Great place. It was Marathon Monday night (Patriots Day in Boston) so we had a hard time finding places. I pick Nico because it sounded good and was available. I was greatly surprised. Food was good, service was excellent. It is a tad noisy but that has more to do with other loud parties nearby. I recommend this restaurant. Nice place!
Solid meal & service.
hostess was very rude!
Great waiter, great environment. The pork was terrible and I was convinced to get it. The meat was tougher than Mike Tyson. It being my birthday it was a huge letdown, having shelled out 500 for a nice dinner. Guess I'll stick to the spaghetti and meatballs cuz who could mess that up
Great selection of food. We have friends over from CA and everyone enjoyed every dish we ordered. Wine that was recommended to us (Syrah) was great. Our server Eddie was great. We were a party of 14, so the table in the basement and was a little tight. But we had no much fun, we did not care.
Excellent food and service, however we were seated 40 minutes after our reservation.
The food is impeccable. The service was impeccable. I was able to order something 'off menu' and they accommodated my request. Amazing experience. Will definitely return!
Great food, great service. Atmosphere was nice, but very close corners in a small space which can raise the noise level and sometimes hard to hear the server and talk to your dinner companions.
But, having said that, I definitely go back and would recommend it to friends. Just know it’s pribabky going to be a bit noisy and a bit cramp, but food is worth it.
My sister and I enjoyed the fabulous food! All of the waiters are outstanding. This restaurant is small so the tables are small and close together and the room was extremely noisy the evening we went, but overall our experience was good.
Was very disappointed with food I ordered the eggplant special no taste the antipasto skimpy with the meats and not much of other stuff! And we were in and out in 1 1/2 rushed! Also my daughters meatball not cooked!! Would not fuo back!
Great dinner. Great service. Great spot!
Good food, good service
Small and cozy, all the favorites with great specials to go with them. I had the Cioppino special, a feast for Poseiden! Took a while for dinner to be served, and waiter offered free dessert as an apology. nice touch.
I love this restaurant. This was our second time eating here, and I'll definitely be back! It's small (very cozy) and it was a very warm spring evening, so although we had a reservation we waited an extra 45 minutes specifically so we could sit upstairs. (The downstairs room was sweltering.) It can get a little noisy, especially with the fire station right across the street, but the service is great and the food is excellent. If you're looking for a great Italian meal in the North End, I recommend Nico!
The food, drinks and service were absolutely incredible. Food unbelievably delicious, drinks were big, and the staff were somehow right there to offer assistance any time we even thought we might need something. The place is small though, and tables quite tight. We were waiting about 25 minutes past our reservation and the bar was full. There was literally nowhere we could stand that wasn't in the way of someone else. I'm a little claustrophobic so that was getting to me, but once we were seated all was great. And about that wait time--truly the hostess was doing everything she could. There were a couple of tables who just were not figuring out that it was time to go. Not ordering more drinks or dessert mind you, just sitting yapping even as the hostess kept subtly passing by. She was very gracious and apologized to us more than once. Short of saying "guys, you're done, get out" to the lingering tables there was nothing else she could have done, so we were happy to roll with it.
We arrived for a 730 and were seated at 805. The waiter was inattentive at best, but the bus people were on the spot. The food was awesome .
Small and cozy - great food - great service!
We had a large party of 10 to celebrate a birthday. Food and service could not have been any better!
Good service-good food. There other North End restaurants that we prefer (Al Dente).
Food and service were great. Only downside was we viewed the prices on the app and they were all about $10 more expensive. Bit of a shock but food was not disappointing.
We had a reservation for 8 and when we arrived just before 8 they told us our table was not yet ready and we were welcome to sit at the bar. Long story short we waited an hour and finally left because we were hungry. They wouldn’t let us get an app at the bar. They kept telling us a few more minutes, etc. we had our teen children with us and the final straw was when they seated another group that came in 30 minutes after us. They didn’t even comp us our drinks (2 of which were sodas). They really need to revamp their reservation system. Supposedly they have excellent food, we just couldn’t get to it.
I visit Boston and the North End fairly frequently. I find myself driven to come back to Nico every time despite plenty of other choices. This place has superb food, and a great staff. I recommend this place wholeheartedly.
Nico has the best staff and food in the North End. It’s a must go to if you’re in town.
I loved the telax feel of this space! Small but cozy like being in a friends dining room! The homemade pasta and pasta sauce was so good I took two jars home with me! Can’t wait to return to try another great dish!!
Best North End Restaurant! You will not be disappointed, just go here, don’t look anywhere else!
got seated 50 minutes after reservation time but food was outstanding
We had a reservation for 10 people at 7:30 this past Saturday. In my initial request, I asked that someone call me because I had some questions that I would like addressed. After a couple of days of no response, I reached out to the restaurant and left a voicemail. No one called me back, so I called again and finally answered, though they were not able to answer my questions (e.g., was it possible to order family style salads, could they do something special for our guest of honor, etc?).
Our reservation was at 7:30 (we arrived at 7:15) and were not seated until 8:30 (we had show tickets at 10:00 PM). They did not compensate us in any way for this (they did not apologize, nor did not send us appetizers or take anything off of the bill). They promised a special dessert for our guest of honor and did not follow through with this request.
The hostess was incredibly rude, snappy and hid downstairs for most of the evening (I saw her when I went to use the restroom) to avoid answering to guests whose reservations were also very late. She pointed to the table where we would be seated on the main floor and then seated another party there when the table was finally available. When I asked her about it, she said, "I never said that, we're putting you downstairs." (6 of our 10 guests saw this interaction and were appalled by her inconsistency and by her rude treatment of me). We spent over $500 on this meal, ordered a lot of food and wine, and were in and out in less than 75 minutes and barely made it to our show.
The positives: the waitstaff was lovely, friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. We wish we could have enjoyed the food and atmosphere but the above complaints tainted our experience of what was supposed to be a very special evening.
Excellent service from Alex on a v busy Saturday night. Buffala arugula salad was delicious and fresh. We got seafood over pasta in alfredo sauce that was super rich but every bite delicious, and spaghetti with hot peppers and seared calamari.
Running behind and had to wait half hour past our reservation. However the food and service is always worth the wait!
They were overbooked by a lot and had people waiting inside and outside. The reservation time was not honored and we were seated 50 minutes after our reservation time - as were many others. Since they were rushed the usually good food was like warm on arrival to the table. Then we were clearly being rushed so they could get the table back. Even when leaving it was packed at the bar with people waiting. They need to manage flow better.
Great food! The restaurant was packed but the server managed ok. The restaurant is small but that is typical for the North End. I had the mushroom ravioli which was delicious! Highly recommend.
Had to wait an additional 35 minutes after having made a reservation. They didn’t seat us until we were leaving to go elsewhere. The menu on Opentable is not accurate. Prices are much higher than on Opentable menu. Ordered a bottle of wine for $105 and they brought the wrong year. We had a bottle of wine, two pastas and a caprese salad and with tip it was over $200. Overall, with so many great dining choices in North End, we would not go back to Nico.
Nico's is a small restaurant in the North end among many other Italian places to eat. We were seated promptly with our reservation. Our server was attentive and very helpful as we asked for a paced experience. The appetizers were delicious, especially the Burrata. The sausage and rigatoni had some heat and the past was cooked pefectly. We finished with a cannoli. We would have liked a decaf cappuccino or latte with our dessert, but that was not available. The noise level is high and the tables fairly close, but that is too be expected and would not deter us from going back. In fact, we have gone to Nico's almost every time we are in town.
Wonderful dinner celebrating our anniversary. The food is amazing and the service authentic Italian! James was a kind and attentive waiter and even offered to take an anniversary pic of us. This was not our first time at Nico’s and won’t be our last! Highly recommend!
Went for restaurant week.. Prosciutto and melon course was just alright (quality of prosciutto was not very good). The chef's pasta entree was decent as was the tiramisu. Not worth the value of the regular menu pricing in my opinion.
The restaurant was nice and waiter very good but my husband’s chicken was very thick and hard to cut. He didn’t want to finish it. The limoncello was great !
Great food, superior service, small cozy restaurant. Server was very good. I highly recommend Nico and we will be back.
Our server, James, was wonderful, as usual! We always come back bc of the service, atmosphere, and food—we never go wrong with spaghetti and meatballs. ♥️
Delicious food in a small setting. We will certainly be back. The lobster ravioli was amazing.
