Excellent food and service. We will definitely be coming back again!
It had been 10+ years since I was here and thought it would be good for a couples dinner with two of our friends. It did not disappoint! Our waiter James was great and a funny guy too!
Perfect ambiance and food for date night. We enjoyed coming here!
Meatball appetizer is AMAZING! The service was the best we’ve had on our visit to Boston.
I was a little disappointed in Nico although our party of 6 was split on our opinion. We had a reservation at 7 pm but had to wait about 20 minutes until our table was ready. The place is small so we got a drink at the bar but were jostled around by the people going by. I had the sangria and it was very good. Once we were seated downstairs, our server took excellent care of us. He was one of the highlights of our visit. The appetizers were outstanding - smoked mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto seared and served on a bed of greens, calamari, and the meatball with ricotta. I would highly recommend any of them! The people in our party who had the cioppino, lobster ravioli and chicken parm were very pleased. I has the chicken saltimocca which was a bit of a disappointment. It was okay but not what I would consider fantastic for a North end restaurant. Another person got the shrimp and scallops in a black truffle cream sauce and she did not care for her meal. I tried it and it didn't have much flavor and was very heavy. Also, Nico does not serve coffee...only espresso!
If you go here, stick with the items that come with red sauce (or the cioppino which my husband said had a ton of seafood but not a lot of pasta). I would not return unless it was to split a bunch of the wonderful appetizers or to just get a more traditional spaghetti and meatball dish.
Great food, great service. Very good overall, the only thing I would forwarn new diners about is that the space it is limited. If you don’t mind great food and service in tight quarters then this is place never disappoints.
We had a double date. The food and service is great! That said, the restaurant is a bit smaller so a party of 4 can be a tight fit on a Saturday night. This didn’t bother any of us though, we enjoyed our meal!
Had another great lunch at Nico. Thank you to all the staff.
We didn't have to wait for a 1PM reservation on Saturday. Nice crowd, mostly older families.
Service was excellent! servers friendly and pleasant food delicious
We enjoyed the scallops and eggplant , carbonara, veal parmigiana
Everything was quite good!
Hope to go again
I was super disappointed by Nico. My boyfriend arrived on Valentine’s Day with an 8:30 reservation, but the restaurant hasn’t timed it correctly and we ended up waiting for over a half hour. I usually love the pasta anywhere in the North End but my date and I both were really unimpressed with our pasta dishes. I ordered the linguine with clams and it was essentially flavorless. My boyfriend ordered the carbonara and barely took three bites because it was swimming in butter in cream. There was no other flavor except for an excessive amount of butter. For the price, not even remotely worth it, there are much better places.
Had a delicious dinner here on our Boston vacation. Very good food, very good service. Try the custard dessert, it’s awesome!
It was excellent all round. We had a great birthday celebration.
Very good one of the best in the north end. I will be back soon.
Service was terrible, we made a resveration but we were still made to wait 45 minutes for a table and the wait staff was incredibly rude about it.
This is our third visit. We always get the specials. The food this time was better than ever.
This was our second visit to Nico and it was as wonderful as our first. Excellent service and delicious food in both visits. Nico’s is small and intimate, perfect for a date or special celebration. The meatballs are well seasoned and perfectly tender, not dry at all. Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken is rich and creamy. Highly recommend this jewel in the North End.
Food was very good. Not the best that I’ve had in the North End but very good and ample portions. Service was outstanding. Bartender great. Very small space, typical of many North End eateries. Prices reasonable for the area and large portions. Overall, very good!
The food is good with big portion but I was expecting better. The sausage rigatoni was very salty. The service was not great. We didn’t want to drink but the server kept on up selling us for alcohol.
We set on the main floor (there is another level in the basement) is nice with a bar. Good for special occasions as it was too crowded on the day we went. Noise level was moderate.
The food was incredible and our waiter was amazing. However, we had to wait an addition 40 minutes past our reservation time.
Tremendous food great service we really enjoyed the food and service
Always amazing food. The best chicken Alfredo in the North End. However, we asked for a dogie bag and the waiter never came back. Great food - usually great service and over a very fun place!
Bartender was good, although she spent a lot of time with the people next to us talking about their personal lives, so a little distracting. Everything was okay - nothing to draw us back, but okay. Food was okay - nothing special compared the many other restaurants in the North End. We decided to try a new restaurant rather than going to our old stand-by, and it was just okay. Probably wouldn't make a special date to return because there are too many others to try - and we want outstanding when we dine.
You really cannot go wrong in the North End but Nico’s is a step above. Valet parking, great service, spectacular food, and a great bar. We sat upstairs which is preferable for atmosphere.
Our waiter made a delicious meal a more wonderful event because of his friendliness. He made excellent wine suggestions, as well as food.
The waiter Ty couldn’t have been better and more accommodating. Highly recommend.
Overall, great value for the money. Wonderful atmosphere.
Great food, perfect North End restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine & service was fantastic.
Food was delicious (meatballs of course) but make sure you specify what wine you want off the menu or you may get a $$ one. Dinner companion did say it was fantastic but it better be at $23 a glass. My negative is the veggie options are extremely poor.
Nico is a typical North End Italian restaurant. We were seated downstairs which is not very nice - noisy and crowded. The service was very good - our waiter was attentive and water glasses were constantly being filled. The food was good, but not great. The calamari and spaghetti dish was disappointing - very, very spicy and not much seafood. The other dishes were good. The portions were huge - no one finished their meal. Nico is a fine restaurant, but there are far better options on Hanover Street.
Appetizers & Pasta is very good ,especially the meatball. The veal chop special came with a muddy blonde colored Demi glacé which had very little flavor. The veal chop itself was very good. The prosciutto and smoked mozzarella appetizer was excellent.
