious and a nice warm ambiance. Traditional cool.
Disappointing, used to be old school Italian.
Don’t get the cacio e pepe. We ordered two and they weren’t able to do the presentation because of where we were sitting, which was fine, but when they arrived they were basically just cold butter noodles. When we told our waiter, he told us he didn’t recommend the dish and didn’t know why people ordered it. They corrected the mistake and brought out new plates. The other food was fine, but wouldn’t ever go back.
It was my friends birthday and the servers came out singing to her with the most delicious dessert snd a sparkler. It was just perfect!
Nichols was an enjoyable dinner enjoyed every part of it it was my wife’s birthday and they brought out a candle in the desert everyone was very nice I can’t wait to go back
Great service great food. The music was way too loud.
Amazing!!! New fav place!
We made a reservation and waited 45 mins for our table. The service once seating down was lovely, the staff was wonderful. The food was alright, not something I would go back for.
Food quality significantly decreased. Had to wait for 45 min after reservation time and once they sat us didn’t give us sufficient chairs to seat.
Great food and great service
Everything was great except I put down on the reservation that it was a Birthday. Obviously no at the restaurant paid attention to that note.
We love Nico's. I started with the bad apple cocktail that was perfectly made and then split the caesar salad with my husband. We should have gotten two of them, they were so delicious. My husband got the salmon and I got the meatball parmigiana. Both dishes were perfect. We split the chocolate mousse for dessert. It was wonderful night, we will be returning soon.
Had a lovely birthday dinner. Food was awesome, service was excellent. The only negative is they seated us right by the restroom- not good.
We love the food and bring lots of visitors here for the excellent pasta!! I got the rigatoni and loved it.
Sometimes disappointed with waiting despite having a reservation but this time we only had to wait ~5min.
Fried calamari, Caesar salad, Eggplant rollatini, chicken parm & meatball parm were all excellent.
Robbie, our waiter, was excellent.
The temperature in Nico’s Secret room is very warm.
Worst staff at a restaurant in years. Never checked the table didn’t ask if we wanted dessert coffee. I cleaned my table of seafood shells myself and put them on the table behind me. Kicker we were the only two in the place
Excellent food and service. My only critique would be, we were with people who were not wine drinkers. There was very few lower cost wines that I would order with them. There were some nice high level wines! Also, not a full bar!
Every time we go to Nico, we have to wait 45 minutes to an hour, despite having a reservation. What’s the point in having a reservation if they don’t really hold to them? The food was very good but there are hundreds of other restaurants in the North end with good food. Nico should be more considerate and respectful of their customers’ time and not have them wait as long for a reserved table.
Service was excellent. Food was delicious!
Great food. Friendly waiter. We’re good to go back!
A wonderful evening. We were joined by friends and everything was perfect. The food was excellent at every course and we shared some lovely wine. Everything was enhanced by the outstanding service provided by our server Eddie. This is definitely a must try if you’re looking at the north end. Thank you Bill & Julie
great being outside on 10/14
will be back for sure
The lobster arancini was incredible. Also, their handmade pastas were fantastic. Don’t miss the clams fra diavolo!
Our second experience at Nico waiting over an hour for our table with a reservation made. Last time we were at least given free appetizers by management for our extra wait, however this time we weren’t even acknowledged and the hostess seemed to brush us off when we checked on our wait time. We also ordered the Cacio E Pepe and because we were seated downstairs they did not have the cheese wheel available to us, they really should not be charging for a “table side experience” if all of their downstairs seating is paying without the experience. While we enjoy the food and our server was great, we will not be returning again.
We made a reservation for 7:30, and were not seated until 8:45. The food was not amazing, not a ton of flavor.
We were seated at a small table that was two feet from the bar on one side and next to an open window on the other. On the bar side, a couple of times someone would bump up against the table while the window side has a bench immediately underneath with people waiting outside to be seated. And right above us was a speaker with loud techno music playing. The server was pleasant enough but it took an hour and ten minutes for us to get our entrees. Not once during that time did anyone come and check on us. We got water refilled once by a server that was clearly miserable to be there. My wife had the Chilean sea bass which was $44. Overpriced for the size. Overall, food was good but ambiance and service was sub-par at best.
We had a reservation for Saturday night and they couldn’t seat us for over 30 minutes past the reservation. I understand the North End is crowded Saturday nights but what is the point of a reservation then? I saw several other people with this problem as well. Also - Nico advertises “North End’s only table side cacio e Pepe”. When we ordered this, they came over and said it was too crowded to wheel the table over to do it table side. What is the point of offering this then? Overall - amazing food but sub par experience. I had to keep apologizing to my guests for showing them a bad north end restaurant.
Our go to when in Boston-it’s amazing, make a reservation and enjoy!
The garlic bread was the best, the food was great and my brother-in-law said, “this is probably the best meal I’ve had eating out”.
Always great. Love the food, atmosphere and service.
Excellent service & amazing food but the music was way to loud.
We loved the parm wheel experience!!!
It was great.. highly recommend it
Had a wonderful evening at Nico. Food and service were great. Eddie, our server, went above and beyond. Veal chop special got rave reviews. They did a nice job helping us celebrate a birthday with a cup of tiramisu, sparkler candle and the whole restaurant singing happy birthday. We’ll be back!
Delicious, great presentation and we loved our servers especially Eddie!
Amazing food + the most perfect wine parred with our meals. Highly recommend!
I was a patron of Nico on Saturday, September 25th. I had a 9pm reservation for 4. We arrived at 8:40pm - figuring we could grab a drink while we waited for our table. We checked in with the hostess, and she let us know that we would likely be waiting for 20 minutes (which was expected). When we asked if we could grab a glass of wine at the bar, she was rather rude and told us that there wasn’t much room. We decided to just wait outside. As our wait began creeping up towards (and then past) 30 minutes… 40 minutes… we checked in a few more times with the host staff. They let us know that tables were sitting longer than expected.
When we finally sat 90 minutes after our reservation time, we were rushed through our meal, never offered a dessert or after dinner drinks. After asking what was available for dessert, we decided to get crème brûlée. Our server delivered it to our table and the sugar had never been crystallized. When we mentioned this to us, he pushed back that it had been - when it very clearly had not. There was liquid on the top and we could see the distinct sugar crystals. He took the dessert away, never offering anything in its place. We asked if we could have a drink instead, only to be informed that they had already done last call - to which we were not informed. On top of everything, a manager never once checked in with us to see if we were happy with our experience.
I understand there are issues due to labor shortages, but an acknowledgement and apology goes a long way.
